However, the prosecutors adamantly claim their lyrics contain admissions of guilt. On Wednesday, the specific lyrics that District Attorney Fani Willis wants to use in the case surfaced online. However, HipHopDX notes several inaccuracies in the lyrics.

Jozsef Papp, a journalist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, took to X to share the precise lyrics that prosecutors presented to the court as evidence in the YSL RICO case, which they claim proves that YSL committed criminal acts as a gang.

Wrong Lyrics

Documents obtained by HHDX reveal several instances of inaccuracies in the lyrics and the artists attributed to said lyrics. The documents revealed that Yak Gotti’s lyrics on Unfoonk’s “Mob Ties” (“knocking off your big homie b**ch”) didn’t appear in the song. However, there is a similar iteration found on 24Heavy’s hook. Even so, Yak Gotti doesn’t appear on the song at all. Elsewhere, another error was flagged on the lyrics to “Anybody.” The documents claim the lyrics are “Ready for war like I’m Russia/ I get all types of cash, I’m a general,” when it’s actually, “Ready for war like I’m Russia/ Latest Chanel for the luggage.”

The Impact On The YSL Trial

The use of rap lyrics on trial has been a contentious topic since the arrest of Young Thug. As the state asked Judge Glanville to make a preliminary ruling on the case, he noted “that during trial the lyrics are going to be subject to relevancy and objections,” if allowed, per Law & Crime’s Cathy Russo. Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel also argued that the trial would last a year if lyrics and music videos were introduced as evidence. Steel also mentioned how major artists, including those that Thug has worked with, have referred to themselves as “boss” in their music. ”We’re not bringing in Cardi B, Meek Mill, Drake, or Post Malone,” Glanville responded. What Will Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ Album Sound Like?

In just about a month, Nicki Minaj will release her long-awaited fifth album Pink Friday 2. The project will be the rapper’s first full-length release since 2018’s Queen. Though Minaj has delivered a healthy batch of singles over the years, a full album is truly what fans desire, and the fact that it’s a sequel to her beloved 2010 album makes it that much better for them.

Ahead of the album’s release next month, Minaj sat down with Vogue for a lengthy interview. This conversation gave some clues about the sound to expect on Pink Friday 2 starting with a quote from Minaj’s longtime engineer Aubry “Big Juice” Delaine. “Imagine a Nicki Minaj greatest hits album,” he said about Pink Friday 2, adding, “but all the songs are new.” The Vogue cover story also notes that the album was written from the “vantage point of a woman who has gotten so many of the things she dreamed about. And yet the past still tugs.”

“When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, Oh, my God, where was the me in it?” Minaj added. “So for this album, I went back to the old game plan.”

Elsewhere in the Vogue conversation, Minaj played a song for the interviewer Rob Haskell titled “Big Difference.” It’s described as a record that the rapper wrote “several years ago,” but recently fell back in love with. The interview goes on to say that “Big Difference” separates “Minaj and other rappers, in particular those who come casually into the game, get lucky with a hit on TikTok, and suddenly imagine that fame and clout are their right rather than the outcome of years of hard work.”

SAG-AFTRA Strike Ends After Tentative Agreement Reached

The months-long SAG-AFTRA strike has ended. The guild announced that a deal worth over $1 billion had been reached with the Hollywood studios. While the new three-year contract still needs to be ratified by SAG-AFTRA membership, the union officially declared their strike over at 12:01AM on November 9. While the exact details aren’t known, the new contract is being viewed as a massive win for the actors. It reportedly includes compensation increases, protections from AI, and streaming residuals.

“It’s an agreement that our members can be proud of. I’m certainly very proud of it. We said we would only accept a fair, equitable and respectful deal, and that’s precisely what this deal is. So I think our members, as we are able to release more of the details of it, will look at them and say, now this is something that was worth being on strike for,” SAG-AFTRA executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland told The Associated Press.

Hollywood’s Summer Of Strikes Ends

With SAG-AFTRA suspending its picket, thus ends a historic year of labor action in Hollywood. SAG-AFTRA had been on strike since July 14. They joined the WGA on the picket two months after the writers had begun their strike. It was the first time that both unions had picketed together since 1960. As a result, the film & TV production industry was brought to a complete standstill. The writers reached an agreement with the studios on September 26.

The AMPTP, the guild that governs the Hollywood studios, appeared humble in what could only be described as a resounding defeat for the powers that be. “The agreement represents a new paradigm. It gives SAG-AFTRA the biggest contract-on-contract gains in the history of the union. We look forward to the industry resuming the work of telling great stories.” The AMPTP had been staunchly entrenched for most of the strike, with many sources indicating that Hollywood was essentially willing to starve out its writers and actors if need be. However, despite the strike coming to an end, the industrial action means that Hollywood’s gears are unlikely to be running at full capacity for several more months.

