Charlamagne Tha God Scores Victory Amid Legal Battle With Sexual Assault Accuser

Back in December of 2022, Charlamagne Tha God was hit with a lawsuit from a woman named Jessica Reid, who accused him of sexual assault in 2001. At the time, he was indicted for criminal sexual conduct with a minor as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and accepted a plea deal in 2002. Reid sued the Breakfast Club host and publisher Simon & Schuster over his book Black Privilege. It features his account of the incident and came out in 2017.

Now, Judge Ona T. Wang has sided with Charlamagne and his co-defendant. She granted Simon & Schuster’s motion to dismiss Reid’s defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims. “McKelvey’s recounting of the assault and its aftermath is entirely compatible with plaintiff’s account of the assault except for plaintiff’s allegation that she was able to see McKelvey’s face prior to his sexually assaulting her,” she ruled. “In any event, McKelvey’s account, although self-serving in its version of events, does not ‘expose’ [Reid] ‘to hatred, shame, obloquy, contumely, odium, contempt, ridicule, aversion, ostracism, degradation or disgrace.’”

Judge Wang also cited Reid’s reliance on the New York’s Child Victims Act as an issue. “The CVA does not apply to plaintiff’s defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims against [Simon & Schuster] because defamation and IIED arising out of the publication of a book do not constitute a sexual offense under New York criminal law,” she explained. “Second, even if the CVA did revive time-barred defamation and IIED claims that arise out of an alleged sexual assault, plaintiff’s claims were not timely.”

50 Cent’s $40M Wiretapping Lawsuit Gets Dismissed

50 Cent has had a lot of luck on the legal front as of late, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be running out any time soon. This week, a judge dismissed a $4 million lawsuit against the mogul, filed by Michael Caruso earlier this year. Caruso accused him of illegally recording a conversation at his office before turning it over to lawyers to use in legal proceedings. The court ruled in Fif’s favor, claiming that Caruso waited too long to file the complaint.

“These claims are time-barred. Caruso has known about the fact of the recording since 2021 and has been on inquiry notice as to who made the recording since that time,” Judge Melissa A. Crane said. “It is now 2024. The statute of limitations is two years. Hence, the claim is time-barred.”

50 Cent is currently suing Beam Suntory for roughly $6 million, alleging that Caruso and other former employees participated in a scheme to defraud his company Sire Spirits out of millions. His latest legal win is far from his first, however. Earlier this month, he beat a $1 billion lawsuit filed by former drug kingpin Cory “Ghost” Holland. He sued 50 Cent, Courtney Kemp, Starz, and Lionsgate, accusing them of using his life story as the plot of his series Power. The court sided with Fif, noting how similarities between Holland’s life and the plot of the show could be purely coincidental.

Fool thought he was GHOST😆,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram following the ruling. “Da fvck wrong wit these 🥷🏾’s man 🤨LOL @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.” What do you think of 50 Cent scoring yet another legal win this week? TI & Tiny’s Sexual Assault Case Gets Dismissed Without Prejudice

TI has seen his fair share of legal drama in recent weeks. Luckily, the trap pioneer has taken home at least one win. Last month, he and his wife Tiny filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit from an anonymous woman. She accused them of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2005. According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, it was approved, meaning that the case was dismissed.

“The court agreed with Tip and Tameka that Jane Doe doesn’t appear to have any viable claims,” the pair’s rep told the outlet. “As Tip and Tameka stated three years ago, these allegations are some of the many false, salacious allegations thrown out into the media in a cheap attempt to extort money from them.”

TI and Tiny have denied the allegations since the suit was filed. In their motion, they also argued that the statute of limitations for the woman’s claims had expired. “All the claims asserted in the Complaint are time-barred because the statute of limitations for such claims has long expired over sixteen years ago,” their attorneys wrote. “Further, notwithstanding the fact that Defendants Clifford Harris (‘Mr. Harris’) and Tameka Harris (‘Mrs. Harris’) (collectively ‘Defendants’ or ‘Harrises’), deny that any of the alleged conduct even occurred, the Complaint fails to allege facts to sufficiently establish any of the claims alleged in the Complaint.”

This lawsuit isn’t the only thing TI can put behind him, however. Earlier this month, he was arrested by mistake at an Atlanta airport. After it was confirmed that authorities were looking for a different man with the same name, he was promptly released. What do you think of a judge deciding to dismiss a lawsuit against TI and Tiny for alleged sexual assault? The actor was being tried for involuntary manslaughter, following a tragic accidental shooting on the set of Rust in 2021. Trey Songz 2013 Sexual Assault Lawsuit Dismissed

One of the ongoing legal troubles for rapper and singer Trey Songz recently came to a close. Last year, he was sued by a women for a 2013 incident that took place at a Casino in Connecticut. Songz was hosting an event at the casino where the unnamed woman was in attendance. While there, she alleges that Songz grabbed her bathing suit, exposing her breast without her consent. The original filing seemed pretty damning as she claimed there was video evidence to back up her claims.

But before the trial could reach a conclusion it was dismissed by the judge. That happened because Trey Songz’ legal team filed a motion to dismiss the case. While that isn’t normally granted by default, it is if the other party fails to respond to it. According to TMZ, that was the case when the unnamed woman who filed the case never replied to the motion which led to the entire case being dismissed. It’s a much needed win for Songz who has faced a myriad of legal issues and accusations of sexual assault in the past few years.

Trey Songz Lawsuit Dismissed After Accusers Fails To Respond To Motion

The accusations being made against Trey haven’t slowed down. Just this month Celina Powell made accusations against the singer that included kidnapping. She told a harrowing story of Songz allegedly taking her phone and holding her hostage for two full days without adequate food or water. It’s the latest in numerous concerning allegations of coercive sexual behavior made against him.

Just a few months before that yet another lawsuit was filed against him. This was once again for a sexual assault, though this time one at a private party. While he’s repeatedly tried to get lawsuits filed against him thrown out, he’s still facing numerous legal battles going forward. What do you think of the sexual assault lawsuit against Trey Songz being dismissed? Let us know in the comment section below.
