Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in a $1 billion class-action lawsuit filed against the soccer star over his role in promoting NFTs for the embattled Binance cryptocurrency platform. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, claims that Ronaldo’s promotion of Binance was “deceptive and unlawful” and led people to make costly and unsafe investments. Ronaldo is just the latest celebrity to be sued over their endorsement of NFTs.

“Evidence now reveals that Binance’s fraud was only able to reach such heights through the offer and sale of unregistered securities, with the willing help and assistance of some of the wealthiest, powerful and recognized organizations and celebrities across the globe — just like Defendant Ronaldo,” the suit reads. Binance is currently under federal investigation for a litany of charges. In short, a years-long DoJ investigation has found that Binance and its top execs willfully ignored US law will knowingly allowing “bad actors” to use the crypto exchange. Charges include money laundering, operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business, and ignoring US sanctions.

Cristiano Ronaldo Could Be Lashed If He Returns To Iran

However, this is not the first legal trouble that Ronaldo has found himself in this year. In October, Ronaldo was reportedly sentenced to 99 lashings in Iran over adultery charges. Ronaldo was Iran in September for an Asian Champions League match. While there, he was seen hugging Iranian painter Fatima Hamimi after she gifted him two paintings. According to Iranian law, it is a criminal offense to touch another woman while in a relationship. However, some outlets have noted that he could be pardoned if he expresses remorse for his actions.

Despite this, Ronaldo is not currently scheduled to play in Iran for the rest of the season. However, the possibility does remain. Two Iranian teams can still qualify for the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League. If Al-Nassr was to draw either Sepahan or Persepolis, they would have to play a game in Iran. The tweet that Speed was responding was reacting to Ronaldo’s strained congratulations for Lionel Messi after the Argentine player won his eighth Ballon D’Or this week.

Ronaldo, once widely considered one of the greatest players in the world, is largely viewed as a shell of his former self. A second stint at Manchester United between 2021 and 2022 ended poorly for Ronaldo and he moved off to Saudi Arabia, where he likely see the final years of his career. Furthermore, Portugal once again fell short in the 2022 World Cup, losing to Morocco in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Messi’s Argentina would go on to win the entire tournament. Ronaldo is still yet to play in a World Cup Final. He has only reached the semifinals once, in his tournament debut in 2006.

The Courtney Phillips-directed, London Alley-produced “Pepper” video opens with Francis Ngannou sparring with a rock before a fierce leopard arrives and flashes its fangs. Elsewhere Flowdan overlooks a city at night, rapping, “Take a walk with the full moon / We’re all button and zipped up / It’s all kickin’ off soon / Let’s stay real quick, bruv / I don’t know about your goons / ‘Round here, everything lift up / Whether it’s draw, win, or lose / None of my friend dem give up.”

Next, we find Lil Baby in a control room of sorts. That footage is spliced and juxtaposed with a motorcycle street race and a young man in a diner noticing news on the television, reading, “NGANNOU TRAINING IN SAUDI ARABIA.” Baby raps, “Told you you can’t f*ck with us, you shoulda knew it, yeah / We gon’ do the most, yes / Foot all on them throats, yes.”

As news of Ngannou’s fight with Tyson Fury spreads, the song briefly pauses so we can hear Cristiano Ronaldo’s prediction at a press conference: “Next question!” And then, Skrillex’s innovative and textured production takes over, with Flowdan’s grime flow soundtracking Ngannou sprinting through a desert and spars at the ocean floor. “Battle of the baddest, only one of us leavin,’” Flowdan says to punctuate it all, as the leopard growls and closes in on the camera.
