Rolling Loud Announces WWE Partnership For SmackDown

Rolling Loud is coming out of the pandemic even bigger than it was before COVID-19 hit. This year, they’re already plotting on bringing their festivals back in full in Los Angeles, New York, and of course, Miami. However, their festival in Florida will certainly be bigger than it’s ever been now that they’ve announced a partnership with the WWE.

Rolling Loud and the WWE have partnered for live matches with WWE Superstars as part of SmackDown. On July 23rd, FOX will be broadcasting several line-ups that will take place at Rolling Loud in between sets.

“What Matt Zingler, Tariq Cherif and the entire Rolling Loud team have built is spectacular,” Scott Zanghellini, WWE Senior Vice President, Revenue Strategy & Development, said. “We couldn’t think of a better partner to deliver such a unique WWE experience to fans during the July 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.”

For Rolling Loud co-CEO Tariq Cherif, it holds particular sentimental value to bring this partnership to life. “I grew up on Sweet Chin Music, mesmerized by the spectacle that Vince McMahon and co have built at WWE,” Cherif said. “The idea of weaving our two storylines into one world, one must see event, is electrifying.”

Rolling Loud Miami takes place from July 23rd to 25th with A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, and Post Malone serving as headliners.

Tyler, The Creator’s “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST” Gets The Chopstars Treatment

Coming off his second straight No.1 album, Tyler, the Creator’s well-received CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST has garnered yet another accolade: DJ Candlestick and the Chopstars giving it a signature ChopNotSlop remix.

This tape kicks off with “CALL ME IF YOU GET CHOPPED,” a face-melting intro, working the classic “Yonkers” instrumental into the fray as OG Ron C provides the standard voiceover.

The album’s genuine intro, “SIR BAUDELAIRE,” follows seamlessly and is one of the most fitting tracks to implement the syrupy sound, as with “CORSO.” On top of how fitting Tyler’s vocals fall in line with the remix, having DJ Drama’s voice slowed up throughout this entire project is broodingly reminiscent of listening to the Chopstars’ renditions of classic Wayne tapes.

On that note, “HOT WIND BLOWS” is as much a standout track here as it was on the standard album, with his voice swirling out of that lighthearted instrumental a lá “south muzik” off Dedication 2. The same goes for “WILSHIRE,” now roughly three minutes longer and even more tangible than it was on the actual record.

While there isn’t much to say about the album that we haven’t said since its release, all there is to know is that the project only got better today in thanks to the affirmation that accompanies getting the Houston-bred crew to do what they do best: chop it up.

Donald Trump Allegedly Told John Kelly That Hitler “Did A Lot Of Good Things”

Wall Street Journal reporter Mike Bender is now approximately one month away from the release of his highly anticipated book, Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost, and as its release date approaches, new insights from the book have started leaking out into the public.

According to The Hill, a copy of Bender’s forthcoming book has been attained by The Guardian, which has subsequently been reporting on some of the most sensational reveals from Frankly, We Did Win This Election. Apparently, one section of the book alleges that Donald Trump got into it with former chief of staff John Kelly during their 2018 trip to Europe in honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. In a conversation with Kelly, Trump reportedly said that Adolf Hitler “did a lot of good things.”

Demonstrators hold posters of Donald Trump as they make their way during the Women's March on January 21, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. The Women's March originated in Washington DC but soon spread to be a global march calling on all concerned citizens to stand up for equality, diversity and inclusion and for women's rights to be recognised around the world as human rights. Global marches are now being held, on the same day, across seven continents.

According to The Hill, Kelly vehemently opposed Trump on the matter, but the former president didn’t back down from the argument, citing Germany’s economic recovery under Hitler in the 1930s as a reason for his stance on Hitler. The book also alleges that Kelly warned Trump that under no circumstances could he “ever say anything supportive of Adolf Hitler.”

Representatives for Trump have already come forward to discredit Bender’s work in his upcoming book, saying that the book’s account of his conversation with Kelly, along with several other sections of the book, is purely “fake news” and “totally false.”

Michael Bender’s Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost is set to hit online and physical retailers later this summer on Tuesday, Aug 10, and for those interested in purchasing Bender’s forthcoming book, it is already available for pre-order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Lil Nas X’s BET Awards Kiss Barely Drew Any FCC Complaints

Last weekend, the 2021 BET Awards took place in person in Los Angeles following the virtual formatting of last year’s show due to COVID-19 restrictions. Big names in music like Tyler, the Creator, Migos–with a special guest and surprise reveal from Cardi B, H.E.R., and more all hit the stage to perform their latest material

One of the most memorable moments came from Lil Nas X’s performance of his hit single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” which drew criticism early on in its rollout days due to its LGBTQ+ friendly devil-filled visuals. For his BET Awards performance, he ended it by planting a kiss on one of his male backup dancers, sparking intense criticism on social media. Surprisingly, however, the criticism stayed online for the “Old Town Road” artist.

