Lil Durk And Future Treat Their Lady Friends To A Designer Shopping Spree In The ‘Petty Too’ Video

Lil Durk isn’t done with 7220 yet. After the album helped the Chicago rapper secure his first solo No. 1 album, he returns with the video for the album’s standout track, “Petty Too” featuring Future. The standout track was also the centerpiece of Lil Durk’s performance on The Tonight Show shortly after the album’s release, with Durk bringing out Future to perform alongside him to the live audience’s delight.

Like all of Durk’s videos this cycle, it’s directed by Jerry Productions and features a stripped-down concept, with Durk and Future rapping on a rooftop and treating some lady friends to a private shopping spree. As the women peruse a pair of clothing racks, Durk and Future declare their petty ways and spit boastful rhymes about their disdain for romance.

In addition to “Petty Too,” Durk has put out videos for the menacing “Ahhh Ha,” the chest-beating “Golden Child,” and the sneering “Computer Murders.” The videos helped push 7220 to No. 1, and helped Durk secure an extension on his record deal reportedly worth $40 million, something he was quick to brag about on social media. Next month, you can catch Durk on tour beginning April 9 and running through May 2.

Lil Durk Lands His First Solo No. 1 Album With ‘7220’

Lil Durk has been a steady rise upward in the hip-hop world over the last few years. Things began to change for the Chicago rapper in 2019 when he released his fourth album Love Songs 4 the Streets 2. When it was released, that project became his first release to debut in the top five of the album charts. Months later, he landed his highest position on the singles chart thanks to “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” his collaboration with Drake. Afterward, he reached new heights on the Billboard 200 with The Voice and Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 both peaking at No. 2. Now, with his latest album, Durk has secured his first No. 1.

Just a little over a week after he released his seventh album 7220, the project debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This makes for Durk’s first solo chart-topping album and his second consecutive No. 1 following Voice Of The Heroes, his joint album with Lil Baby. With its debut at No. 1, 7220 sold 120,500 album units in its first week on the charts. That number is comprised of 117,500 streaming equivalent album units and 2,500 pure album sales.

7220 makes for the fifth top-five album of Durk’s career. It also gives him the third-largest overall week for an album released in 2022. It sits behind Gunna’s DS4EVER (150,300) and The Weeknd’s Dawn FM (148,000).

Gunna is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Lil Durk Name-Checks Friends And Foes In His Defiant ‘Computer Murders’ Video

“Check on your mans, I heard he got hit in his head,” raps Lil Durk on his 7220 song, “Computer Murders.” “But he almost died so I can say his name ’cause he ain’t dead.”

Yeah, that’s how it goes.

You know what you’re getting from a Lil Durk video these days. The veteran Chicago drill rapper isn’t wasting money or time shooting these things. He and his crew find a spot, grab a few stacks of cash, point the camera, and get the footage before cutting everything together into a frenetic glimpse at their hectic lifestyle. “Computer Murders” is no different.

Likewise, the song follows a well-established Durk formula, as seen on prior releases like “Ahhh Ha” and “Petty Too“: Threats, boasts, and taunts directed at enemies whose lives have been endangered by the Chicago streets. Durk also name-checks the rappers and street personalities he’s been affiliated with through the years. However, he’s also cagey about his own involvement, rhyming, “I don’t mention dead opps / If you really did it, you ain’t gon’ say it ’cause the feds hot.” He’ll damn sure make thinly veiled references to them, though.

Lil Durk Pops Out With Future To Perform ‘Petty Too’ And ‘Ahhh Ha’ On ‘The Tonight Show’

Lil Durk’s 7220 rollout continued last night with a chilled performance of album standouts “Ahhh Ha” and “Petty Too” with Future on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Durk utilized a stripped-down stage setup and plenty of smoke effects to accentuate the verbal gymnastics the two rappers share on their joint song, while Future surprised fans popping out to perform his verse on “Petty Too” to the crowd’s delight.

Durk’s new album, which also features his surprising collaboration with Morgan Wallen, “Broadway Girls,” and the singles “Golden Child” and “Barbarian,” is projected for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 — the first of Durk’s decade-long career. Of his questionable “Broadway Girls” collaborator, Durk was gracious despite the country star’s racial slur controversy, saying, “Nah, he ain’t no racist. That’s my boy… we had [a talk] behind closed doors, and I’ll vouch for him and he good.”

Meanwhile, Durk’s tenure on Alamo has been so successful — his numbers have trended skyward with each new release, to the point he’s considered a genuine superstar within rap — that he was recently able to boast that the label “gave” him $40 million to re-sign.

Lil Durk Splits Time Between His Family And Touring In The Jet-Setting ‘Barbarian’ Video

Lil Durk’s new album 7220 is out and running up its streaming numbers. The ever-busy Chicago rapper supported the project prior to its release with videos for “Ahhh Ha” and “Golden Child,” and now he continues the rollout with his video for “Barbarian.” The video is a documentary-style glimpse at Durk’s tour life as he hops from city to city performing in sold-out arenas, raps to the camera while sitting on the tarmac in front of a private jet, and takes his kids on shopping sprees.

7220 is Durk’s first solo release since 2020’s The Voice, but in the meantime, his profile leaped considerably behind collaborations with Drake (“Laugh Now Cry Later“) and Lil Baby (Voice Of The Heroes) — so much so that he boasted that his label, Alamo Records (a Sony subsidiary), gave him a 40 million dollar deal. Although he didn’t reveal any details of the contract, DJBooth’s Brian Zisook noted that he could have licensed several albums over a set period of time, with the publishing rights to return in full after that period.

