Pusha T Explains How The DMV Has Influenced His Next Album

Pusha T says that his hometown in the DMV has played a big influence on his new music as well as that of his whole career. He discussed coming up in southeast Virginia during a recent interview with Billboard, explaining that he wants to “show the world all the aspects of the DMV.”

“I personally feel like my music has always been representative of the region that I’m from, meaning that whole Virginia area and the DMV as a whole,” he said, when asked about his next album. “The term ‘DMV’ is very territorial to people. I’m from Virginia, 757 area code, which is Southeast Virginia State. You know, when they say ‘DMV,’ it’s usually representative of Northern Virginia and D.C. proper. Me being on the outskirts and having the success that we’ve had, it’s always been like a second home to us, and we’ve always loved and supported the area in any way that we could. I love to come back and give that energy back. I think that we’ll really show the world all the aspects of the DMV.”

Currently, Pusha T has been traveling on tour in Europe. “This is the second part of my Europe tour this year,” he explained. “I had to break it up, because I started working on music. It’s been great to be in Paris and be in London and watch the fans go cr*zy. The fans are super excited. For me, it’s always good, because I get to see the range of my fanbase — and it’s like, ‘Man, I’m seeing from 15 to 50!’ That’s a blessing. It’s always been amazing to me just to be overseas across the waters and be able to touch the people that really show me support, and have shown me support for all these years.” Pusha will perform at Pepsi’s Dig In Day in Washington, D.C., later this week.

In addition to solo material, Pusha T has also been in the studio with No Malice working on new music as a part of Clipse. He recently confirmed that he hopes the two are able to finish a full project together soon. They debuted an unreleased song together, earlier this year.

This morning, Shy Glizzy’s new album arrived in its entirety. Laced with 20 songs in total, the rapper enlists a few artists to help. During a recent interview with Akademiks on Off The Record, Glizzy explained the album’s title reflects his longevity in the game. Despite co-signs from artists like Beyoncé, he feels as though he hasn’t received his rightful credit. “I’ve been in this s**t for a minute now, man,” he explained. “I feel like the growth is there, this s**t’s finally gotten to a point where the knives are sharpening, and all the respect is due. That’s why I named this s**t Flowers, I feel like I need mines, I feel like I give a lot of people theirs.” Check out his latest body of work above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Shy Glizzy & NBA Youngboy Unite On “Fools Fall N Love”

Shy Glizzy and NBA Youngboy pulled up with an anti-Valentine’s Day single, “Fools Fall N Love.” The Buddha Bless-produced banger is an upbeat and bubbly anthem that brings together Shy and YB’s melodic flow. The production has a video game-esque feel to it. Meanwhile, Shy Glizzy and YB come through with earworm melodies that will undoubtedly get stuck in your head.

NBA Youngboy and Shy Glizzy developed a strong rapport over the years. Their latest collaboration continues their hot streak which begins with fan favorites like “Where We Come From” and “Hard.” However, YB recently stated that Glizzy stands among his top 5 rappers of all time, along with French Montana, Yeat, Young Thug, and Soulja Slim. In response, Glizzy explained how they have a mutual love for one another that’s much deeper than music.

“You should just fuck with a n***as based upon he a real n***a and you took a liking to that n***a, you know what I’m sayin’? That’s why I respect YB so much because it’s like, we can call each other any time, we could pick up the phone. We gon’ make music, damn near all the time,” he said during an interview with Akademiks. He also suggested that the two of them have even more music in the stash beyond their recent collab.

Fans have eagerly awaited the new single from Shy Glizzy after he previewed a snippet of “Fools Fall N Love” on Instagram. The song comes on the heels of a series of singles he dropped before the new year. He unleashed “Underrated” in late November before quickly following it up with “Slime-U-Out” ft. 21 Savage. He’s built strong momentum in the past few months as he gears up for the release of his upcoming project, Flowers.

Quotable Lyrics
Put on Law & Order, had to tell that bitch that I’m her judge
They get slaughter, slaughter, I’ma wave that stick ’round just for fun
She her mama daughter, man, I love this bitch, she one on one
Turnt that bitch up, then I count my cuts, you know I burn
