Jake Paul Has Partnered With Showtime For Next Bout, Says Network

There have been plenty of suggestions as to who Jake Paul should take on in the ring next, but we haven’t yet received confirmation. With only three fights, and three wins, under his belt, the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer is riding high on his handful of victories. Jake Paul has become one of the leading voices in the boxing circuit as of late, not due to his wins as much as his mouth, as he continues to poke and prod other celebrities into the ring.

Recently, we watched as Paul snatched Floyd Mayweather’s hat and took attention away from his brother at Logan Paul and Mayweather’s press conference. It’s clear that Jake Paul wants to match up with Floyd for what would be an epic bout, and Deadline reported on Wednesday (May 19) that Showtime confirmed that they’ve inked a deal with the rising boxer.

While Showtime did share confirmation, they were hush-hush when it came to the details. However, Deadline reports that Jake Paul’s advisor, Nakisa Bidarian, opened up to ESPN, stating that they’re in the “advance stage” of locking down a “potential opponent, date and location.”

“Jake is proud of the events he participated in with Triller and appreciates the opportunities they afforded him,” Bidarian told ESPN. “Jake is excited to continue his boxing career with Showtime Boxing. Fight announcement coming soon.” A Showtime deal for a newcomer is a feat of its own, leaving many boxing fans to suggest that the only way he was able to lock it in is because he may be facing off with a seasoned opponent. However, Paul knows the ins and outs of promotion and knows what to do to make the big bucks for promoters.

Aretha Franklin Biopic “Respect,” Starring Jennifer Hudson, Drops Extended Trailer

Aretha Franklin is considered one of the greatest singers of all time. With a career spanning decades, the Queen of Soul has certainly made her mark. A biographical film that chronicles her life has been in development for years, and is finally coming to fruition, soon enough. With two teaser trailers being previously released, the release of a third one gives greater detail to what audiences can expect from Respect, the biopic titled after one of her biggest hits.

Franklin passed away in 2018, but before she passed, she singled out one performer whom she preferred to portray her in any would-be movie about her life. Discussions concerning the film can be traced all the way back to 2006, when Franklin told Dreamgirls actress Jennifer Hudson that Hudson was the handpicked entertainer by Franklin to lead any future film project that featured her life and career.

The “Freeway of Love” singer got her wish. Jennifer Hudson will star as Franklin in MGM’s movie titled Respect. The Black Nativity actress will depict the Queen of Soul from her early years through her breakthrough in the 1960s.

The film also stars Audra McDonald as Franklin’s mother and Forest Whittaker as her father. The supporting cast features Mary J. Blige, Marlon Wayans, Tate Donovan, and Tituss Burgess. Skye Dakota Turner will portray the “Who’s Zoomin Who?” singer through her childhood years. Liesl Tommy serves as the director, based on a screenplay from Tracey Scott Wilson.

While the previously released trailer gave viewers a sneak peak at Hudson performing as Franklin, the newly released, extended trailer gives audiences a deeper look at what to expect from Respect. During the trailer, moments of Franklin’s childhood are displayed. One scene shows Franklin practicing piano with her mother. Another scene shows Franklin performing in her father’s church, with the churchgoers in awe of her talent.

Respect will be released to theaters August 13th. No news of streaming availability yet, although it is reported that MGM will release streaming rights to Amazon.

2KBaby became a name worth knowing back in 2019 thanks to his breakout single, “Old Streets” — his first and only Gold-certified release and to this day his most popular song. Jump to the present and the Louisville native is back in action with his latest track, “Great White,” for which he recently shared a music video. The track is the latest in a string of releases that 2KBaby has shared since he dropped his debut project, Pregame Rituals. G Herbo, YFN Lucci, and Lil Durk lent a hand to the full-length effort, which delivered more of what 2KBaby had to show as an artist. “My music can be therapeutic, it can amp you up, it can make you cry,” the rapper said in a press release. “I’m tryna just make pop sh*t,” adding, “Music that’s gonna sell out stadiums. Damian Lillard Defends Caleb Swanigan Against Trolls & Online Bullies

He was once a first-round NBA draft pick, but this week it was shared that Caleb Swanigan had legal troubles. The former Portland Trail Blazers star played his last game just last year, and since that time, photos show that he’s put on a few pounds, reportedly in excess of 400. Photos of a heavier Swanigan circulated with the news of his December arrest after police found over three pounds of weed in his vehicle. The internet can be a cruel place and soon, memes and taunts were sent Swanigan’s way.

