Cardi B Squares Up With All Challenges On ‘Bet It’ From The All-Female ‘Bruised’ Soundtrack

In one week, Halle Berry brings her brawler flick, Bruised, to Netflix but first, she and Warner Records have unleashed the film’s groundbreaking soundtrack, which is the first of its kind to feature a tracklist comprised entirely of female rappers. After hyping the soundtrack with its first two singles, City Girls’ “Scared” and Baby Tate’s “Dungarees,” the full project lands today with the force of a heavyweight haymaker thanks to punishing cuts like Cardi B‘s defiant contribution, “Bet It.”

Backed by a classic Canción melódica sample from Spanish singer Camilo Cortés, Cardi showcases a polished flow that suggests that she’s been hitting the gym as hard as Halle’s main character Jackie Justice in the film itself. Cardi also subtly nods to the film’s status as Halle’s directorial debut, snarking, “My life is a movie, only Cardi could direct it.” It’s a braggadocious and confident cut that also finds the new Bronx Bomber flaunting the spoils of her years of hard work: “More movie sets mean more movie checks / ‘Cause I live in a mansion, I don’t live in regrets.”

In addition to the above-mentioned artists, the newly-released Bruised soundtrack also includes original cuts from Ambre, Big Bottle Wyanna, DreamDoll, Erica Banks, HER, Flo Milli, Latto, Rapsody, Saweetie, and Young MA. You can listen to the full soundtrack here. Check out Cardi’s contribution above.

Baby Tate Trains Hard For An Upcoming Battle In Her Hard-Hitting Video For ‘Dungarees’

Months after she blessed us with the deluxe version of After The Rain, Baby Tate is hitting back to new releases. She kicked things off by dropping “Pedi” at the end of last month. Now, she’s back in action with her latest, “Dungarees” — a hard-hitting track whose new video finds her training heavily for an upcoming battle. The song is set to appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Bruised, which marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry.

The entire Bruised soundtrack is also notable for a special reason: It marks the first-ever all-female hip-hop soundtrack. In addition to with Baby Tate, there’s Cardi B, City Girls, Saweetie, Latto, HER, Young M.A, Flo Milli, Rapsody, Ambre, Dream Doll, Erica Banks, and more. The soundtrack will be released this Friday, November 19.

Prior to sharing the “Dungarees” video, Baby Tate connected with Princess Nokia for “Boys Are From Mars.” She also laid a fire freestyle over Doja Cat’s “Get Into It (Yuh),” which had fans begging for the rappers to connect for an official remix.

Halle Berry’s Film ‘Bruised’ Will Feature The First All-Female Hip-Hop Soundtrack

When the film Bruised comes out in theaters on November 17th and then on Netflix a week later, it’ll mark Halle Berry’s directorial debut on the big screen. She’ll also be playing the film’s starring role as the maligned mixed martial arts fighter, Jackie Justice, looking to make a return to the octagon as she looks to get her life back on track.

Along with Berry’s breakthrough as a director, the film’s soundtrack, out November 19th, will also be making history as the first all-female hip-hop soundtrack to a major film release. Co-executive produced by the Academy Award winning Berry and Cardi B (who will be hosting the AMAs this month), the soundtrack will feature songs by Cardi, Saweetie, City Girls, HER, Flo Milli, Latto, Young MA, Baby Tate, Rapsody, Erica Banks, Big Bottle Wyanna, Ambre, and DreamDoll. Of the 13-tracks on the album, six are original cuts written specifically for the movie and seven additional tracks that were inspired by the flick.
