Big Sean Revels In Fatherhood With His Adorable ‘On Up’ Video Featuring Jhené Aiko

Big Sean’s new album, Better Me Than You, is coming soon, and he keeps the rollout rolling with a video for his new single, “On Up.” The video is shot from the perspective of Sean and Jhené Aiko’s son as Sean reflects on — revels in, really — fatherhood.

Sean began the rollout for the new album back in March with the release of the “Clarity” freestyle, then quickly followed up with his single, “Precision.” Unfortunately for him, the buzz for the new project was overshadowed and derailed by the battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

After lying low for a bit, Sean rebooted the hype machine with an eyebrow-raising freestyle for On The Radar Radio. While some fans misinterpreted the freestyle as a shot at Kendrick Lamar, the supporters of the verse’s true target, Kanye West, allegedly retaliated by leaking the album early. Sean shot down the theory that Kanye did it himself, and with a new management team in place, seems confident that the album will return him to fans’ good graces and earn him the attention he deserves.

You can watch the video for “On Up” above.

Big Sean Leaves Roc Nation Ahead Of New Album, “Better Me Than You”

Big Sean has signed a new deal with S10 Entertainment after spending the last 10 years with Roc Nation. The company is helmed by Brandon Silverstein and was launched in partnership with Roc Nation back in 2017. The move comes ahead of the release of his new album, Better Me Than You.

“Brandon shares the vision, understands where I’m headed, and I’m incredibly excited to work with him and the S10 team,” Sean told Billboard in a statement. Silverstein added: “Big Sean is an incredible talent who, even after topping charts, breaking records, winning awards and headlining across the world, is just getting started. I can’t wait for fans to hear the new music.”

Sean is gearing up to drop Better Me Than You on August 9. He dropped a trailer for the project, earlier this month, which ended by showing four pie-shaped graphs. Sean hopped on social media afterward to explain that they represent four emotions he dealt with while making the album. “When I was making this album, I was going through I felt like the same four emotions, really,” he said. “And I remember I sat down and I drew this chart one day that just represented how I was feeling. I hand-drew it and I was like man, I never really saw this chart before.”

He added: “I ended up getting it animated. and it’s four different charts that represent four different feelings, four different moods of the album, four different emotions that I was going through personally. First of all, I was under a lot of pressure. But going through that pressure led to clarity, which led to me being able to focus on happiness and living in that happiness briefly, and then going right back to the pressure. But I drew these graphs out and it really just brought the album to life for me.” The new project will be Sean’s first Detroit 2 in 2020. Big Sean Reveals Whether Or Not He Believes Kanye West Helped Leak His Album

With Big Sean finally getting ready to drop a new album after four years, he admitted that the recent leak has been annoying. “To whoever did do that, just know it did f*** me up”, he told his Instagram Live viewers. This new roadblock for the Detroit, Michigan MC was supposedly created by a supposed affiliate of Kanye West. It is worth noting that Ye and Sean have had an up-and-down relationship. The former admitted on Drink Champs a few years ago that signing the latter to G.O.O.D. Music was a mistake. However, in that same breath, some random online claiming that they were instructed to do this because of subliminal shots on a freestyle just seems too far-fetched.

That is exactly the same type of energy that Big Sean seems to be on further on into the IG Live. The “Yes” rapper cited their lengthy history in the studio together, recalling observing Ye when he was making Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, and MBDTF. Then, Big Sean went onto explain his love and loyalty to his former label. He was thankful to have sold 185 million copies through G.O.O.D. Music even though he did not take more money home than the higher-ups. Furthermore, when he was on the label, he explained that even when he received early access to artists’ music, Sean did not do any leaking.

Big Sean Gives Several Reasons Why Kanye Wouldn’t Leak His Next Album

All in all, Sean feels this entire Kanye West leak rumor is some “bulls***”. While that could definitely be true, people across hip-hop know how inconsistent Ye can be. We have seen him explode on some of his closest collaborators, only to rekindle with them later on. At the end of the day, we may never really know even if Kanye speaks.

What are your thoughts on Big Sean totally discounting the belief that Kanye West was responsible for the leak of his next album? Are you on the rapper’s side or the internet’s and why? You might not know it considering all that’s happened in the last few months, but Big Sean has a new album coming out. It’s called Better Me Than You and he announced its title and release date today with a trippy, psychedelic trailer after dropping the singles “Clarity” and “Precision” in March. However, it would have been easy to miss those, because almost as soon as they’d dropped, they were overshadowed by the tidal wave of Kendrick Lamar Drake disses that have entranced the hip-hop audience right up until last week, when “Not Like Us” hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 again.

Practically everything Sean’s done since has been compared to that, including his recent On The Radar freestyle, which so incensed some fans for allegedly dissing Kanye West, that they straight up leaked Better Me Than You online. However, Sean, who has made it a point to take things in stride and promote mental wellness, turned the added attention into an opportunity to promote a song with The Alchemist. He also released a new song, “Yes,” which you can check out below.

In the meantime, Sean’s big more active as a feature artist, as well, appearing on singles from both Jessie Reyez and Eminem.