In the meantime, Durk is set to begin his 7220 tour in April, setting out from Phoenix on April 8 through May 2, when he returns to his hometown for closing night.

Lil Durk’s Label Gave Him $40 Million After The Success Of ‘7220’ And He Wants To Talk About It

The release of Chicago rapper Lil Durk’s seventh studio album 7220 was no casual affair. He released a slew of dates for his spring tour; he engaged in as many collaborations as possible, including 50 Cent’s “Power Powder Respect,” Cordae’s “Chronicles,” Gucci Mane’s “Rumors,” and 2 Chainz’s “Lost Kings”; he challenged Kanye by announcing that the record would drop the same day as his (both albums ended up being delayed).

7220, which was finally released a few days ago, was reported to have earned an estimated 120,000 to 130,000 total album-equivalent units in its opening week. To celebrate his success, he took to Twitter to flex: “My label gave me 40million let’s talk bout it.”

When he announced 7220 in November 2021, he promised it would contain “anthems and no skips.” It follows last year’s joint project Voice Of The Heroes with Lil Baby, as well as a string of well-received features with artists such as Latto, Moneybagg Yo, Nardo Wick, Polo G, Pooh Shiesty, Tee Grizzley, and more. After the rapper challenged Kanye in February, fans speculated that Durk had acquired a feature from Pete Davidson for his album to antagonize Kanye, and Durk had to take to Instagram to shut down the rumors, stating: “Plus Ye want to do a album together.”

Lil Durk And Future Admit To Their Spiteful Ways On ‘Petty Too’

Nearly a year after he teamed up with Lil Baby for Voice Of The Heroes and 15 months after he dropped his last solo project, Lil Durk is back in action with his new album 7220. The project is a follow-up to 2020’s The Voice which peaked at No. 2 on the albums chart, making it his highest-charting release along with 2020’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. 7220 delivers 17 songs, including the previously released “AHHH HA,” “Pissed Me Off,” and “Broadway Girls.” It also comes with features from Gunna, Future, Summer Walker, and Morgan Wallen.

Now that the album is here, one of the early highlights from it is “Petty Too” with Future. The track flaunts the rappers’ spiteful ways as they admit to being petty at various times in their lives, even with the women that they interact with. Prior to releasing 7220, Durk shared a video for “Golden Child” where he delivers a raw look into his life as he raps into the camera as his crew smokes and shoots dice in the background. The collab also arrives after Future deemed Valentine’s Day the “Worst Day” with a somber single last month.

DJ Khaled and Lil Durk Are Working on New Music

DJ Khaled and Lil Durk Are Working on New Music

DJ Khaled is fresh off NBA All-star performance and he’s back working like one. The Grammy-award-winning artist celebrated his Khaled album going platinum by popping a bottle of Luc Belaire Luxe and getting in the lab with Lil Durk.

This wouldn’t be the first time Dj Khaled and Lil Durk collaborated. Them two, along with Lil Baby on “Every Chance I Get” from Khaled’s Khaled album. “Every Chance I Get” not only went 2x-platinum but also reached No. 1 at Urban Radio.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart in its first week, earning 93,000 album-equivalent units (including 14,000 copies in pure album sales). This became DJ Khaled’s third US number one album on the chart.

It’s uncertain where this new music will land. Fans are still anticipating Durkio’s 7220 project, and Dj Khaled is always working. Recently he teased that he was in “album mode” when Drake gifted him a pair of his soon-to-be-released Nocta Hot Step sneakers.

Drake’s shoes are set to be released on March 3. While thanking Drizzy for the shoe in a video, Khaled said, “Imma call you later to finish that conversation we had in the backyard, you know, about album mode. Another one.”

Meanwhile, since Durk didn’t deliver his 7220 album, the Chi-town native did drop a video for “Ahhh Ha.” He also revealed that Ye wants to do a joint album with him.

This news came after rumors of Pete Davis being featured on Durk’s up-and-coming 7220 album.

Khaled and Durk are back in the booth. And if history repeats itself, we can expect another banger from them. Who’s the album this joint is going to be on? Who knows, but you can’t deny the magic they come within the studio.

Lil Durk Menaces His Opps With The Tyrannical ‘AHHH HA’ Video

Lil Durk fans eagerly awaiting his album’s release today — the same projected date as Kanye West’s Donda 2 release — will have to wait a little longer for the Chicago rapper’s next act. Durk announced the new release date for 7220 via an Instagram post advising the new due date is March 11. However, fans weren’t left empty-handed — along with the announcement, Durk shared the link for his latest 7220 video, “AHHH HA.”

Featuring a menacing, piano-led beat and threatening lyrics, “AHHH HA” is vintage Durk, boasting his street credentials and calling out his opposition. Meanwhile, on the song’s sinister chorus, he shouts out his fallen friend, King Von, while letting listeners know exactly what time it is on the streets of Chicago: “Don’t respond to sh*t with Von / I’m like, ‘F*ck it, you tripping, go get your gun,’” he rhymes.

Prior to dropping “AHHH HA,” Durk had been on a feature verse tear, popping on songs with Cordae (“Chronicles” with HER), Gucci Mane (“Rumors“), 2 Chainz (“Lost Kings” with Sleepy Rose), and Lucky Daye (“NWA“). He also announced his tour for 7220, which begins April 8 in Phoenix and continues through May 2, when it concludes in his hometown, Chicago.
