After weeks of radio silence from many of Hip-Hop’s most beloved acts, 2022 is already shaping up to be a big year for music. This Friday, The Weeknd will be dropping his Lil Wayne, Tyler, The Creator, and Jim Carrey-assisted fifth studio album Dawn FM, and Gunna will also be delivering his highly anticipated DS4EVER.

Now, as fans a proper release date for 2 Chainz’s newly revealed album Dope Don’t Sell Itself, Florida-bred artist Denzel Curry has resurfaced to share an exciting announcement of his own with a cinematic new trailer. In the 47-second clip, the UNLOCKED artist is seen walking through a desert while a jazzy, guitar-led instrumental builds in the background, and towards the end of the trailer, the credits for Denzel Curry’s next album, titled Melt My Eyez See Your Future, appear.

According to the trailer, an impressive selection of guest artists are set to appear on his forthcoming LP, including 6lack, J.I.D., Rico Nasty, T-Pain, 454, Buzzy Lee, Briget Perez, and slowthai. The production is also shown to be handled by the likes of Denzel Curry, Boi-1da, Thundercat, Robert Glasper, Kenny Beats, JPEGMAFIA, Dot Da Genius, Mike Hector, and many others.

“My inspiration behind this album, visually, was Akira Kurosawa films, like just the way he embodied things and how his films played out,” Denzel Curry said on Instagram Live shortly after his surprise album announcement. “Sonically — if you listen to the Soulquarians like D’Angelo, The Roots, [and] Erykah Badu, that’s the vibe I’m going for. And sprinkle some Kanye West Graduation on it, and you got it.”

When asked whether the album is his favorite that he’s made so far, the TA13OO artist assured fans that it is, and he also revealed how confident he is in the quality of Melt My Eyez See Your Future. “I’m not even sitting here and gassing y’all right now. There’s literally no skips,” Denzel Curry explains. “There’s no song I questioned, so I know when I give it to you, you won’t question any of these songs. If you wasn’t a Denzell Curry fan before, I guarantee you will become a Denzel Curry fan or become a Denzel Curry fan again. Trust me.”

Aaron Rodgers has been one of the best players in the NFL this season, and based on the Packers’ record, it appears as though the quarterback will be the frontrunner for the MVP award. Of course, Rodgers won the MVP trophy just last season, and now, he is playing even better. The Packers look like Super Bowl contenders right now, and at this point, not many teams can actually stop them as we head into the postseason.

While most reporters are prepared to give Rodgers the MVP trophy, it doesn’t seem like everyone is on board. For instance, Chicago Bears reporter Hub Arkush recently came out and said that he would not give Rodgers his vote as he feels like the quarterback hurt his team by not being vaccinated. Arkush argues that Rodgers is not a good guy, and therefore, is ineligible for the award.

Today, Rodgers was asked about these comments and whether or not he actually cares about them. As you will see, Rodgers felt disrespected by Arkush as the reporter doesn’t even know him personally. This then led to a rant about how Arkush is just mad that Rodgers has yet to get the vaccine against COVID-19.

“I think he’s a bum. An absolute bum,” Rodgers said. “His problem is I’m not vaccinated…. Maybe just for this season make it the Most Vaccinated Player.”

Needless to say, Rodgers isn’t too amused with what’s being said about him. The fact that it came from a Bears reporter probably didn’t do the comments any favors, either.

Kanye West and Drake gave fans an incredible show at the “Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert” just a few weeks ago. This was show in which Drake and Kanye were finally able to squash their beef, all while giving fans a steady stream of hits. In the end, Kanye ended up stealing the evening as he played all of his old hits, all while Drake played stuff off of Certified Lover Boy. For some, it even felt like Kanye was doing this on purpose as a way to show Drake that he is the Alpha.

On the latest episode of “The ETCs” with Kevin Durant and Eddie Gonzalez, the two spoke at length about the concert and what they thought of the whole experience. While Durant and Gonzalez thought it was a great show, they also felt like Drake could have done more in terms of song selection. If Durant had his way, it would have been a “Verzuz” type event. Regardless, Durant couldn’t help but marvel at Kanye’s song choices.

