Is “Snowfall” Better Than “The Wire?” Joe Budden Podcast Co-Host Mal Sparks Debate

Wait… is Snowfall officially a better show than The Wire? The FX crime drama has been one of the hottest shows on television all year but people can’t really be saying that it’s surpassed The Wire? Right?

Joe Budden Podcast co-host Mal has sparked a heated debate on social media after claiming that he believes Snowfall is a better program than The Wire. The fourth season of Snowfall has been earning rave reviews and the John Singleton-produced drama seems to be the latest craze on television. While some people agree that it has the potential to eventually pass The Wire, the majority of people commenting on Mal’s hot take are arguing that there is no defeating The Wire… ever.

“I can always appreciate the boldness of a person who comes on here and tries to convince people that a show is better than The Wire,” responded one fan. “But, you just aren’t going to win that battle,” he concluded. That seems to be the general consensus. While everyone respects that Snowfall is one of the best shows on television, not everybody understands why the debate is even occurring. “Trying to lump any show about drugs in with THE WIRE is disrespectful on so many levels,” said one commenter.

Let us know what you think about this. Is Snowfall better than The Wire? Do you think the two should even be compared? Check out some responses below.

Georgia Police Shoot & Kill Black Man At His Home, Family Counters Cop’s Story

Another Black man’s life has been lost due to a police shooting.

On Monday, Matthew Zadok Williams, 35, was shot and killed in his home near Decatur, Georgia around 4 p.m. after DeKalb County police responded to reports of a man with a knife, per the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, although they have not released any audio from a 911 call yet, nor have they confirmed who placed this call. The police are alleging that he “lunged at officers with a knife on two separate occasions,” ultimately leading to the shooting, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

However, the family of the victim does not believe this narrative.

Wiliams’ sister, Hahnah Williams, told the publication that he was a “non-violent person.” She added, “He wouldn’t kill a bug.” His mother and his sisters are adamant on getting the DeKalb County Police Department to release the body camera footage of the incident, as they feel he would not show any aggression toward the cops.

One of Williams’ neighbors said he saw Matthew flee from officers and jump through a glass window before the first round of gunfire. The neighbor also mentioned he didn’t see Williams with any kind of weapon, and after Matthew dove into the window, he heard someone scream and a gun go off once, followed by several other shots shortly after.

The family’s attorney Mawuli Davis told the AJC, “Based on what we’re hearing, whatever happened is very, very different from what police are reporting.” The attorney also called for the bodycam footage to be released.

Hahnah said she believes Matthew was dealing with a plumbing problem outside of his condo, and neighbors saw him with a blue bucket– but no knife. She thinks the officers “caught him by surprise” ultimately leading to him running and breaking his window. “He was so scared, he kicked his own window in just to get away,” she said.

Natalie Ammons, a GBI spokeswoman, said officers attempted to use a taser on Williams instead of a gun, but the taser didn’t work, leading to the use of their firearms. The DKCB has launched an internal investigation on the incident.

Williams’ mother Chris Ann Lewis said the police didn’t notify her of her son’s death until the following day, according to the AJC.

The victim’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help support them with legal fees in seeking justice for his death.

Ralo Has Decided To Plea Guilty In Marijuana Trafficking Case: Report

Three years ago, Atlanta rapper and Gucci Mane affiliate Ralo was arrested alongside 13 others and indicted on charges of trafficking millions of dollars worth of marijuana. With the possibility of facing a maximum 40-year sentence, Ralo initially decided to plead not guilty, as he was adamant that he would beat the case. Last year, the Atlanta rapper was nearly granted a $250 thousand bond before evidence that he was orchestrating drug deals from behind bars surfaced, and to this day, Ralo remains in jail.

At the beginning of this month, the Free Ralo movement appeared to gain some much-needed steam when Drake and several other artists within the music industry signed a letter sent to President Joe Biden in hopes that he would officially grant Ralo a presidential pardon. Yet weeks later, Ralo’s legal battle has reportedly taken an unexpected turn.

VladTV has retrieved a court document filed Tuesday by U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman, and according to the outlet, the court has been informed that Ralo “intends to enter a guilty plea in this case.” The rapper faces charges of trafficking and conspiring to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, and VladTV’s exclusive report reveals that he has decided to plead guilty to at least one of the charges.

Stay tuned for updates in this case, and as always, Free Ralo

Rico Nasty Haunts The Suburbs In Her Claymation ‘Check Me Out’ Video

Since the release of her anticipated debut album Nightmare Vacation, Rico Nasty has stayed busy. She’s already shared a visual component to a handful of the album’s tracks like “OHFR?,” “P**sy Poppin,” and “Let It Out.” But now, she’s called on claymation artists to envision an eerie world for her “Check Me Out” video.

Animated by the studio Open The Portal, the rapper’s “Check Me Out” video sees her armed with Edward Scissorhands-like fingers. She haunts the suburbs, keeping her eye out for her next victim. Rico Nasty eventually stumbles upon a family of wolves, but instead of turning them into a tasty meal, she simply offers her haircutting services.

