Brandon Miller Drops 41 Points After Being Implicated In Murder Case

Brandon Miller is currently being accused of something serious right now. For those who don’t know who Miller is, he is the star player for the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team. Overall, Alabama is ranked second in the nation, and Miller is their leading scorer. However, the team has been embroiled in controversy. This is because one of their other players, Darius Miles, was charged with capital murder. According to reports, he allegedly supplied a gun to Michael Lynn Davis, who shot and killed Jamea Harris. This all happened close to the Alabama campus.

Although Alabama has expelled Miles, they are still dealing with the fallout from the case. Earlier this week, we reported that a witness implicated Miller in the shooting. According to detective Branden Culpepper, Miller allegedly gave the gun to Miles, who then gave it to Davis. For now, however, Miller cannot be charged with anything and there is no telling if he will be. That said, Alabama is letting him play, and last night, he broke through with a massive game against South Carolina.

Miller grabbed a total of 41 points and also added 8 rebounds. Furthermore, he was able to get the game-winning basket in overtime. Overall, it was an amazing game for Miller, who was met with vitriol from fans in South Carolina. Of course, they were well aware of everything that Miller was being accused of. This led to numerous “lock him up” chants throughout the match. Clearly, none of this fazed Miller who continued to play his game. Now, it seems like Miller is considered to be one of the best players in college basketball, and it will be interesting to see how this all develops further.

The Miles murder case definitely complicates things for the Crimson Tide. There is all sorts of negative attention surrounding Miller and the team, although there is no telling if the legal ramifications will ever come. For now, the team will just have to operate as normal until more details come to light. Alabama’s Brandon Miller Implicated In Darius Miles Murder Case

The University of Alabama’s basketball team is arguably the best in the entire nation. With a 23-4 record and currently ranked No. 2 in the AP poll, the Crimson Tide have rolled all year. However, this has not come without it’s share of controversy. In January, one of their players Darius Miles was charged with capital murder. Miles allegedly contributed to an incident that led to the death of a young woman named Jamea Harris. Reportedly, he provided the gun used to slay her on Univeristy Blvd. near the Alabama campus.

“At this time, it appears that the only motive was a minor altercation that these individuals had with the victim as they were out on the Strip,” Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Jack Kennedy said in a news conference at the time. Supposedly, the man who allegedly shot the gun, Michael Lynn Davis, did so because Jamea Harris rejected him romantically. Although Miles did not fire the weapon, he allegedly provided the gun and was at the scene of the crime. In December, an ankle injury caused Miles to be ruled out for the remainder of the season. Even though he was not active at the time, though, the school expelled him for his involvement with this crime.

On Tuesday (Feb. 21) at a hearing for the case, Tuscaloosa detective Branden Culpepper revealed another Alabama player involved with the crime. Culpepper testified that star forward Brandon Miller supplied the gun for Miles to give to Davis. Miller is currently the team’s leading scorer with 18.7 points per game as a freshman. Projected to be a high pick in this year’s NBA draft, Brandon Miller is only a freshman. Police said that Miles had texted Miller asking him to bring the weapon to where he was near campus, and Miller obliged. However, Tuscaloosa D.A. Paula Whitley added that “there’s nothing we could charge (Miller) with.”

When questions arose regarding Miller’s alleged involvement with the murder, Alabama’s head coach Nate Oats said Tuesday that he was aware of the situation. “We knew about that,” he said. “Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen… Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time.” While this statement appears to show a lack of sympathy from Oats, he also said that the “whole situation is sad” and that Bama was and is “fully cooperating with law enforcement the entire time.”

Darius Miles Admits Providing Gun In Murder Of Young Mother: Report

It came as a shock to learn that University of Alabama basketball star Darius Miles was arrested for murder. Videos of the 21-year-old in handcuffs being escorted by police have stormed the internet, and new reports are detailing developing information provided by police.

Miles and 20-year-old Michael Lynn Davis were arrested and charged with capital murder. The victim in the case is a 23-year-old mother, Jamea Jonae Harris, who was shot to death near UoA’s campus last weekend.

It was widely reported that Harris was killed after rebuffing advances from a man. After stating she wasn’t interested in him, she was murdered. Investigators also reportedly recovered surveillance footage of the actual shooting.

“Darius Miles admitted to providing Michael Davis with the handgun immediately prior to the shooting,” Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office Investigator Brenden Culpepper stated. Miles is not suspected of shooting the victim.

CNN further reports Miles and his loved ones are “heartbroken” over the young mother’s death. However, the college basketball star “maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court.”

Following his admission, Miles was removed from the UoA basketball team.

Additionally, the shooting reportedly occurred around 1:45 a.m. Authorities located Harris deceased inside of a vehicle less than half a mile from the campus. She was reportedly in Birmingham to visit her cousin, who was a student at the university.

Harris was with her boyfriend and cousin as the three enjoyed a night out. They were getting something to eat when a man saw her and tried flirting. She denied him.

“He was advancing on her, and she declined his attention. He refused to go away,” said Harris’s mother, DeCarla Cotton. “While they were attempting to leave, one gentleman walked up to the car and started shooting.”

During the incident, Harris’s boyfriend reportedly fired shots at her assailant. The suspect was identified because he was injured and visited a local hospital for treatment.

“She wasn’t a troublemaker,” DeCarla also said of her daughter. “She was a hardworking mother who got up every day to take care of her [5-year-old] son.” DeCarla hasn’t told him of his mother’s fate just yet.

University of Alabama Basketball Player Darius Miles Arrested and Charged with Capital Murder

Darius Miles, an Alabama University basketball player and another man have been arrested and charged with capital murder in the shooting of a 23-year-old woman. The shooting occurred near campus.

According to ESPN, Miles was booked into Tuscaloosa County Jail at 6:45 p.m. ET on Sunday. The university states Miles is no longer a member of the team.

The 23-year-old woman has been identified as Jamea Harris. She was shot early Sunday morning on University Boulevard near campus. The second man charged was Michael Lynn Davis, 20. The charge was determined to be capital murder because the shots were fired into a car.

“At this time, it appears that the only motive was a minor altercation that these individuals had with the victim as they were out on The Strip,” Tuscaloosa police Capt. Jack Kennedy said.

Kennedy added there was no proof of a prior relationship between the involved parties.

Harris was a passenger in the car. The driver of the vehicle stated he returned fire after his car was shot at.

“The University of Alabama’s utmost priority is the safety and well-being of the campus community,” a statement from the university reads. “We are grieved by the incident that occurred near campus last night and extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends.”
