A day after teasing a mysterious project, Tyler The Creator has announced a new album. It’s called Chromakopia, and it’s coming October 28 (that’s a Monday, which is notable since new albums usually arrive on Friday).

Details about Chromakopia are scarce, including no tracklist (although “St. Chroma” will presumably be the first single, if there is no one). But the artwork, which you can see below, notes that “all songs are written, produced, and arranged” by Tyler Okonma, Tyler’s real name.

Tyler, who is bringing back the best festival in America for another year, recently shared his frustrations with the current state of music. “I love this art form so much, bro, and there’s so many n****s out right now that aren’t musicians, that are getting treated like musicians because they make meme records,” he said on the Mavericks With Mav Carter podcast. “[They will] publicly be like, ‘I don’t give a f*ck about music, I just do this sh*t for money.’ It’s a Spider-Man meme of, like, the next n****. When every publication is like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s put that out,’ you taking up space for n****s like me.”

It’s safe to say, Chromakopia won’t be a meme record.

Welcome to Tyler, the Creator SZN. The superstar rapper has dropped off a new teaser, scored by the single “ST. CHROMA,” hinting at the future release of the album Chromakopia.

The video delivers the energy of a music video. A marching soldier treks through plains with an army of suited men behind him as Tyler’s whispering bars carry the energy. You can see the men march into a Chromakopia shipping container, which eventually explodes below.

Tyler The Creator Teases New Music (And A New Album?) In The Ominous ‘St. Chroma’ Video

It’s been three years since Tyler The Creator‘s most recent album, Call Me If You Get Lost. But, he appears to be teasing a new project.

In the video for a new song “St. Chroma,” a man wearing a mask walks through desert followed by others directly behind him. There’s whispered rapping over a marching beat and a choir, and a container with the word “Chromakopia” on it. The footage ends with the container bursting into flames following an explosion. Could Chromakopia be the title of his next album? We’ll have to wait and see, although the timing is, let’s say, interesting with Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw (the best festival in America) coming up next month.

Tyler The Creator recently had Steve Lacy’s back when he was being harassed by fans for new music. “album this album that what happen to hello? the “Bad Habit” singer wrote on Instagram. Tyler commented, “i feel you. sh*t is annoying especially when i never said out my mouth an album was coming. i wanna be an actress lmfao.” He’ll have to settle for starring in an A24 movie alongside Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow.
