SZA Dropped Cheeky Swimsuit Photos To Celebrate ‘SOS’ Spending A Second Week At No. 1

SZA has every reason to celebrate this holiday season. On top of appearing on Saturday Night Live, going viral with a parody track, and finally releasing her long-awaited sophomore album SOS, December keeps proving fruitful for the “Nobody Gets Me” singer. Yesterday, it was revealed that SOS topped the Billboard 200 for a second week.

It appears SZA spent the holiday in Hawaii. To commemorate her latest feat, she shared some pictures of herself on location, wearing a swimsuit that left little to the imagination. In the post’s caption, SZA appeared to reference a post celebrating the first week the album went No. 1 that had since been deleted. However, she was still in good spirits for the second consecutive week.

“Lol instagram randomly deleted my post last week .. but APPARENTLY ITS STILL TRUE THIS WEEK,” she said. “number 1 two weeks in a row .. God is incredible. I won’t repeat it all but thank you everybody for supporting me and speaking power n love into me. It’s 9:43 in Hawaii. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Life is beautiful and what it should be.”

Also in the post were other notable accomplishments, like the fact that SOS is the first album by a Black woman artist since Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled surprise album two spend its first two weeks at No. 1. There is also a stat in there that notes that SZA and Taylor Swift are the only women artists to have at least 20 songs charting simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100.

SZA’s ‘SOS’ Owns No. 1 For A Second Consecutive Week Despite Her Fear Nobody Would Like It

SZA can exhale. During an interview with Rolling Stone last week, she shared that she “never thought in a million years that people would like” SOS, her sophomore album, before its highly hyped December 9 arrival. Well, SOS became her first career No. 1 album last week with 318,000 first-week equivalent album units, per Billboard, and Barack Obama probably contributed to those numbers.

SZA held firm at No. 1 on the new Billboard 200 chart dated December 31 for a second consecutive week. According to the publication’s Luminate data source, SOS netted 180,000 equivalent US album units in the week ending on December 22.

Tracks “Kill Bill” and “Nobody Gets Me” also debuted at Nos. 3 and 10, respectively, on last week’s Billboard Hot 100. “Blind” came in at No. 12, with “Low” at No. 17, “Love Language” at No. 21, “Seek & Destroy” at No. 24, “Snooze” at No. 29, and “Used” featuring Don Toliver at No. 30. Elsewhere on the Billboard charts, “Kill Bill” notched SZA her first career No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart and second career No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

This week’s Billboard 200 top five is rounded out by Taylor Swift’s Midnights (No. 2), RM’s Indigo (No. 3), Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains (No. 4), and Michael Bublé’s Christmas (No. 5). Drake and 21 Savage’s record-setting Her Loss collaborative album fell out of the top five to No. 6.

SZA will take SOS on the road with opener Omar Apollo for her first-ever arena tour beginning February 21, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio.

SZA’s New Album “SOS” Tops Billboard 200 For 2nd Week

SZA’s newest album, SOS, has landed at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for a second week. She shared the highly-anticipated album back on December 9.

The album earned 180,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 22. Of that figure, SEA units comprise 179,000 while album sales make up 1,000. SOS debuted on the chart with 318,000 units to lead it above the competition.

SOS features guest appearances from Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and even the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. She also worked with producers and songwriters including Babyface, Jeff Bhasker, Benny Blanco, Rodney Jerkins, DJ Dahi, Gabriel Hardeman, Ant Clemons, Lizzo, and Björk. SZA released the singles “Good Days”, “I Hate U”, “Shirt”, and “Nobody Gets Me,” in support of the album. It is her first project since 2017’s Ctrl.

“It’s my first album in five years, so I’m ready to be a different person and step into this new part of my life,” she recently explained to GQ. “Really exemplify who this character is and get to know myself better while everyone else gets to know me live at the same time.”

Following the release of SOS, SZA will be touring across North America in 2023. She made the announcement on Instagram, earlier this month. SZA will be hitting Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., NYC, Dallas, Seattle, and many more beginning in February.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200 chart, Taylor Swift’s Midnights landed in second place. The former No. 1 earned 155,000 equivalent album units. There were also several holiday albums that resurfaced on the charts. Michael Bublé’s Christmas, Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song, Vince Guaraldi Trio’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, as well as Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas all cracked the top 10 as well.

