MrBeast Warns Fans About A.I. Deepfakes: “This Is A Serious Problem”

Recently, MrBeast took to social media to warn fans of the dangers surrounding deepfakes generated using artificial intelligence. The internet personality shared a clip of an advertisement he claims his supporters have been seeing as of late, which features a deepfake of him promoting what appears to be a scam. The deepfake of him encourages his fans to click a link in order to claim an iPhone for only $2, claiming that he’s doing “the world’s largest iPhone 15 giveaway.”

Apparently, the account that posted the video is also verified on TikTok, making it all the more possible for supporters to be tricked. “Lots of people are getting this deepfake scam ad of me,” MrBeast captioned the clip. “Are social media platforms ready to handle the rise of AI deepfakes? This is a serious problem.” To most people, it’s probably obvious that the video is A.I. generated. With that being said, a large portion of his following is made up of children, who are far more likely to be lured in by the thought of getting an unbelievably cheap gadget.

MrBeast Brings Attention To A.I. Deepfake Scams

MrBeast is also known for blessing strangers with out-of-pocket gifts, which could make the deepfake’s claims more convincing. Previously, he’s given out luxury cars, bags full of money, and much more. Clearly, the fact that artificial intelligence allows people to create videos of anybody doing anything they want is pretty scary. It seems as though the general consensus is that this particular one of MrBeast is easy to spot. Despite this, it remains important for internet users not to believe everything they see, particularly if their favorite YouTuber is promising them a free or shockingly cheap device.

Danny Brown Shares Hilarious “Munch” Deepfake On Twitter

There’s been lots of talk in recent years on how deepfake technology could potentially effect music and art as a whole. While many have made dystopian predictions and others have embraced it as its own art form, Danny Brown is somewhere in the middle. Seemingly as a joke, he shared a deepfake video to Twitter that caught a LOT of attention from fans. In the clip Brown’s face is superimposed over Ice Spice for part of the music video for her song “Munch (Feelin’ U).” But it doesn’t just stop there, the clip also features his voice rapping the song.

Viewers were surprised and confused by the clip but pretty much everyone agreed it was hilarious. Many responded with gifs and reaction videos either their shocked surprise or general indifference to the clip. Many compared it to the music video Kendrick Lamar released for “The Heart Part V” last year. In that video, Kendrick deepfakes himself into the image of many controversial black celebrities like Kanye West, OJ Simpson, and Will Smith. In the final verse he famously transforms into Nipsey Hussle and forgives the rapper’s murderer. “This isn’t the influence Kendrick was thinking he’d have after dropping heart pt 5,” one commenter replied to Brown’s clip.

Danny Brown Deepfaked Into An Ice Spice Song

Earlier this year, Danny Brown teamed up with another beloved underground rapper, JPEGMAFIA. Together the pair released Scaring The Hoes a critically acclaimed collaborative project that also featured redveil. They followed it up a few months later with a DLC Pack sharing four new collaborative songs. One of the tracks notably contained some disses aimed at Baby Keem for the family ties that helped him achieve his current status.

Danny Brown’s last solo album was released all the way back in 2019. He’s often spoken publicly about the battle he’s having with his label to get a follow-up project released. Earlier this year he claimed he turned in a new album two years ago that still hasn’t been released. What do you think of Danny Brown’s “Munch” deepfake? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Durk Says A.I. Could Never Replace Him

One of tech’s most significant recent developments in music either motivates fans for the future or scares artists due to its potential dangers. While A.I. deepfakes (involving pictures, voices, statements, and beyond) are more prevalent than ever, many artists spoke out against its malpractice. The most recent to do so is Lil Durk, who spoke with HipHopDX about artificial intelligence that can replicate parts of the creative process. One day, some believe, A.I. will be able to fully replicate an artist’s sound. Just look at the recent controversial A.I.-generated Jay-Z verse that had fans, small artists, and the industry at large concerned.

Despite those legitimate fears and the threats artificial intelligence replicas pose to copyright and artists’ livelihood, The Voice says a fake voice could never replace him. Not only that, but the Chicago storyteller treated the issue as a tool to use wisely, not as a definite benefit or plight to the music world. “I heard them AI deep fakes usin’ my voice, it’s wild what tech be doin’,” he expressed to the publication. “I think AI gon’ change how we make music, but ain’t nothin’ gonna replace the real deal, them raw vibes and emotions we bring. Just gotta make sure we use it right, ya know? Keep our essence alive.”

Lil Durk Talks A.I. Amid NFT-Sneaker Hybrid Collection

Interestingly enough, Durkio knows a thing or two about these new waves of tech. For example, he also spoke to HipHopDX about his NFT-centered “phygital” sneaker collection, NXTG3NZ. Basically, the concept revolves around purchasing a digital NFT, which then allows for a customized experience in copping a physical model of the product. During his conversation with the hip-hop news org, he also chose which moment of his career he’d like to immortalize in NFT form if given the chance.

“I’d pick the time I sold out United Center in my hometown [in 2022], the energy was unreal,” the 30-year-old stated. “That night was somethin’ else, and I’d love to share that vibe with the fans, let ’em feel what I felt on that stage.” Sure, NFTs aren’t any less controversial than this A.I. tech in some circles, but Durk clearly cares more about the righteous execution of these innovations rather than their proliferation at face value. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Durk.