“Kanye killed it, both of them killed it,” Durant explained. “But to see Kanye go back and do some of his old stuff was definitely dope.” From there, Durant and Gonzalez theorized whether or not Drake would do something similar in which he performs all of his old songs. It’s certainly something that fans would enjoy, and we’re sure his biggest supporters would be willing to shell out the big bucks to see it happen.

Durant’s take on it all is one that is certainly shared by many. With that in mind, we can only fantasize about what a Drake and Kanye Verzuz might be like some day.

Asian Doll is having a pretty eventful week (as always). The Dallas-based rapper was a recent guest on the Fresh & Fit podcast, where she walked off the panel after being disrespected by the hosts, who told her they to stop interrupting them before telling her, “I don’t even know who you are.” She has been using her social media platforms to tear down the two hosts of the show and on Wednesday (January 5), she took a quick break to shoot her shot at Antonio Brown (who is also having a crazy week).

“Wassup, Antonio Brown take me out to dinner,” tweeted Asian after the football star stormed off the field midgame and quit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Brown, who has been promoting his new rap single “Pit Not The Palace,” has not responded to Asian Doll. However, one person has, and that’s her ex-boyfriend, rapper Jackboy.

The Haiti-born, Florida-raised rapper was dating Asian Doll for a few months last year before Asian declared that she was single on social media, but it seems as though Jack is missing his girl. He responded to her shooting her shot at Antonio Brown and told the wide receiver that he can take her out, but he wants her back after that.

“@ab go ahead Ima team player my n***a,” he said, inviting Brown to accept Asian’s date offer. “When you done with her pass her back family,” he concluded.

This might end up being some sort of a strange love triangle, or it could eventually lead to Jackboy and Asian Doll getting back together. What do you think of Jack’s response?

The festival circuit suffered from the lockdowns of the past few years including Coachella. The 2020 edition was stacked with headliners like Frank Ocean, Rage Against The Machine, and Travis Scott, though only one of them confirmed that they’d be returning for 2022. Frank Ocean is confirmed for the 2023 edition of the festival while RATM pulled out from performing this year. Meanwhile, Travis Scott remains on the line-up, though it seems quite slim that he’ll touch the stage in the aftermath of the Astroworld fest.

According to TMZ, Billie Eilish has filled in one of the remaining headlining slots for Coachella 2022. Previously, Swedish House Mafia confirmed they’d commemorate their return at the Indio, California festival, as well.

But, with rumors of Travis Scott getting the boot from the Coachella line-up, the festival could be preparing to add another performer. It was first reported that Goldenvoice was expected to announce his removal from the line-up. Even though there hasn’t been a formal announcement, reports emerged shortly after that Travis offered to perform for free, though organizers declined.

Despite the planning, it feels like the recent surge in COVID-19 cases might cancel the entire festival altogether. Earlier today, the Grammys announced that they will be postponing the 2022 ceremony indefinitely due to the rising cases of omicron and concern among artists and executives.

Zion Williamson has been out of the New Orleans Pelicans lineup for quite a while now and fans are starting to get worried. He got surgery on his foot back in the summer and since that time, he has ran into numerous recovery issues. Not to mention, fans continue to speculate about his weight as numerous photos showcase him looking fluffier than usual.

Today, the Pelicans decided to give fans an update on Zion, and as you will read, it’s not so great. As it stands, Zion has been told to go rehab away from the team. Just about a month ago, Williamson was told he could participate in basketball activities, however, he has since hit a setback that has forced him into this new predicament.

“Since we notified everyone on December 16 of his latest imaging, it was decided then by our medical team to dial his rehab back to only partial weight bearing activities. He continues along that path,” Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin said in a statement. “We also agreed that in order to put Zion in the best position to succeed, he will rehab away from the team at this time so he can focus on the task at hand.”

Shortly before midnight on New Year’s Eve, Anderson, Indiana rapper Lil Devin was murdered. Born Devin Swain, the 24-year-old rapper was locally known for songs such as “Long As I’m Free/First Day Out,” “Hate To See Me Up,” and “4:22 AM Freestyle,” but sadly, his life and career was cut short when he was shot and killed during a home invasion of the holiday weekend.

