Chlöe’s Questioning ‘Want Me’ Is The Long-Awaited Reunion With Her Sister Halle

There’s Trouble In Paradise, but Chloe X Halle fans are probably more than happy to hear it, as the new album from Chlöe, the older half of the sister act, finally reunites with her younger sibling Halle on the standout track, “Want Me.” A wistful track that finds the duo pondering one of life’s most relatable phenomena (“why is it the ones we don’t want that want us?”) over a downtempo beat composed of a simple guitar loop complimented by finger snaps.

“Want Me” represents the first time the sisters have released a record together since 2020, when they released their breakout sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, which launched them into the upper echelons of stardom. Since then, they’ve both embarked on successful, but disparate solo careers, with Chlöe delving into more grown-up material with her debut solo single, “Have Mercy,” in 2021, and eventually releasing her first solo album, In Pieces, last year.

Halle, meanwhile, took a seemingly more wholesome route after securing the lead role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid remake, then landing a vital role in the musical Color Purple film. Halle kicked off 2024 with the announcement of the birth of her baby Halo, and while she’s released a solo track of her own, she also decided to take a break from being in the public eye to regroup after admitting to having “severe” postpartum depression.

When inspiration hits you, no matter where, you have to give in. Despite being on a tropical vacation, Halle Bailey found a way to build a makeshift recording studio setup.

Today (July 23), the “In Your Hands” singer decided to treat fans to an impromptu show. Instead of debuting one of her unreleased tracks, Halle to put a fresh spin on someone else’s chart-topping tune. Equipped with an acoustic guitar and a microphone, Halle performed a spine-tingling cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Please Please Please.”

Halle offered a simple explanation behind what inspired the nearly one-minute teaser clip: “Woke up with this song in my head. I love it 🤓.”

It’s hard to believe it now, especially since her leading role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid live action adaptation, but Halle has a soft spot for covers. Before Chloe X Halle broke through to the mainstream, the sister duo built their fan base by way of their YouTube channel riddled with cover of standout songs.

So, Halle’s angelic rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s single “Please Please Please” is a subtle remember of her superstar roots. Users online quickly reminded newbies of this fact.

“The girlies should be scared when you cover a song! Your instrument is so angelic! 🥹😭,” wrote one user.

“How do you manage to make every song beautiful and angelic, I haven’t heard a cover that wasn’t better with your voice like 😍🥹💕,” chimed another.

Halle Bailey Looks Stunning In Post-Pregnancy Essence Cover

Earlier this year, Halle Bailey hit fans with some major news. Pregnancy rumors had swirled around the singer and actress for months though she’d been purposefully quiet about acknowledging them. That’s why fans had a variety of reactions to her “surprise” announcement that she gave birth to her first child in the first week of the new year. She later confirmed that it was actually the boy’s father, DDG, who came up with what would eventually be his name, Halo.

Now Halle Bailey is getting back into her routine, starting with a new magazine cover showing off her post-pregnancy look. She appears on the newest edition of Essence Magazine, which highlights her specifically among a larger focus on black women in Hollywood. “thank you so much @essence for this incredible honor 🌹✨i’m forever grateful” she captioned her Instagram post sharing some of the pictures from the piece. In some of the pictures she’s sporting a dark red dress stretching head to toe and in others, she posed in a more stark black and white. Check out all the photos she shared below.

In the comments fans make it clear exactly what they want next from Bailey, new music. She dropped her debut single as a solo artist last year which even resulted in a Grammy nomination. “HALLE DROP THE DAMN SONG” and “Okay but when’s the next single?” two of the top comments on her post read. Others just focus on her incredible looks. “The baddest mermaid i know” and “This kind of beauty is rare” two other comments read.

Halle Bailey first made her name as part of R&B duo Chloe & Halle alongside her sister. Their most recent album was the critically acclaimed Ungodly Hour which dropped a few years ago back in 2020. Chlöe Bailey Told Halle To Ignore Social Media In Order To Keep Her Pregnancy The ‘Best Kept Secret Ever’

Uproxx cover star Chlöe Bailey did a recent interview with People Magazine, where she discussed her sister Halle’s pregnancy and how they tried to hide it until she was ready to share her baby with the world. As Chlöe put it, it was the “best kept secret ever.”

“We just ignore it,” she shared. “I would tell her, like, take social media off your phone, you know, I keep all her other secrets. So this was just another one in the books.”

Chlöe herself is also “on cloud nine” about the fact that she’s now an aunt. Halle and her boyfriend, DDG, welcomed their son, Halo, which they revealed earlier this month through an Instagram post.

Both the sisters are still keeping busy. Chlöe performed at the Urban One Honors: Best In Black event. Halle is set to host a Masterclass that fans can livestream, which will be part of the festivities for Grammy Week. More information about that can be found here.

Chlöe also recently teased during a TikTok livestream that the two could be reuniting to put out some new music. Both sisters worked on their solo projects, with Chlöe dropping In Pieces, and Halle appearing as the lead in the live-action Little Mermaid.

Check out Halle Bailey and DDG’s announcement of Halo’s birth below.

Chlöe Could Be Reuniting With Her Sister Halle Bailey, Or So The Singer Teased While Chatting With Fans

2023 belonged to the Bailey sisters. Both Uproxx cover star Chlöe and Halle Bailey accomplished considerable career feats in their solo pursuits. For Chlöe, that included hitting the road for her first solo headlining tour, dropping her debut studio album In Pieces, and appearing in several film and TV projects. Halle’s resume was also quite impressive.

