Kash Doll Links Up With Juicy J For “Like A Pro”

If Kash Doll’s consistency and versatility throughout 2021 hasn’t impressed you yet, perhaps you’re not actually paying attention. In everything from her role in 50 Cent’s new STARZ show Black Mafia Family, her TikTok viral single “Thumbin’,” and a string of high-profile collaborations, Kash Doll’s success in 2021 has been monumental for her career. “Like A Pro” featuring Juicy J, her newest single, proves she has much more to come.

The production on “Like A Pro” sees Kash Doll stepping away from her usually simple trap beats and spitting over a beat more accustomed to Juicy J’s discography. With dramatic thorns, the instrumental seems fresh out of the late 2000’s bling era.

Still, Kash Doll and Juicy J have no problem spitting catchy flows and throwing out memorable bars on the track. Juicy J takes over the hook with an infectious repetition of “back it up,” while Kash Doll uses her verses to brag about her success and shush the haters.

Suffice it to say, “Like A Pro” is the flex anthem Kash Doll deserves to make after her recent successes.

Quotable Lyrics:

B****, yeah, this is Kash now (Right)
Crib on the water, put a lotta cash down
You h*** sanitation, I’ma take the trash out

Kid Cudi Is Writing A Movie

Kid Cudi seems to have had a serious lust for life over the past several months. The innovative and influential Cleveland rapper has been extremely active this year, from releasing an extensive apparel line with BAPE to appearing on both Pop Smoke and Skepta’s highly anticipated projects.

DJ Muggs And Hologram Serve Up Some “American Cheese”

DJ Muggs has been on an absolute tear of late, to the point where everything he’s been touching has turned to gold. Only not a pristine sort of gold, but rather a grime-coated, cursed sort of gold — but gold nonetheless, with every bit the same amount of value as the shinier sort. Between albums like Dies Occidendum and Yelawolf’s return to backpacker hip-hop Mile Zero, Muggs’ stride has brought delight to everyone who spent some time digesting his work.

Now, the legendary beatmaker has returned with another collaborative album, this time teaming up with Action Bronson-affiliate Hologram. Blessing the emcee with a slew of dark and absolutely filthy instrumentals to destroy, Hologram rises ably to the task, doing so without having to raise his intensity levels. Lyrically, his bars are razor-sharp, if occasionally addled by a drug or two, and there are plenty of clever punchlines and comedic moments to be found throughout.

“Smoke Weed And Figure Shit Out” finds Hologram seeking purpose over a sinister Muggs piano dirge, while the amusingly titled “Traditional Bull Shark” plays out like a hallucinogenic jam band of the dead. Though it’s likely this one will mainly please a niche audience, those who can appreciate the simple pleasures of an underground emcee putting in work over stellar sample-based production would be wise to queue this one up immediately.

Maxo Kream Returns With The Sentimental ‘Local Joker’ Video

The last time rap fans heard from Houston rapper Maxo Kream was 2019, when he dropped his critically-acclaimed second album Brandon Banks, which I called a “masterful character study” in my review. Since then, he’s taken something of a hiatus as he mourned the death of his brother and regrouped for his eventual comeback. That comeback arrives today with the release of “Local Joker,” Maxo’s first solo single since early 2020, and its sentimental music video.

In the song, Maxo recounts his Houston upbringing, telling tall tales of his days doing knucklehead activities in the hood and taking stock of his experiences’ effect on the person he is today. In a press release announcing the new song, he provided a quote explaining his mindset in recording and sharing it. “‘Local Joker’ explains where I’m at in my life right now,’” he said. ” love Houston, I’m from Houston. My merch is Houston-focused. My music has a strong Houston influence — everything is Houston, it’s local. You can catch me in any part of Houston with the local jokers – but at the same time, I’m not a local joker because I’ve grown and expanded the territory that I touch. But home will always be home- and that’s Houston, Alief, fasho.”

Watch the “Local Joker” video above and stay tuned for more from the return of Maxo Kream.