Ahead of the release of Nightmare Vacation, Rico Nasty sat down with Uproxx to explain how she’s able to easily brush off haters:

“They just always saying something about somebody that’s different, but they still listen to them,” she observes. “It’s just like a new flavor. If I go to a restaurant and they tell me it’s a new dish I never ate before, I’m going to ask questions. ‘What is in this? What’s in this? Where did you make it? How did you make it?’ I’ve never had it before, so I’m going to ask questions. That’s how the audience is. They always ask questions. I feel like they’re never going to be satisfied because there’s no such thing as a perfect human being.”

Rolling Loud Miami Gets Pushed Back, New Dates Set For This Summer

Over the last handful of years, Rolling Loud has become one of the most thrilling and hyped music festivals in America. The Hip-Hop festival has previously granted a stage to some of the biggest rappers in the music industry as well as several of the most captivating rising acts in recent memory, from xxxtentacion, Juice WRLD, and Playboi Carti to Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, and J. Cole. Like practically every other music festival in the world, Rolling Loud had to cancel its 2020 Miami festival due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but the event was ambitiously rescheduled to return to Miami this May.

Now, in a somewhat expected move, Rolling Loud has made the difficult decision to push back the beloved Hip-Hop festival and abandon its previously scheduled May dates.

In a released statement, the massive Hip-Hop music festival said, “Thank you all for your patience. We kept the faith as long as we could for the May dates, but ultimately we still face challenges that prevent us from gathering together at Rolling Loud Miami in early May. With that being said, we are excited to announce that Rolling Loud will now take place on July 23-25, 2021 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens!”

“We want to extend a massive thank you to all of our ragers who have held onto their tickets. Those who can’t make the new dates will have the opportunity to obtain a refund,” Rolling Loud‘s statement continues. “Information on how to obtain a refund will be sent out to ticket holders later this month. We can’t wait to reunite together in the pits we’ve all grown to love (and miss) so much. Lineup, show details, on-sale, and more information coming soon, so stay tuned!”

Although Rolling Loud’s statement does mean that the fan-favorite festival has unfortunately been pushed back once again, it does offer transparency to fans who have already bought tickets and made travel and lodging arrangements. The festival has also revealed that it is actively working to maintain as much of 2020’s original lineup, including the highly anticipated headline performances from Post Malone and A$AP Rocky.

Stay tuned for more Rolling Loud updates, as more are sure to be announced soon.

Kodak Black Might Have A Snitch Problem

We might not have witnessed the end of Kodak Black’s troubling issues with law enforcement. According to the Florida rapper’s latest tweets, there are people that want to see him get taken down a notch, and apparently, they’ve gone to the police to try and get Kodak locked up again.

Sending off some strongly-worded tweets aimed at his opposition, Kodak Black warned the people trying to take him down that he’s virtually off the grid and won’t be stopped this time around.

“I Hate You N***as Got My Name Gettin Airplay Out Here When I Ain’t Come Home On No B.S,” he started, hinting that there could be more drama on the way. “Got These [Cops] Pullin Down On My People Throwin Hints Out There & Sh*t. I Ain’t On Nothing.”

He went on to claim his set before stating that he’s unstoppable.

“Erybody Know I’m Smush Gang, Sniper Gang, Stretch Gang,” he added. “Stop Tweeting Out Here & Puttin Insurance On Yourself If You Really On Sumn. The Only Way That You Can Beat Me If I Catch Me A Case. I’m Out The Grid Tho Fasho, All Da Way Out Da Way.”

Considering the cops are allegedly on him already, there’s a chance that they might be looking for reasons to get him back to prison. Hopefully, that’s not the case. Do you think Kodak needs to be more careful in the streets?

Cordae Teases New Single Dropping Next Week

There are many who count Cordae among the game’s best new lyricists, eagerly awaiting to see how the self-proclaimed Lost Boy moves on his anticipated sophomore album. And though some might lament the time spent between releases, others recall that old adage that so often holds true: good things come to those who wait.

And while it has admittedly been somewhat of a wait since we heard a substantial release from Cordae, it would appear that his comeback is on the horizon. In fact, the rapper has officially confirmed that he’ll be dropping off some new music next week, taking to Twitter to preview his next single.

Over a bouncy beat that sounds like something circa Kanye’s Life Of Pablo, Cordae kicks off with some wholesome bars — at least until something else catches his eye. “I dream in color and I sleep on a canvas,” he raps. “I think we all need each other, empathy that can be our advantage / bad bitch, speaks creole and Spanish / she looks this way then I’m liking my chances / aw man, why I go on these tangents?” Alas, he cuts the clip before we can hear the answer.

It’s not the first new track that Cordae has teased in recent memory. At the end of March, he shared an upcoming banger on his Instagram page, a track that will likely see inclusion on his next body of work. Though he admittedly has entered a dangerous stage for rappers — which is to say, the coming soon stage — it would appear that fans will be treated to something at some point next week. Keep an eye out, and sound off if you’re eager to see what Cordae has been cooking up.
