Dave Chappelle Releases “8:46” Special On Vinyl

Dave Chappelle is releasing his politically resonant 8:46 stand-up special on vinyl with a limited edition drop featuring red, black, and green LPs. The special saw Chappelle tackle racial injustice in America in the wake of the killing of George Floyd. The album’s title is a reference to the amount of time that Derek Chauvin held his knee on Floyd’s neck while killing him.

8:46 was filmed in the summer of 2020 at a socially distanced venue in Ohio. The special lasted just under 30 minutes.

“Do we want to see a celebrity right now?” Chappelle asksin the special. “… This is the streets talking for themselves, they don’t need me right now. I kept my mouth shut. And I’ll keep my mouth shut. Don’t think my silence is complicit. Why would anyone care what their favorite comedian thinks after they saw a police officer kneel on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds? I can’t get that number out of my head.”

Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter during his trial in April.

The vinyl can be purchased from ThirdManStore.com for $20. There were only 846 copies of the colored vinyl made and it is already sold out.

Charles Barkley Says Teams Only “Part Ways” With White Coaches: “They Fire Brothers”

In the wake of head coaches Steve Clifford and Terry Stotts parting ways with the Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers respectively, Charles Barkley said that only white coaches are allowed to “part ways” with their team, rather than being fired. Barkley discussed the different treatment of white and black coaches on TNT ahead of the second-round playoff matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Mutual parting of ways in Portland and in Orlando,” Ernie Johnson said. “Steve Clifford out with the Magic, Terry Stotts out with the Portland Trail Blazers…”

“America, that means they were white,” Barkley said. “They fire brothers, they don’t part ways.”

Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Johnson laughed as they moved on, welcoming Chris Haynes to the show.

Barkley has spoken about racial disparities between black and white coaches before. In the wake of the Nets’ hiring Steve Nash, Barkley defended the hiring by disputing Stephen A. Smith who claimed it was an example of “white privilege.”

“Steve Nash is a great player and a good dude,” Barkley said at the time. “But I was so disappointed in some of these guys. I was like, ‘Dude, Black guys have done this before.’ Now, do we need more Black coaches in the NBA? Yes. Do we need more Black coaches in college football? Yes. Do we need more Black coaches in pro football? Yes. But this wasn’t the right time to say that today. Good luck to Steve Nash.”

Kim Kardashian Is “Doing Great” Following Divorce From Kanye West: Report

Kim Kardashian is reportedly “doing great” months after filing for divorce from Kanye West, a source close to the pop culture icon recently told People. The source added that Kardashian is confident she “made the right decision.”

“She was very upset about it and really didn’t want to file,” the source said. “She has come a long way since she filed for divorce, though. She’s very happy and convinced that she made the right decision.”

Kardashian filed for divorce from West on February 19, 2021, and the former couple maintains joint custody of their four children.

“They both agree that the less stress the kids experience, the better,” the source said back in March. “Kanye loves his kids. He wants them to be happy, he doesn’t want to fight with Kim about anything.”

On a recent episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kardashian appeared much more broken up about the separation than the recent reports claim.

“He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him and does everything, and I can’t,” she said on the show. “I feel like a fucking failure, that it’s like, a third fucking marriage. I feel like a fucking loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy.”

Meek Mill Calls Out New York State Legislature: “Pass The ‘Less Is More Act'”

Meek Mill called out several members of the New York State Legislature, Saturday, advocating that the body pass the Less is More Act, a bill that would eliminate incarceration for technical parole violations as well as make numerous other reforms to the criminal justice system.

“I am calling on NYS Legislature to pass the Less is More Act before they leave town next week!” Mill tweeted. “We need meaningful parole reform in NYS now!”

He tagged New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl E. Heastie in the post.

“Yes! We need to pass #LessIsMoreNY now — thank you @MeekMill for the support!” responded NY State Senator Brian Benjamin.

LessisMoreNY.org, a site run to promote the legislation, explains that “approximately 35,000 people under active parole supervision in New York State who at almost any time can see their efforts to successfully rejoin the workforce and reintegrate into their families and their communities disrupted by reincarceration for a technical violation.”

The site explains that this “drives up the population in the state prisons and local jails, wasting taxpayer money.”

Having spent time in prison himself, Mill has been a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform in recent years.

Meek Mill Calls On New York Legislators To Pass The Parole Reform Act, ‘Less Is More’

As someone who’s been a victim of the prison system, Meek Mill has spent the last few years advocating for reform that would provide fairer circumstances to those who have been incarcerated or face jail time. So it should come as no surprise that the rapper is in full support of a parole reform bill that New York State legislators will soon vote on. If passed, the Less Is More bill will eliminate incarceration for a large number of technical parole violations. And in a post on Twitter, Meek showed his support for the bill.

“I am calling on NYS Legislature to pass the Less is More Act before they leave town next week!” the rapper wrote. “We need meaningful parole reform in NYS now!”

