Westside Gunn Spits Bars In New Snippets

Though many have been quick to praise the lyricism of Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher — rightfully so, mind you — the bars of Westside Gunn deserve to be celebrated as well. Across projects like Flygod, Flygod Is An Awesome God, Pray For Paris, Who Made The Sunshine and more, Gunn has proven himself to be adept with the pen, writing immersive verses lined with brutal violence and haute couture.

Though he previously toyed with the notion of retirement, the Griselda visionary has officially set the table for another release, taking to Twitter to preview a pair of upcoming singles. The first, “TV BOY” features production from the reliable tandem of Beat Butcha and Daringer, with whom Gunn has already established creative chemistry. “I miss my old celly, I wish that n***a’d come home,” he raps. “Been locked since the eighties never had a cell phone.”

The second of the batch, titled “Julia Lang,” finds him taking to a grimy synth-flooded instrumental from Camouflage Monk. “My Yeezys looking like moon boots,” he declares, his opening bars nearly drowned out by his signature DOO-DOO-DOO-DOO ad-lib. While it’s difficult to make out some of his lyrics, it’s evident that Gunn is bringing some intensity to the mix, and it should be interesting to hear how the rest of the track progresses. Check out the snippets for “Julia Lang” and “TV BOY” now, and sound off if you’re excited to see a new album from Westside Gunn.

Quavo & Saweetie Get Into A Physical Fight In Elevator Video

Saweetie and Quavo’s relationship continues to unravel as a video published by TMZ shows the former couple getting into a violent physical altercation inside of an elevator.

The video was reportedly taken before they broke up. It shows Saweetie and Quavo outside of an elevator in a North Hollywood apartment complex. It starts out with Saweetie seemingly throwing a few punches in Quavo’s direction. The Migos rapper dodges the punches, dropping his orange Call of Duty briefcase. He then shoves Saweetie into the elevator before they struggle over the briefcase. Quavo gains control as his girlfriend drops to the ground. She didn’t get up and was possibly injured. The elevator then starts to take them up while Quavo does nothing to help Saweetie get up. He periodically looks over at her on the ground before the elevator door opens. A man is standing in front, looking in and deciding not to come inside.

Eventually, they get to their floor and Quavo gets out, placing the briefcase in front of the door so it doesn’t close. Quavo stands in the doorway, looking at his girlfriend as she remains on the ground. Again, he does not help her up. After about twenty seconds, she stands up and limps out of the elevator.

Watch the disturbing video above. It seems as though their split was caused by more than just cheating.

In other news, Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff are rumored to have gotten into a physical altercation this week with Instagram personality Justin LaBoy. Read more about that here.

Vince Staples Returns With An Emotive Verse On Tiana Major9’s ‘Real Affair’ Remix

British R&B singer-songwriter Tiana Major9 is currently working on the follow-up to her 2020 Motown debut At Sixes And Sevens, but while fans await more information on its impending release, Major9 has been sharing a string of acoustic performances and remixes of fan favorites from the confessional full-length, including today’s drop, the “Real Affair” remix featuring Vince Staples.

Although the song’s theme would appear to be outside of Vince’s usual wheelhouse — it’s a song about smoking away the breakup blues, and Vince is notoriously straight-edge — he acquits himself well, choosing to focus on the breakup blues part more than the smoking one. “If anything, I know we got through whatever roadblocks,” he muses. “I ain’t gotta feel on the flame to know the stove hot.”

Tiana’s remix EP is set for an April 2 release date and features her recently released collaboration with Lucky Daye, “On Read,” as well as an appearance from SiR of Top Dawg Entertainment. She recently revealed that she’s in “album mode,” teasing the phrase with a game of hangman on her Twitter. Meanwhile, Vince most recently popped up on Lil Yachty’s “In My Stussy’s,” but has otherwise been laying low, leaving fans to wonder when his FM! follow-up for Motown Records will arrive.

Cardi B Wants To Launch A Haircare Brand To Educate People About Different Types Of Afro-Latina Hair

Cardi B gets pulled into conversations about cultural appropriation so often, that she feels as though she has to give a history lesson every few months. The rapper is Dominican and has long embraced her Afro-Latina roots, continually noting that nationality is different from race. Now, the singer aims to take the conversation off Twitter and into the beauty market with her own line of hair products that will educate consumers on various hair types.