SZA Has Landed Her First No. 1 Album As ‘SOS’ Debuts On Top Of The ‘Billboard’ 200 Chart

SZA wrapped up 2022 with one of the year’s highlight albums, the long-anticipated SOS. In a recent interview, SZA revealed she wasn’t sure how the album would be received, saying, “I never thought in a million years that people would like it. My dad’s visiting right now, with my mom. Everybody came down to make sure I didn’t lose my mind if the album went bad once it came out. And now we’re just hanging out, ’cause it didn’t go badly!”

Indeed, people have enjoyed the LP and now the charts are reflecting that: On the new Billboard 200 chart dated December 24, SOS is No. 1, making it SZA’s first chart-topping album of her career. To claim the spot, it overtook Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, which debuted at No. 1 last week. Previously, 2017’s Ctrl topped out at No. 3 while SZA’s 2014 Z EP peaked at No. 39.

Star power played at least some part in the album’s success: People were really excited about Phoebe Bridgers featuring on “Ghost In The Machine” and the album also features appearances from Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. It was almost busier than that, as SZA wanted to get Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Drake, Finneas, Frank Ocean, Halsey, Harry Styles, Kacey Musgraves, Kendrick Lamar, Olivia Rodrigo, Rosalía, Tyler The Creator, and others on the album, too.

Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ Now Has The Most Total Weeks At No. 1 In Over Five Years

Bad Bunny’s latest album, Un Verano Sin Ti, has performed tremendously on the charts since it was released back in early May. Just last week, it became the biggest album of the year so far by passing the Encanto soundtrack for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with 10. Now, the journey continues: On the new Billboard 200 dated September 24, Un Verano Sin Ti is once again No. 1, for the eleventh total week.

This is now the most total weeks at No. 1 in over five years, when Drake’s Views had 13 non-consecutive No. 1 weeks on charts dated between May 21, 2016 and October 8, 2016. Un Verano Sin Ti is No. 1 thanks to 97,000 equivalent album units earned (down 3 percent from last week). That total consists primarily of streaming equivalent albums units, 94,000 of them, equaling 131.66 million on-demand official streams of the LP’s tracks.

Meanwhile, Nav had a strong debut, unable to top Bad Bunny but still entering the chart at No. 2 with Demons Protected By Angels, while Ozzy Osbourne’s Patient Number 9 debuts at No. 3 and Kane Brown’s Different Man premieres at No. 5. YoungBoy Never Broke Again also had a big leap, rising from No. 71 all the way to No. 6 this week after its first complete charting week.

Bad Bunny Regains The Top Spot On The ‘Billboard’ 200 Chart After Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Debuted At No. 1

On the Billboard 200 chart dated August 6, Bad Bunny’s album Un Verano Sin Ti extended its total weeks at No. 1 to seven. Then, Beyoncé happened: On the rank dated August 13, Renaissance dethroned Bad Bunny to take over the top spot. Now, it appears at least some of the hype surrounding the Beyoncé album has died down. At the very least, it subsided enough for Bad Bunny to reclaim the top spot: On the new Billboard 200 dated August 20, Un Verano Sin Ti is back at No. 1 for an eighth total week, with Renaissance slipping down to No. 3.

Bad Bunny is on top again thanks to 108,800 equivalent album units earned for the album, up 4 percent from last week. This is the third stint at No. 1 for Un Verano Sin Ti: It debuted on top on the May 21 chart, then left No. 1 for three weeks. Then, it returned to No. 1 again before falling to No. 2 for the next two weeks. After that, it enjoyed its first multi-week run, spending five weeks at No. 1 before being dethroned by Beyoncé and then returning to the top this week. This makes Un Verano Sin Ti the first album with four distinct runs at No. 1 since Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour also had four stays in 2021.

Meanwhile, debuting at No. 2 on this week’s chart is YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s The Last Slimeto, while Eminem’s new best-of compilation, Curtain Call 2, premieres at No. 6.

Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Debuts At No. 1 With 2022’s Second-Biggest Week

When Beyoncé released Renaissance, it immediately became the talk of the music world for reasons both good and bad. It’s an album that people haven’t been able to stop listening to and now the charts reflect that: On the new Billboard 200 dated August 13, Renaissance debuts at No. 1, making it Beyoncé’s seventh solo no. 1 album. All of Beyoncé’s solo albums have now debuted at No. 1.

Renaissance finds itself on top thanks to 332,000 equivalent album units earned, which is good for the second-biggest week of the year, beaten only by the 521,500 units Harry Styles’ Harry’s House had during its debut week in May. It’s therefore also the biggest week for an album by a woman this year. Renaissance is also the first 2022 album by a woman to top the Billboard 200: The last one was Adele’s 30.

