The 2022 Dreamville Festival, which took place in downtown Raleigh’s Dorothea Dix Park and was curated by North Carolina-raised hip-hop legend J. Cole and his Dreamville team, drew 80,000 people. According to numbers released today by the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, this year’s celebrations had a direct economic impact of $6.7 million in Wake County.

Tickets were sold in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 20 nations, for the April 2-3 festival, which drew fans worldwide. On the festival’s Saturday night, occupancy in Wake County reached 92 percent. It’s worth noting that the $6.7 million figure is a conservative estimate that excludes local spending and a multiplier for indirect or induced effects. It simply reflects the economic impact of tourism, which is new money entering the local economy.

“My team and I continue to be awed by the overwhelming support we’ve received since closing out the second Dreamville Festival this April. But to now fully realize the festival’s positive impact on the local economy and tourism, it truly is unbelievable,” said Dreamville Partner and Festival President Adam Roy. “We are grateful for our fans who traveled across the U.S. and internationally to attend the fest, as well as for those from the City of Raleigh and Wake County who helped bring this event together. Our Dreamville team looks forward to furthering its investments in the community for years to come, especially as we plan for the festival’s return in spring 2023.”

The Dreamville Festival was rescheduled for the following years due to the COVID-19 pandemic after an initial sold-out event in 2019. The second annual Dreamville Festival returned with a thoughtfully curated, multi-stage music event from J. Cole, allowing him to give back to the home state that shaped him as an artist with a one-of-a-kind celebration of local culture, food, and

J. Cole and his Dreamville team successfully launched their second Dreamville Festival in Raleigh this past weekend, welcoming 80,000 people from all over the world and generating a multi-million dollar economic impact for the state.

Dreamville Festival, the brand’s flagship music festival property, was successfully relaunched after a three-year hiatus, growing to become the largest music festival in the state of North Carolina and expanding to two days at the historic Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh. This year’s event brought together local residents and visitors alike to enjoy outstanding music performances while visiting the historic Dorothea Dix Park, with a continuous emphasis on community, diversity, and inclusivity.

More than 60% of attendees had attended the festival in the previous year. This year’s attendees came from all 50 U.S. states, as well as Washington, D.C., and 14 overseas nations, demonstrating the global reach of the Dreamville brand.

Fans of all ages were treated to performances from some of today’s most sought-after music acts at Dreamville, which mixed stadium headliners with intriguing up-and-comers. J. Cole, the festival’s originator, crafted the lineup and the festival experience once again, with his headlining performance providing a genuinely unforgettable experience for fans who had been waiting for the festival’s return.

“Our Dreamville team is not only grateful for our incredible fans across the world who traveled to attend or livestreamed online, but also to the greater Raleigh community for welcoming our festival back with open arms. After being forced to sit out the last three years and now seeing all of the overwhelmingly positive feedback from this past weekend, we couldn’t be more excited about the future of the fest. See you next spring for Year 3,” said Dreamville Partner and Festival President Adam Roy.

The festival continued to provide an opportunity for J. Cole to give back to his home state, which has influenced him to become the successful and innovative musician he is today, as well as a cultural and economic impact that lasts long after the festival ends each spring. Attendees had access to a range of family-friendly activities and local vendors, nearly all of whom were based in Raleigh or the larger Triangle area, and the overall number of vendors was more than doubled from the previous year.

Guests could also enjoy site-wide art pieces selected by local arts nonprofit Artsplosure, a big Nonprofit and Community Organization Row dedicated to raising awareness for numerous local charity programs, and the launch of a sky-high Ferris wheel affording unsurpassed views of the city.

Dreamville Festival WIll Stream Live Via Amazon Music This Weekend

You won’t have to go to Raleigh for one of the most promising hip-hop festivals of the year. J. Cole has partnered with Amazon Music’s Rotation to stream this weekend’s Dreamville Festival, returning to Dorothea Dix Park this weekend.

Boasting a lineup of acts like Blxst, Kehlani, Ari Lennox, and of course, Dreamville founder J. Cole, Dreamville Fest continues to bring some of the most acclaimed acts in hip-hop and R&B to Cole’s home state of North Carolina. As part of Cole’s partnership with Amazon Music’s Rotation, fans will be able to stream the festival, taking place Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3, via the Amazon Music app, Amazon Music’s Twitch channel, and Amazon Prime Video.

“In just a few short years, J. Cole has made Dreamville Festival into one of the preeminent hip-hop moments of the year, hosting performances from the hottest up-and-coming artists and established talents,” said Tim Hinshaw, head of Hip-Hop and R&B for Amazon Music in a statement. “We at Rotation have worked to make Amazon Music the home for these kinds of activations and I can’t wait to bring Dreamville Festival into the homes of hip-hop and R&B fans around the globe.”

In addition to current acts, fans will be in for a throwback treat on Saturday with performances from Ja Rule and Ashanti, and on Sunday, with Wiz Khalifa performing his breakthrough mixtape Kush & OJ.

The Dreamville Festival Lineup Has Some Serious Surprises Beyond J. Cole

J.Cole’s Dreamville Festival is back for its second year. This time around, the fest has expanded into a two-day format, taking place on April 2nd and 3rd in Raleigh, North Carolina. And while J. Cole himself will be playing a headlining set to close out the festival on Sunday, it’s the rest of the imaginative lineup that sets this apart as a choice hip-hop function.

Kehlani, Wizkid, and Lil Baby make up a formidable headlining slate, but Dreamville Fest doesn’t stop there. DJ Drama will be making his first-ever Gangsta Grillz performance with Lil Wayne, Jeezy, and T.I., and Ja Rule and Ashanti will be reuniting on stage for a performance. The entire Dreamville records roster — including Ari Lennox, JID, Bas, EarthGang, and Cozz — will be performing too.

Dreamville Festival takes place at Dorothea Dix Park, the largest city park in Raleigh, which boasts over 300 acres of sprawling public green space. Other acts also appearing over the weekend include Moneybagg Yo, Wale, Rico Nasty, Fivio Foreign, Larry June, Bia, Morray, Blxst, T-Pain, Lute, Mereba, Mikhala Jené, The Hics, and Omen.

Tickets for Dreamville Festival are on-sale now here and check out the event website for full details.

Dreamville Festival Is Set To Return — And Expand To Two Days — In 2022

As J. Cole embarks on his The Off-Season Tour, fans can also look forward to the return of his Dreamville Festival next year. Dreamville announced the return — and expansion — of its festival today, providing the April dates and location: Raleigh, North Carolina, just an hour away from Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville. The festival returns April 2 and 3, expanding to a two-day schedule which could mean an even greater number of guest artists from outside the label. In the past, the festival has included 21 Savage, 6lack, Big Sean, Davido, Nelly, Rapsody, Saba, and Teyanna Taylor.

The Dreamville Festival, which was obviously planned to be an annual event, has seen its fair share of troubles. The original event was postponed as a result of Hurricane Florence, forcing organizers to forego a planned Young Thug appearance. Then, scheduled to return in 2020, the festival was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually outright canceled. But it looks like you can’t keep a Dreamer down; the resilience of the event is a testament to Dreamville’s founder’s own stubbornness and persistence.

The festival will require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or negative COVID-19 test results, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Dreamville Foundation and Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy.

Naturally, more information can be found at DreamvilleFest.com, where tickets will go on sale this Friday, October 1.