Cardi has long been open about her hair care methods, which oftentimes involve natural DIY hair masks. But after being pulled into yet another Twitter conversation about race and nationality, Cardi wants to take her beauty secrets to the public while also educating people about Afro-Latina culture. “Hair texture def don’t make you a race however I am Afro Latina,” she responded to someone on Twitter earlier this week.

Detailing her new endeavor in an Instagram post, the rapper wrote that she has been working on at-home haircare for her and her daughter for some time now:

Snot Is Not Okay In His Contemplative ‘Life’ Video

Snot’s streaming of videos from Beautiful Havoc continues with one of his most personal tracks from the Florida rapper’s sophomore album, “Life.” Contemplating the difficulties of living with himself, Snot admits, “I just wanna chill by myself ’cause I’m not okay.”

In the video, Snot stares out a bedroom window during a storm, watching his child doppelganger drive off in a station wagon. Elsewhere, Snot wanders through a field alone holding a pistol, which he points at another double of himself in a surreal, self-destructive murder-suicide. At the end of the video, though, his dark thoughts are interrupted by his child self embracing him, prompting a smile and a friendly wave out the window.

“Life” brings the total of videos from the project to seven. Snot kicked off the deluge in September with “Revenge,” then followed up a month later with the Flo Milli-featuring “Mean.” Although his next single, “Sangria” featuring Denzel Curry, was released ahead of the album drop, Snot’s frantic video for the track didn’t arrive until February this year.

Between then and now, Snot pushed out three more videos: The violent “Who Do I Trust,” the antisocial “Watch Out,” and the Iann Dior-featuring romp, “Like Me.”

Today, Seth Rogen addressed the situation to clarify any rumors regarding the actress. Rogen said that his comment “misrepresents what actually happened” on the set of This Is The End with Emma Watson to address the narrative that she was “uncool or unprofessional.”

Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s shitty that the perception is that she did, The scene that was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed drastically and was not what she agreed to,” he said. “The narrative that she was in some way uncool or unprofessional is complete bullshit.”

Rogen explained that it was his responsibility to elaborate on what was actually going down to Watson in the first place. “I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable position. She and I spoke on the night; it was overall a shitty situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did.”

The scene in question revolves around Danny McBridge as a cannibal and Channing Tatum being held on a leash. Rogen said that they agreed that she would be removed from the scene. However, he did express his gratitude to be able to work with her. “I am sorry and disappointed it happened and I wish I had done more to prevent it,” he concluded.

Mutations In COVID-19 Virus Could Make The Vaccine Ineffective Within A Year

It finally seemed like the United States and much of the world could finally be on their way to a COVID-19 free world by the end of the year. As mass vaccination efforts continue and overall virus infection rates decrease countrywide, President Biden has been holding true to his promise to ramp up the government response to the pandemic. An unforeseeable wildcard that could extend the recovery time from the pandemic lies in the variations of the virus that have emerged.

As reported by NBC News, the current COVID-19 vaccines on the market could become ineffective against the virus as soon as next year due to mutations in the strain. According to a new survey taken by The People’s Vaccine Alliance, nearly 65% of the 77 epidemiologists, virologists, and infectious disease specialists who were surveyed think the window for the vaccine’s effectiveness sits at around nine months or less.

Less than one-eighth of those surveyed reported that they believed these variants would not make the current vaccine ineffective. The majority, however, believe we have, “a year or less before the virus mutates to the extent that the majority of first-generation vaccines are rendered ineffective and new or modified vaccines are required.” The experts surveyed are from some of the world’s leading academic institutions across 28 countries.

Additionally, the survey found that 88% of experts agree that, “persistent low vaccine coverage in many countries would make it more likely for vaccine-resistant mutations to appear.” Judging by the pace of the current global vaccination administration, only 10 percent of people in the mainly poor countries will be vaccinated within the next year.

As more of the virus’ mutations emerge, vaccine developers across the globe have reported they’ve begun working on booster shots to deal with the variants.
