Jamie and Corinne Foxx to Host New Game Show 'We Are Family' in 2024

It’s good to see Jamie Foxx in action with his daughter Corinne Foxx for Beat Shazam’s seventh season of the music-themed game show.

It’s fair to say Beat Shazam was uncertain about its future after Foxx was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical episode in 2023. If you recall, TV powerhouse host Nick Cannon stepped up to temporarily fill Foxx’s role.

As reported by Shadow and Act, the first look clip of the newest season of Beat Shazam shows Fox back in form as the host and executive producer and his daughter Corinne returning as DJ and co-host. After head-to-head, “the team with the most money banked will outlast the competition and go against Shazam, the world’s most popular song identification app, for the chance to win $1 million,” according to the official game show synopsis. “Over the course of its six previous seasons, the show has given away more than $10 million. This season, the series will have special themed episodes that include teams of fathers, siblings, teachers, heroes and mothers–all battling it out to win the prize of a lifetime.”

Fox Entertainment’s president of unscripted entertainment, Allison Wallach, in a statement, says how Jamie Foxx and Corinne Foxx, a father-daughter hosting duo, were the best choices to host the game show.“As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”

Expect Season 7 of Beat Shazam to return to Fox on May 28 at 8/7.

Nick Cannon will be filling in as the host of the series, Beat Shazam, while Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized with an undisclosed medical emergency. The news comes after a report from TMZ revealed on Wednesday morning that the 55-yea-old actor has been hospitalized for over three weeks since his health scare. Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, who serves as a DJ on the game show will be replaced by Kelly Osbourne while she remains with her family.

Corinne provided the first update on her father back in April. “We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday,” she wrote at the time. “Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. There haven’t been any further details revealed about Foxx’s status. On April 21, a source for PEOPLE told the outlet that he is “OK” but “still in the hospital.” Martin Lawrence also told Extra at the time that he’s heard positive updates. “Well, I hear he’s doing better,” he told the outlet at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star’s unveiling ceremony. “My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him, one of the best that we got in Hollywood. Not only one of the best entertainers, but a good person.”

Nick Cannon also remarked that he’s praying for Foxx during an interview with ET. “You see, I posted on Instagram,” he said. “I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother, I know he’s doing so much better. I’m actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favor. I can’t really say what it is, but it’ll be out there soon. I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing. He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it.”

Foxx began hosting Beat Shazam when it launched on Fox back in 2017. In the time since, the show has put out five seasons and 64 episodes. Foxx’s hospitalization came while filming a Netflix movie by Seth Gordon titled Back in Action in Atlanta with co-stars Cameron Diaz, Glenn Close, and Kyle Chandler.

Jamie Foxx’s ‘Beat Shazam’ Will Reportedly Replace Him With As Host While He Remains Hospitalized For A Mystery Condition

Jamie Foxx remains in the hospital after suffering some sort of medical emergency last month while in Atlanta for his latest flick Back In Action. Foxx’s daughter Corinne confirmed that the actor was “on his way to recovery,” in an Instagram post on April 12th.

Due to his condition, Foxx will be replaced on Beat Shazam, the music gameshow which he hosts alongside Corinne. Corinne is also reportedly not returning for the new season, which begins filming this week, according to TMZ, in order to stay with her father in Atlanta.

Kelly Osbourne seemingly confirmed via Instagram that she would step in for Corinne as the show’s DJ. In a now-deleted Instagram story (via Page Six), Osbourne was seen on set, where an emcee was heard introducing Nick Cannon, who is expected to replace his pal Foxx, though no official announcement has been made yet.

Cannon recently gave a brief update to Entertainment Tonight, saying that Foxx’s condition had been improving. “Man, I’m praying. You see, I posted on Instagram. I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother,” Cannon told ET, adding, “I know he’s doing so much better because I’m actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favor.”

It seems like Cannon’s mystery favor involves him hosting the competition show while Foxx is in recovery. He sure does love hosting! In addition to excessive procreation.