One of the most influential artists in the genre has never graced one of the most well-known magazines. Nicki herself expressed her frustrations about this about a year ago with Joe Budden. Uptown wrote a piece about this in March and the Queen firmly stated her position on the matter.

“And by the way let me make sure I say this because you know how they like to twist my words, the same way I feel I should have already been on the cover of American Vogue, so should Lil’ Kim, if we being all the way one thousand.” She continues, “If this is what your magazine represents, “influence.” … If we being honest because every single any female rapper when we, when myself or Lil’ Kim goes on the internet, every day we see our influence. … So I’m not gonna say it’s about me only, right, and not give that woman her just due about what she did.”

L.A. Reid Sued By Former Employee For Alleged Sexual Assault: Report

Antonio Marquis Reid, colloquially known as L.A., has faced multiple accusations of sexual assault in the past. Now, a former A&R at Arista Records, Drew Dixon, claims that she faced harassment and mistreatment at his hands back in the early 2000s- when he became the record company’s CEO and president- according to court documents obtained by Rolling Stone. Moreover, the music executive had left this same position at Epic Records back in 2017 due to other accusations of abuse from Dixon. He launched the careers of the likes of Usher, Avril Lavigne, TLC, Mariah Carey, and plenty of others. This new lawsuit, however, might finally bring about some accountability or clear his name altogether if it’s an untrue accusation.

Furthermore, Dixon filed a lawsuit against L.A. Reid in New York’s Southern District under the Adult Survivors Act. This provides a one-year window for assault victims to bring a civil suit forward past the statute of limitations’ expiration date. This particular window closes on November 24. Specifically, Dixon accused the record producer and acclaimed behind-the-scenes boss of constant harassment and two instances of sexual assault in 2001. During her initial claims in 2017, he released an apology statement for how his words were “misinterpreted.”

“L.A. Reid is a known predator, who uses his singular professional power to force himself on his victims,” Dixon stated, Rolling Stone reports. “In my case, his persistent campaign of sexual harassment and assault forced me to abandon the work I loved. I was at the top of my game in the music business, having worked my way up from internships and a job as a receptionist.” She alleges that the two instances of assault in question were once on a private plane, and another in the back of his car.

Meanwhile, this follows Dixon’s own accusations of sexual assault against Russell Simmons while she was at Def Jam, which is what caused her to go to Arista in the first place. Overall, there are a lot of moving pieces here, and we’ll have to see if this ends up fully resolving if court. LaMelo Ball & PUMA Sued By Big Baller Brand Co-Founder

LaMelo Ball, along with his family and sneaker giant PUMA, have been sued by Alan Foster, the co-founder of Big Baller Brand. Foster claims that he was integral to the early success of the Ball Family sneaker brand and lost out on millions of dollars when patriarch LaVar ousted Foster by creating a new BBB entity. Amongst his claims, Foster alleges to have been the mastermind, and trademark owner, for LaMelo’s first signature show, the MB1. Furthermore, Foster named PUMA in the suit, stating that the MB.01 shoe the company developed for LaMelo infringed on his trademark.

“LaMelo was instrumental in creating his first signature shoe with Big Baller Brand. He was fully aware of the existence of the LaMelo Trademarks — he helped design them. He knew that his Big Baller Brand signature shoe was called the ‘MB1’ and that the name was protected by federal trademark. Yet, despite his knowledge of all of this, LaMelo willfully and deliberately chose to name the signature shoe he created and designed with PUMA the ‘MB1’ in violation of the LaMelo Trademarks,” Foster wrote in the suit. He is reportedly seeking $200 million in damages. Furthermore, Foster has previously sued, and been sued by, the Ball family.

LaMelo Ball Enjoying Solid Start To Season

Away from the courtroom, LaMelo is enjoying a solid start to the 2023/24 NBA season. Through seven games, he is averaging 19.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists. Furthermore, he has put up at least 30 points in back-to-back games in recent losses against Dallas and Washington. Currently, Terry Rozier leads the Hornets in scoring while new starting center Mark Williams, who won the job over Kai Jones, is the top rebounding. Vaunted rookie Brandon Miller is yet to earn a starting role, coming off the bench in five of his seven appearances.

However, the Hornets are still firmly a team in the midst of a rebuild. Charlotte is 2-5, having picked up a shock season-opening win over the Hawks as well as a one-point win over the Pacers. Their most recent game was a thorough rout at the hands of the Wizards, losing 132-116. Despite this, the season is less than ten games old. Furthermore, Charlotte’s division is surprisingly competitive. The Hawks are 4-3 leaders. Meanwhile, last year’s NBA Finals participants Miami are 4-4. If the Charlotte can build off LaMelo’s strong start, they could be a fringe play-in team.
