Dolly Parton Wants To Collaborate With Cardi B And Has A Plan To Make It Happen

Prior to last night’s 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, country legend Dolly Parton sat down with E! News’ Daily Pop to discuss her admiration for her peers in the industry. Parton, who hosted and performed at the 2022 ACM Awards, named a few artists with whom she’d like to collaborate. Among those artists were Cher and Cardi B.

Although Parton and Cardi B are sonic opposites, Parton said she admired Cardi’s outspokenness and creativity.

“She’s a character,” Parton told Daily Pop of Cardi. “I know she’s an original.”

Parton also expressed interest in working on some sort of project with Cher, incorporating the “Up” rapper one way or another.

“I would love to do something with [Cher] sometime, a TV show, or a movie,” Dolly said of Cher. “We’ll have Cardi B on that same show, let Cher host it, and me and Cardi B will be the entertainment.”

At the 2022 ACM Awards, Parton witnessed Kelly Clarkson deliver a tribute to her, by way of a performance of “Jolene.”

“I have known Kelly since she won American Idol,” Parton said. “She’s just so real, as everybody knows. She’s just exactly the way she comes across. Her voice is absolutely bliss and incredible.”

Saweetie’s Collab With Cher Turns Out To Be A Brand Partnership With MAC Cosmetics

Back in September of 2021, Saweetie promised that her collaboration with Cher would “unfold during the holidays” after she credited the pop goddess for inspiring her to tweak her album yet again. Unfortunately for fans who were expecting a collaboration of the musical variety, it turns out that the two artists instead worked together on a brand partnership alongside MAC Cosmetics for the brand’s new “Challenge Accepted” campaign, which begins rolling out today.

In the TV ad spot, Cher can be seen applying lipstick in the mirror while Saweetie peppers her with questions. “How did you do it, Cher?” she asks, seemingly referring to the elder artist’s nearly 60-year career at the forefront of pop music. “I’m like this lipstick,” Cher replies. “When I’m on, I’m on.” The background music for the commercial is, of course, Saweetie’s made-for-TV hit, “Fast (Motion),” which has already become an unofficial anthem for WNBA and soundtracked the commercial for her McDonald’s meal last year.

What’s been rolled out so far appears to just be part of a wider campaign, so it’s possible we’ll still get some music from this unlikely duo. If not, though, you still have to celebrate another clear branding win for Saweetie, whose profile only grows as fans await her debut album, Pretty Bitch Music.

Saweetie Promises Her Collaboration With Cher Will ‘Unfold During The Holidays’

The wait for Saweetie’s debut album may be drawing to a close soon. The burgeoning Bay Area rapper-mogul was at the Barclay Center in New York for the 2021 MTV VMAs, where she gave a red carpet interview hinting that her new music could be dropping over the holiday season. When she was asked about meeting Cher — an experience to which she attributes the most recent delay — she played coy but did offer up the potential timing for their collaboration’s release.

“Everything will unwind and unfold during the holidays,” she said, “So stay tuned.”

While waiting for the album to come out, Saweetie gave her fans no shortage of content and projects to consume. In August, she launched the second season of her Icy University web series, interviewing Chloe Bailey ahead of the sister act’s first solo release. Saweetie also collaborated with McDonald’s on her own meal, complete with “Saweetie N Sour” sauce. And though the album has been pushed back a few times — including so Saweetie could polish her performance skills — she did confirm earlier this summer that it’s finally finished, which means a solid release date could be coming soon.

A Botched Cher Tweet Led To Utter Chaos (From Herself And Others), And People Couldn’t Handle It

Cher’s already thrown her support behind Britney Spears during her conservatorship fight, and she did so again on Thursday night over a report that Jamie Spears would be stepping down. Before that happened, however, the legendary singer and actress had a slip of the fingers, and all hell broke loose. This turned into a rare moment of real fun on Twitter, so we must talk this out.

Things were going well, given that Cher had been previously tweeting about an HSN (Home Shopping Network) appearance. When all was said and done, however, Cher popped onto her phone and simply tweeted, “I had a great time on H.” Oh no.

So, very clearly, this was a typo, yet Cher’s immediate replies turned into a mixture of people playing along and/or wondering what the heck was going on (especially since Cher’s former husband, Gregg Allman, was a heroin addict, and Cher is anti-drug and even campaigned against marijuana use in the 1960s).

Very quickly, Cher realized what had happened, but (like a champ) she did not delete her erroneous tweet. Instead, she explained (in her frequent ALL-CAPS fashion) that she’d pushed send too early. Then Cher communicated that the camera work on HSN was less than desirable, and had ‘MADE ME LOOK LIKE’ she had… eaten a turkey? Alright.

Cher then lamented losing all her ‘CRED’ over a ‘MANGLED’ tweet. The Oscar winner then declared a divorce from grammar, so please lighten up, everyone.

Fair enough. And here’s the aforementioned support for Britney Spears, even though her dad hasn’t stepped away from the conservatorship quite yet. Cher ‘COULDN’T HAPPIER 4 HER IF I WAS TWINS.’ Same, Cher!

Saweetie Pushed Back Her Album After Talking To Cher Gave Her An ‘Epiphany’

Saweetie fans were disappointed to learn that the “Fast (Motion)” rapper’s album wasn’t coming out as promised last week when she delayed her album Pretty B*tch Music again to “reconstruct some songs.” Now, thanks to Billboard, those fans know who they can (partially) blame: None other than music icon Cher, who Saweetie met to work on a “really big campaign.” After the Bay Area rapper met the pop goddess, she realized her album wasn’t done and needed just one more thing.

As Saweetie told Billboard, I thought [the album] was done, but after I met her, I had an epiphany. This album needs to have feelings, it needs to have soul, it needs to have spirit. And I have a lot of room for improvement, so I’m gonna work on that. And once it’s done, the album will be released.”

At this point, that strategy might end up paying big dividends, as it shows the care and deliberation with which she’s been proceeding. Certainly, fans have been pretty patient with the rollout, which began sometime last year with the release of “Back To The Streets” and has since included “Best Friend” and “Fast.” In the meantime, she’s sustained her pop-culture dominance with illuminating performances (for which she’s attending an artist development boot camp to help her improve), TV and commercial appearances, features with pop queens like Gwen Stefani, and her Pretty Summer Playlist Vol. 1 EP, as well as an impromptu bout of busking at the Santa Monica Pier.