Before welcoming her son with DDG, Halle starred in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple. She even snagged a Grammy nomination for her debut solo single, “Angel.” With both siblings swamped with professional opportunities, fans have let go of the idea of a Chloe X Halle reunion. However, not all hope is lost. On January 20, during a TikTok livestream, Chlöe teased that the supporters’ wish had been granted.

When asked by a user when the duo would release new music, Chlöe quickly answered, “Soon.”

Shortly after dropping their sophomore studio album, Ungodly Hour, the siblings broke the news to fans that they would be taking a hiatus. With Halle hard at work on her forthcoming solo album, it’s hard to say how a reunion would fit into the plans. Maybe instead of an entire project from the duo, Chlöe is hinting about a one-off track on Halle’s upcoming project. Either way, fans can’t wait until it becomes tangible.

Chloe X Halle Twerk It Out To A Drake Favorite In The First Video From Halle’s Pregnancy

Now that Halle Bailey has finally revealed the birth of her and DDG’s baby Halo, the floodgates of pregnancy content have opened. After months of Halle staying off social media to protect her mental health, she’s apparently given her sister Chloe the green light to start sharing the videos and photos the two inevitably shot during the pregnancy. Chloe’s first post shows that the baby weight didn’t slow the younger Bailey down one bit as the sisters teamed up to twerk it out to Drake’s For All The Dogs ratchet favorite, “Rich Baby Daddy” featuring Sexyy Red and SZA.

The rumors of Halle’s pregnancy swirled throughout the last quarter of 2023 as the Color Purple star mostly stayed out of the press cycle for the film despite playing a major role in it and being featured heavily in the trailers. Any appearances she did make in public were in very baggy clothing to hide the baby bump. However, the sisters — and DDG — went to extreme lengths to downplay the rumors, with Chloe appearing to address them by telling fans to “keep my sister’s name out your mouth” and DDG trolling fans with a baby doll on a livestream.

Now that the baby has arrived, though, he already has over 50,000 followers on Instagram, despite only having one photo. But in terms of the Bailey fam social media, it seems we’re mostly just happy to see more Chloe X Halle content — and the potential for a follow-up to Ungodly Hour.

Chloe Bailey Dazzles Fans With New Tiny Desk Concert

NPR‘s Tiny Desk is where artists go to show that with all the theatrics of their performances stripped back, they’re still very talented. Just this year artists like Ab-Soul, Action Bronson, and most recently Post Malone have taken to the stage. The next one to take the iconic stage was Chloe Bailey who is no stranger to dazzling fans with her raw voice. Earlier this year she took to Twitter to share a cover of one of the biggest hit songs of the year. Her version of “fukumean” caught fire online and reminded fans just how gifted of a vocal talent she really is.

She reminded fans once again with her new Tiny Desk performance. For the show, she began with her 2022 single “Surprise” before running through a number of songs from her debut album In Pieces. That included two singles “Body Do” and the title track “In Pieces.” As well as three deep cuts “I Don’t Mind,” “Worried,” and “Cheatback.” The performance featured Chloe’s vocals and 7 other musicians playing guitars, keys, trumpets, and more. You can check out the entire thing below.

Chloe Bailey’s Tiny Desk Concert Is Amazing

While Chloe’s fans ate up her Gunna cover, not everyone was a fan. DJ Akademiks didn’t take it so well, going on a live-streamed rant taking shots at many artists including Chloe. “That sh*t trash” he said in regards to her viral cover. His reaction garnered quite a bit of backlash from R&B fans online.

Chloe is currently on tour supporting her debut solo album In Pieces which dropped earlier this year. While the album has its fans, it made an underwhelming chart debut. Her album sold just 10k copies in its first week and debuted at #119 on the Billboard 200. It’s a pretty far drop off from the numbers she achieved with her sister as the duo Chloe x Halle. What do you think of Chloe Bailey’s new NPR Tiny Desk concert? Let us know in the comment section below.

Chloe x Halle Unveil Collection With Victoria’s Secret

Chloe and Halle Bailey have finally unveiled their new campaign with Victoria Secret’s PINK. The musical duo’s exclusive collection is scheduled to be released on Tuesday (August 29). The announcement was recently shared on the pair’s official Instagram account. The capsule will be available in stores or online. The post noted that the sisters have been working on their latest collection for over a year.

“over a year in the making x it’s finally almost here! we’ve designed an exclusive collection with @vspink made JUST for you, our amazing #sirens don’t forget to shop online tomorrow or in select stores! hope you love as much as we do [heart emoji] #pinkpartner,” the post’s caption reads.

The post helps give fans a glimpse of what to expect for the drop. Judging by the pictures, the new collection is athleisure-inspired. From bright-colored activewear pieces to even a slinky, orange dress. Prior to this, the pair dropped their first capsule with the lingerie brand last year. The Bailey sisters seem to be pros when it comes to brand deals. Aside from VS PINK, the pair has done campaigns with Neutrogena, Crocs, and more. However, on a more sour note, the pair have been embroiled in some controversy as of late. Rumors have been swirling that Halle Bailey might be carrying a bun in the oven.

The Little Mermaid actress was spotted on her boyfriend DDG’s livestream with what appears to be a burgeoning baby bump. Following that, as a big sister should, Chloe responded to her sister’s critics online. “Y’all better keep my sister’s name out your mouth,” the “Body Do” singer said in a clip posted to her Instagram. But not everyone seems to be a fan of Chloe’s gesture. Internet personality and Fox Soul host Funky Dineva dragged the singer and actress for her comments. “Chloe Bailey is so goddamn lame to me,” Dineva began. “First of all, girl, you are Miss Preppy Ashley from the suburbs. Then you came out being all promiscuous, and now you’re trying to be a gangster.”