According to HipHopDX, Lil Devin was celebrating New Year’s Eve at home with his family when a group of masked men broke into the house and went straight for the rising artist. When police arrived on the scene, he had sustained injuries to his chest, but he ended up passing away after making it to the nearby hospital. 

In his final Instagram post, which was created hours before his death, Lil Devin wrote, “Everybody who fuck up be tryna find they waaayyy back to me, I was real actually [10 emoji] Wishing Everybody A Successful 2022.”

“It was traumatic — very traumatic [and] something that I wouldn’t want anyone to ever go through,” Lil Devin’s brother, Donald Cox, said during an interview with FOX59. “I wouldn’t wish that on anyone’s family. It’s definitely hard, we never really expected something like this to come about to such a phenomenal person. He was just one of those people that believed in me before I even believed in myself.”

According to the other locals interviewed in FOX59‘s news segment, Lil Devin had a strong presence in his community, and he regularly encouraged his young fans to obey their parents and finish school without getting into trouble. It is also reported that authorities believe that the shooting was a targeted attack, and although they have not yet identified any suspects, police are currently searching for witnesses that could result in leads.

Kevin Durant and Steph Curry had a lot of success together as they went to three-straight NBA Finals all while winning two in a row back in 2017 and 2018. During their time together, Durant was able to assist on a lot of Curry’s three-pointers, 153 of them to be exact. With that in mind, there is no doubt that Durant had some sort of stake in Curry breaking Ray Allen’s longstanding three-points made record, back in December. 

In fact, Durant made a joke about Curry breaking the record as the point guard gifted Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala with some Rolexes. This prompted Durant to question whether or not he was going to get one, as he clearly deserved it for his efforts.

During the latest episode of “The ETCs,” Durant spoke about the night in which Curry got the record. As he explained, he ended up partying with Steph in Manhattan that night as the Nets had just finished up a game from across the way over at the Barclays Center.

“I happened to run into him, and it was cool to see everybody from the Warriors and kind of be in on that celebration a little bit because I got a couple of assists in there too, you know?” Durant explained. Needless to say, Durant and the Warriors are still on very good terms.

As for Steph’s record, the Warriors superstar continues to build upon his feat. Once all is said and done, it’s going to take decades for anyone to come close to his achievement. 

There was a glimmer of hope that we were finally out of a pandemic throughout 2021. Rising vaccination numbers, the return of festivals and concerts, and the general freedom that made things feel as close to 2019 as possible. Unfortunately, Omicron came just in time for the holidays and things have seemingly returned to square one nearly two years after the initial outbreak.

The rising number of cases in recent weeks is already affecting several major events in 2022 including the Grammys. A joint statement from the Recording Academy and CBS revealed that this year’s ceremony will be pushed back indefinitely. “After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” the statement reads.

The Grammys were expected to return in its traditional setting at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles. The venue is still expected to host basketball and hockey games, along with other events. However, sources close to Variety revealed that there’s been reluctance among artist and executives, which promoted the Academy to shift gears this year.

“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority.  Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks.  We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon,” the statement reads.

A new year is upon us which means us sneakerheads are in for 12 months of fantastic shoes, especially from Jordan Brand. There have been numerous teasers hitting the internet, and fans are very curious as to what else could be in store for this year. As one can imagine, the Air Jordan 1 High OG will be a big part of Jumpman’s plans, and they even intend on bringing out some Air Jordan 1s for women, as well.

According to @zsneakerheadz, one of the women’s exclusive colorways will be the “Chenille” offering found below. As you can see from the in-hand images courtesy of @pvasneakers, this shoe has a white leather upper with some red leather overlays. What really makes this shoe stand out, however, is the Nike swoosh made with textured chenille material. It is quite the unique look and it certainly makes the shoe standout from other Jordan 1s.

For now, it is being reported that this Air Jordan 1 High OG will be released in April of this year for a price of $170 USD.
