Overall, his status as an all time great was cemented two nights ago as he was able to finally break the all-time scoring record. This is one of those records that is almost impossible to break. However, with his longevity and consistency, LeBron was able to do what many once thought to be completely and utterly not possible. Even if you hate James, you can’t deny his greatness and what he means to the NBA as a whole. With this new record, he has only helped elevate himself amongst the game’s legends.

Going into the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron needed just 36 points to surpass Kareem. Many felt like this would not be possible and that he would just get the record tonight. Instead, James played an amazing game where he picked up 38 points. In the end, this was more than enough to put him over the edge that he needed. It was a truly historic night and James had all of the support in the world. Overall, it could have brought a tear to your eyes.

Following the game, LeBron went out to a night club to spend time with friends and family. Many of those people were at the game on Tuesday, and he clearly appreciated the support. If you have been following the Los Angeles Lakers, you know that there have been plenty of huge Russell Westbrook trade talks. However, there was one point this season when the Lakers were seemingly going to keep Russ. Although now, things may have changed. After all, the team was pursuing Kyrie Irving, and Westbrook was part of those talks. With the trade deadline just a day away, the Lakers need to act fast, and last night’s loss to the OKC Thunder has left a bitter taste in a lot of people’s mouths.

Overall, there isn’t a huge market for Westbrook. At the end of the day, he has one of the worst contracts in the NBA. Furthermore, he only has one year left, which means he will become a free agent. For most teams, he would just be a rental. However, rentals are only good if you are trying to contend for a championship. Needless to say, there aren’t a ton of teams that are a good fit for the point guard. Regardless, the Lakers are working overtime to find a team that will take him.

Now, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers are closing in a deal with the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves. “The Lakers, Jazz and Timberwolves are in discussions on a three-team deal that would send D’Angelo Russell to the Lakers, Russell Westbrook and draft compensation such as a first-round pick to Utah and Mike Conley Jr. to Minnesota,” Charania wrote. Of course, Russell already played for the Lakers, however, that was during the Kobe era. His time with the team came to an unceremonious end thanks to the infamous Iggy Azalea and Nick Young drama. If you’re a Lakers fan, this isn’t the blockbuster deal you were hoping for.

This is still very much a developing story, and there is no guarantee that the deal gets made. If I’m LeBron, I’m probably rushing to Rob Pelinka’s office and vetoing this deal. After all, this would be fitting as the Lakers were playing at home against the Bucks, who just so happen to be Kareem’s first team. Instead, LeBron decided to go for it right away, and in the end, his efforts paid off. Now, LeBron can continue building upon this record for years to come.

With LeBron becoming the league’s time leading scorer, Michael Jordan has decided to weigh in. According to Mike J. Babcock of TMZ, Jordan has issued a short message to LeBron. Overall, Jordan was congratulatory in his messaging and we’re sure LeBron will appreciate that. “Congratulations to LeBron on this incredible achievement. It’s a testament to his hard work, longevity, and his great skill,” Jordan said. MJ is one of the most competitive players in the history of the NBA, so we’re sure there is a part of him that would have loved to have beaten the record. However, it is going to be LeBron’s for many years to come.

At this point, the GOAT debate is just simply too close to call. If LeBron is somehow able to win two NBA titles in the next few years, then perhaps he can finally take that crown from Jordan.