According to TMZ, it was crickets in terms of complaints to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about the performance. As the publication reports, the obtained complaints filed to the commission total just three. One viewer from the Bronx, NY penned around 1am to the commission, “I was very disturbed to see 2 men practically having sexual in the stage when the awards show is supposed to be a family show. It’s ridiculous and children and adults are being forced to endure this. Unacceptable and I will be unsubscribing from BET network. DISGUSTING AND DISTURBING!!!!!!!!”

A second angered viewer wrote, “During a performance 2 gay men kissed. Why are you showing this on tv. It is disgusting and wrong for kids to see because it’s unnatural.” The third complaint came from someone in Philly, who complained more about Satanism than the queer-friendly content of the performance.

In comparison, Cardi B and Megan thee Stallion’s Grammy performance of “WAP” and Shakira and J. Lo’s Super Bowl Halftime show each saw more than 1,000 FCC complaints. The relatively low number of FCC complaints juxtaposes the online backlash Lil Nas received following the performance.

Nonetheless, the hitmaker has taken it all in stride.

Japan Potentially Banning Spectators From Tokyo Olympics

A spike in COVID-19 cases has forced Japanese officials to consider a state of emergency through the duration of the Olympics. Having already been postponed in response to the pandemic last summer, the 2020 Olympics are set to begin on July 23.

Their potential response to this meteoric rise is to ban all forms of spectatorship from ensuing throughout the long-awaited event. According to ESPN, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga spoke with mutual officials to discuss the likelihood of “reinstating a state of emergency in the capital until August 22,” though the Olympics are scheduled to end on the 8th.

While there is yet to be any official word in regards to there being no fanfare whatsoever, the capacity for each sporting event has already been set at 50 percent. Although, this Wednesday, the city of Tokyo reported 920 new cases, the highest in the past two months, going to show the unlikelihood of there being anyone allowed in aside from an abundance of sponsors and live analysts.

In relation, another element banned from the Olympics are swimming caps created by Soul Cap, a brand that manufactures caps for natural hair, and this has also caused some uproar.

With this past year’s unorthodox postponement leading to an expectedly steep drop in income, the International Olympic Committee would lose about $3 to $4 billion had the games ultimately not gone into fruition.

With roughly less than 20 percent of Japanese citizens being vaccinated, these statistics wane in comparison to the States or U.K., showing all the more reason to be as precautious as possible leading into such a major event.

Cardi B Reveals How She Was Able To Expertly Hide Her Baby Bump For So Long

Cardi B announced she is pregnant with her second child in a big way. The rapper waited to share the news until her performance with Migos at the 2021 BET Awards last month. She walked on stage to deliver her “Type Sh*t” verse in a bedazzled jumpsuit that showed off her sizeable baby bump. Ever since making the announcement, Cardi has been no stranger to sharing pregnancy updates. But she also revealed a trick that allowed her to expertly hide her baby bump for months.

Cardi B recently took to social media to share her secret to slimming her waist, showing that it’s all about angles. In a TikTok overlaid with the “How would they know?” audio, Cardi flexes in a skin-tight jumpsuit. From head-on, Cardi’s baby bump is completely hidden. But once she turns to the side, it’s clear that the rapper is several months pregnant.

Now that Cardi has gone public with her baby bump, she’s able to share a handful of gorgeous pregnancy photos. The most recent set features a loving embrace by Offset and an adorable portrait with her daughter Kulture. “I just know these two will love each other soo much and argue soo much since they’re 3 years apart…just like me and Henny,” she said about her daughter’s relationship with her second child. “But one thing for sure is they’ll have each other’s back like no one else ever will.”

Isaiah Rashad Announces The Release Date For ‘The House Is Burning’

Isaiah Rashad has been teasing his upcoming album The House Is Burning for some time and today, he revealed just when the long-awaited comeback project will arrive. In a bit of good news for fans of the Top Dawg Entertainment-associated artist, the album will be dropping at the end of the month, on July 30. He also provided the cover art, which resembles a crayon drawing of a house that is quite literally on fire, even though the environment around it seems sunny and pleasant. I don’t know, seems mighty metaphorical to me.

In anticipation of the album’s release, Rashad has released a steady trickle of new videos illustrating the album’s direction and themes of depression, anxiety, self-destructive cycles, and occasional cathartic release. His first release of the cycle was the Duke Deuce-featuring “Lay Wit Ya,” which was followed by the Chattanooga rapper sharing a few songs that didn’t make the album, then by his ruminative “Headshots,” whose video drew from his real-life experience in rehab.

That rehab was one of the factors in the album’s delay, as Zay revealed his drinking problem got so bad he wrecked his boss Top Dawg’s car. He also had to recover from a bout of COVID-19, but thanks to his label’s unwavering support, he was able to get back on track and complete the album.

The House Is Burning is due 7/30 via TDE and Warner Records. Get it here.