Air Jordan 13 “Obsidian” Officially Unveiled: Release Date

One of the more underrated silhouettes to come out of Jumpman is the Air Jordan 13. Michael Jordan gave this shoe some shine in the late 90s as he was gearing up to leave the Chicago Bulls for the second time. There were plenty of dope colorways that made their way to the market, and over the past couple of years, Jumpman has been stocking up on new Jordan 13 offerings.

The latest Air Jordan 13 to be shown off is the “White/Dark Powder Blue” model, otherwise known as Obsidian. In the photos below, you can see how the sneaker has a mostly white leather upper that engulfs each side, as well as the midsole. From there, navy blue is placed all the way down the tongue and the sides in a way that gives this shoe a streamlined look to it. Finally, powder blue highlights are found on the outsole and Jumpman logo, to give a UNC vibe.

If you are planning on grabbing a pair of these, you will be able to do so as of Saturday, August 14th for a price of $190 USD. These are sure to be a great addition to any collection, especially if you’re a fan of the 13. Let us know what you think of these, in the comments section below.

Dess Dior Provides COVID Update: “I’m Not Dying”

Dess Dior has provided an update on how she’s feeling after testing positive for COVID-19, telling her fans that she has some of the most documented symptoms, including a loss of taste and pressure in her eyes. However, she wants people to know that she’s expecting to recover fully, issuing a promising statement this week.

Following her performance at Rolling Loud last weekend, Dess Dior revealed that she tested positive for COVID. She’s been recovering at her home and she expects to be better soon, telling fans, “I got pressure on my eyes a little bit, not as bad as it was. I’m not nauseous like I was. I couldn’t hold down anything. I’m starting to eat a little more. I did lose my taste. But it could be worse and the best part about it is, I’m not dying… I’m not on my deathbed so thank you guys for your prayers, thank you for the remedies, but I will be fine. I can’t wait until this is over, hopefully, it’s over soon.”

Hopefully, she’s right and it’s nothing serious. Dess hasn’t revealed whether she was vaccinated against COVID or not, but with this Delta variant, even some vaccinated folks are reporting that they’re catching COVID. Stay safe out there and if you went to Rolling Loud last weekend (or you’re going to Lollapalooza this weekend), make sure to get tested before and after. Don’t go anywhere if you’re feeling sick.

Twitter Reacts To Isaiah Rashad’s “The House Is Burning”

When an artist refrains from releasing new music for a few years, let alone five, it can sometimes be hard for them to live up to the unrealistic expectations that fans have for their new output. Bruno Mars Breaks Down Silk Sonic’s “Skate”

Today, supergroup Silk Sonic — consisting of Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars, kindred spirits when it comes to dulcet tones and multi-instrumentalism — have returned with their brand new single “Skate.” As expected, the tune is another surefire hit, destined for steady rotation for the duration of the summer and beyond.

Fueled by a masterclass in percussive chemistry from Paak and Mars, “Skate” further cements the possibility that we may as well be on the verge of a modern r&b classic. Shortly after the track’s release, Bruno Mars took a moment to hit up Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. During their brief conversation, Bruno shares a little bit of insight into the track’s creation, which appears to have stemmed from an overwhelming desire to play the congas.

“Me and the team was thinking about what if we were performing in the middle of a roller rink, what would that baseline be doing?” he muses. “What would the guitar be doing? What would the drums be talking about? And I wanted to play congas and that’s what you get. You get a song called “Skate”. Talking about I’m trying to float. I’m trying to glide.”

“I’m excited, “Skate” being our second single, because the sun is out and I’m hoping everybody’s outside, everybody’s at the pool, at the beach, barbecuing, listen to some Silk Sonic,” he continues. “The vibe’s always fun. Andy’s always cracking everybody up, playing the hell out of the drums. I got to play congas on this song and we were just going back and forth, trying to come up with the best melodies. We wanted everyone to feel like they were floating and gliding, slipping and sliding. And we’re very proud of this record. I hope you all enjoy it.”

Check out Silk Sonic’s “Slide” now, and keep your eyes peeled for what’s sure to be one of the year’s biggest albums — provided it actually drops before December.