In addition to eliminating incarceration for technical parole violations, the Less Is More bill would also improve due process, provide quicker hearings, and deliver earned time credits for people under community supervision. According to Revolt, the bill is currently supported by more than 275 community and advocacy groups in New York as well as several Democratic members in Congress.

According to LessisMoreNY.org, a site dedicated to the bill, there are “approximately 35,000 people under active parole supervision in New York State who at almost any time can see their efforts to successfully rejoin the workforce and reintegrate into their families and their communities disrupted by reincarceration for a technical violation.” It adds that this risk “drives up the population in the state prisons and local jails, wasting taxpayer money.”

The new film, Passage, honors the 2021 International Woolmark Prize finalists which include Bethany Williams, Kenneth Ize, LECAVALIER, Matty Bovan, Thebe Magugu, and Casablanca. Solange has previously said that she aims to use Saint Heron to spotlight underappreciated artists.

Solange detailed her inspiration for the short film with a press release:

In continuing Saint Heron’s world-making practice, Passage further explores my interest in theatrical production through the translation of identity, spirit, philosophy and creation. Whether it be through album artwork, stage design, or filmmaking, I’ve always sought to create new visual languages that encompass the expressions my other works cannot communicate. I’m inspired to expand these processes through the Saint Heron Agency with a wider scope of collaborations and projects. To reflect on and honor the creative process with the 2021 International Woolmark Prize finalists, Passage aligns with Saint Heron’s mission to reverence creation as life, from abstraction to being. I’ve been a longtime fan of Wu Tsang’s work and to be able to work alongside her, the Saint Heron team, and all of the incredible artists and designers in the film, really fortifies the ethos of collaboration and communal creative exchange that we wish to continue to embody.

Emilia Clarke Speaks On Joining MCU For “Secret Invasion”

Emilia Clarke explained her decision to join the MCU with Marvel’s upcoming series, Secret Invasion, in a new interview with Comicbook.com. The series is set to debut on Disney+.

“I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world,” Clarke said. “To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”

While Clarke’s role has not yet been revealed, we do know that Samuel L. Jackson will star as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn will star as the Skrull Talos. The series is based on a 2008 comic of the same name.

“I grew up reading fantasy fiction, so I know that’s not the same as the actual comic book itself, but that was where my imagination lived,” Clarke said. “And so, then reading about superheroes for the first time, I’m pretty sure it was Superman that was my first ever. And Spider-Man, I kind of thought he was pretty cool. Spider-Man was the first origin story that I remember as a child reading and being like, ‘Oh wow, this is more than what’s on the page. This is a bigger world,’ and then being allowed into that.”

‘Friends’ Fans Think One Of Rihanna’s Recent ‘Vogue’ Looks Is A Joey Cosplay

Rihanna doesn’t miss, ever. Especially when it comes to fashion, RiRi has long been ahead of the curve, and she is frequently a cover star due to that very aspect of her fame. In a recent shoot for Vogue Italy, though, one of the looks had fans thinking about a moment from the Friends sitcom that involved Joey pranking his roommate Chandler. Maybe everyone just has Friends on the brain after the long-awaited reunion racked up Marvel movie numbers, or maybe this layered look would’ve brought Joey’s own version to mind no matter what.

See if the above photo doesn’t remind you of the shot where Joey puts on all of Chandler’s clothes in the episode “The One Where No One’s Ready,” in retaliation for Chandler hiding all of his clothes. You can revisit his version of the layered look in the clip above. And though plenty of Rihanna’s celebrity friends praised the look without a second thought, one fan mentioning the comparison in a comment was all it took for the Joey cosplay idea to take hold:

Of course, this wasn’t Rihanna’s only look in the shoot either, she had plenty of other high-fashion shots, including the epic cover. Check those out below.

Bandman Kevo Arrested On 5 Charges In Miami

Bandman Kevo, real name Kevin Ford, was arrested on five separate charges, this week, in Miami. Kevo was hit with gun possession by a convicted felon, using a firearm while committing a felony, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence.

This week’s arrest was not the first time Kevo has been in trouble with the law. The rapper has faced a litany of charges throughout his tenured career.

In 2014, he was allegedly involved in a bank fraud scheme that took millions of dollars from financial institutions by “cracking cards.” Kevo and others would lure in victims on social media.

“If u wanna make 1900 all u would have to do is open up a citi bank account n they will give u a temp card we would be able to do it the next day from the time u get the cards … !!! u can do this every week No BS! hit me back asap!!,” authorities say Ford wrote in one online message, according to The Guardian.

Kevo was also sentenced to 22 months in federal prison for a bank fraud scheme in 2016.

Kevo is featured on Chief Keef’s “Baller In Me” remix from 2015. He recently released a single, “Stop Playing With Me,” with WillGotTheJuice.