However, not everyone wanted to join in with the online bullying. Crossed Sports reposted a tweet that showed Swanigan during his NBA career and what he looks like now, and the tweet included the question, “How the hell does one go from this to that in a year?????” Damian Lillard, Swanigan’s former teammate, came to his defense and questioned the post.

“If you gone post this sh*t with real concern that’s cool,” Lillard penned in the comments. “But don’t ask ‘how does one go from ‘this to that’ … he clearly having real life issues. That’s  how… you don’t know WHAT it is he’s going through to cause a drastic change . If you gone be supportive then do that but don’t ask no sh*t like that like it’s not possible when you naturally a big dude and go down a dark road.”

Lillard has been praised online by sports fans, publications, and his fellow players. Crossed Sports took down the post. Check it out below.

Future Seems To Take A Dig At Lori Harvey On Leaked Snippet With 42 Dugg

The relationship between Future and Lori Harvey may have been a strange match-up for some, but the two enjoyed the good life while together. They often shared images of their luxurious lifestyles, jet-setting for celebratory moments that included Lori’s birthday. It was just over a year ago when Future reportedly went all out for Lori’s big day, an event that included flying her friends out to Jamaica for a beachside mansion party unlike any other.

Months later, news began to surface that the famous pair decided to call it quits, and Lori has moved on with award-winning actor Michael B. Jordan. As those two continue to ease their romance into the public sphere, a snippet of a track featuring Future and 42 Dugg has surfaced, and it sounds as if Future mentioned Lori and her stepfather, Steve Harvey.

Harvey found himself as the punchline for several jokes involving Lori and Future’s relationship, but on this leaked portion of this new track, Future makes it clear that his romance with Lori is a thing of the past. “Tell Steve Harvey I don’t want her,” Future reportedly raps in the clip. Although it isn’t much, the mention has already set social media aflame and people are teasing the rapper for still talking about his ex a year and a half later.

Meanwhile, Harvey has recently mentioned that he has given Jordan the stamp of approval. Check out the snippet below.

Kim Kardashian Not Ready To Explain 72-Hour Kris Humphries Marriage To Kids Yet

For over a decade, Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been a staple in reality TV, and was the very thing that turned the Kardashians from a family name you might have been vaguely familiar with due to the OJ Simpson trial, to the most followed, multimillion-dollar brand they are now. After 20 seasons and a few spin-off shows, the family recently decided that their newest season will be their final one, thus ending an era in American TV.

In a new teaser for the KUWTK episode airing Thursday night, the reality stars discuss if, and when, they’re going to allow their children to watch the show they were born into. And if they want to be there when they do watch it. This discussion begins when Scott Disick asks Kim if her oldest daughter, North, has seen the show.

“I don’t really want to explain who Kris Humphries is,” is the main takeaway from the conversation.

Kim, who has four kids with Kanye West, including seven-year-old North, eventually answers by saying that North is aware of some of the memes created from the show due to TikTok, and will even tease her about it, but hasn’t actually seen the show. Scott, who has three children with Kim’s sister Kourtney Kardashian, responds to this by questioning when it would be an appropriate time for them to sit down with their kids and allow them to watch the show altogether, so they can be there to explain certain potentially-controversial moments from their past.

Kim mentions her ex-husband Kris Humphries and how she doesn’t want to explain to her kids who he is, most likely because their marriage only lasted 72-hours. Kim then mentions that she’s “hesitant” as she feels she’ll have to “explain a lot.” Meanwhile, Scott reassures her that the only one who “did bad sh*t on the show” was him, and that Kim has “nothing to worry about.”

The clip then ends with Scott and Kim joking that they should have named one of their kids “Truman” in reference to The Truman show.

Check out the short clip below.