It’s only been about a week since Renaissance came out but the album has already undergone some significant changes. First, Beyoncé vowed to change the lyrics of “Heated” after a negative response to the use of an ableist slur. The album also made use of Kelis’ “Milkshake” but that musical nod has since been removed due to Kelis’ discontent, with her saying recently, “This was personal on many levels which people don’t understand.”

Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ Extends Its Impressive ‘Billboard’ 200 Run With Another Week At No. 1

Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti ended the month of July with a unique accomplishment. The final update of the Billboard 200 chart revealed that the album was the first since Adele’s 25 to register 11 or more consecutive weeks of 100,000 or more album sales. Shortly after, Un Verano Sin Ti went on to become the most popular album of 2022 after it passed the soundtrack for Encanto to become the most popular album of the year. Prior to this weekend, it had earned 1.606 million equivalent album units in the US, passing the mark of 1.565 million units that Encanto. That lead will only be extended at Un Verano Sin Ti logged another week at No. 1.

For the Billboard 200 chart dated August 6, 2022, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti sold 98,000 copies in the past week. That number is comprised of mostly streams as it put forth 97,000 streaming equivalent album units thanks to 135.9 million on-demand official streams of the album’s tracks. This past week marks the first time since the album’s release that it did not sell 100,000 or more copies, bringing its consecutive streak to an end at 11.

However, in maintaining its No. 1 position, Un Verano Sin Ti logged its 12th straight week within the top two positions on the Billboard 200. The last album to achieve this was Drake’s Views in 2016 which put forth 17 straight weeks within the top two positions on the Billboard 200. With Beyonce’s Renaissane expected to make its debut at No. 1 next week, it remains to be seen if Bad Bunny can hold on to No. 2 in order to keep the streak alive.

Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ Goes No. 1 Again While Doing Something That Hasn’t Been Done Since Adele’s ’25’

There’s little that Bad Bunny has accomplished in 2022. He body-slammed Brock Lesnar at the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble. He landed the role of a wrestling superhero in El Muerto, a new Spider-Man spinoff movie. He turn up in the New York City streets and somewhat had a wedding of his own. He even broke a Spotify record along the way. Altogether, it has made for a pretty impressive year that also featured the release of his fourth album Un Verano Sin Ti, which has absolutely dominated the album charts. For a fourth consecutive and sixth overall week, Un Verano Sin Ti is No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

For the July 30, 2022-dated Billboard 200, Un Verano Sin Ti reclaims its No. 1 crown thanks to 103,000 copies sold in the past week. That number is heavily comprised of streams thanks to 143.15 million on-demand official streams of the album’s tracks. With another week of 100,000 or more album sales (11 in total), Bad Bunny becomes the first to reach that number for this feat since Adele made it to 14 weeks six years ago with 25. Un Verano Sin Ti is also the first album to spend its first 11 weeks within the top two positions of the Billboard 200 since Drake’s Views did so for 17 weeks between May 21 — September 10, 2016.

Additionally, Bad Bunny’s fourth album could surpass the Encanto soundtrack for most weeks at No. 1 in 2022. The Encanto soundtrack spent nine weeks in total atop the Billboard 200 while Un Verano Sin Ti has registered six weeks in total.

Bad Bunny’s Time At No. 1 Has Been Extended To Five Weeks Thanks To ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’

On Saturday night, the MLB held its annual Celebrity All-Star Game and it featured names like Bad Bunny, Quavo, JoJo Siwa, and Simu Liu who all suited up for the matchup. Bad Bunny, to the surprise of no one, quickly became the star of the night. It took a while to see Bad Bunny step up to the plate as he called on Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and soon-to-be-Hall of Famer David Ortiz to do his first two at-bats. Finally, he stepped up to swing and it resulted in a single. Bad Bunny ended the night with two singles, but now, he’s ending the weekend with another week at No. 1.

Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti just registered its fifth non-consecutive week atop the Billboard 200. In the July 23, 2022-dated chart, Un Verano Sin Ti sold 105,000 copies which were mostly comprised of streams 104,000 copies being streaming equivalent album units thanks to 146.83 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs. This makes for the tenth consecutive week that Un Verano Sin Ti has sold 100,000 or more copies, tying a mark last set by Drake’s Views between the May 21-July 23, 2016 charts.

Additionally, Un Verano Sin Ti earned its tenth consecutive week in the top two positions of the Billboard 200. The last album to accomplish this was Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album between the January 23-March 27, 2021-dated charts.
