Ben Simmons Asking Price Receives Ridicule From NBA Twitter

Ben Simmons has consistently been one of the most slandered players in the entire NBA and it all has to do with the fact that he was a mess during the NBA playoffs. Simmons had problems scoring the basketball and his shooting was sub-par, which is a generous assessment if we’re being honest. Following this performance, it has become crystal clear that the 76ers want to get rid of Simmons, and now, numerous trade rumors have been circulating online and throughout the Twitter-sphere.

As it stands, there are two teams who have been offered Simmons directly. These teams are the Toronto Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs. Both franchises could use a guy like Simmons, especially after missing the playoffs. However, it appears as though the 76ers asking price is simply astronomical.

According to reports from around the NBA, the Sixers wanted Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, and the fourth overall pick in exchange for Simmons. Meanwhile, they wanted the Spurs to surrender four first-round picks, three pick swaps, and a young star. Needless to say, the Raptors and the Spurs hung up the phone pretty quickly on those trade packages.

Simmons’ recent performances have brought his value down quite a bit, although the Sixers haven’t exactly recognized this. As fans noted on social media, Simmons simply isn’t worth this much and if the Sixers keep playing hard ball, they are going to be stuck with him this upcoming season.

Reports now suggest that Simmons could be traded by tonight, so keep it locked to HNHH as we bring you all of the latest updates surrounding Simmons and the Sixers.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Kicked Murderous Melodies On “Wasteland Warriors”

Everybody loves to hate on the double album, but in reality, hip-hop has given us plenty of great ones over the years. That includes the incredible Art Of War from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, which officially celebrates twenty-four years of existence today.

Boasting no shortage of material from the Cleveland crew, it’s hard to single out a specific highlight to showcase. Being that we’ve already celebrated the 2Pac-assisted “Thug Luv” and the tone-setting “Handle The Vibe,” it’s time to shine a light on the west-coast influenced banger that is “Wasteland Warriors.” Over a hard-hitting g-funk banger from DJ U-Neek, Krayzie, Bizzy, Layzie, and special guest Souljah Boy (the first rapper to be named Souljah Boy, as it were), proceed to put in work like only they can.

While some newer fans might be wary of revisiting a project that’s turning twenty-four, hip-hop heads can rest assured that Bone Thugs’ third studio album is aging like a fine wine. Check out “Wasteland Warriors” now, and sound off with your thoughts on The Art Of War and the influence it has had on the greater hip-hop landscape.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

What if we slowed it down?
Then n***a, you would hear me
I know n**as would fuck around
And say we tried to steal your style
Come on to funky town, that’s where we get the rawest
Thuggish-ruggish Bone, so sho’ nuff that’s what they call us

Summer Walker Shows Off Her Guns In New Photos

Summer Walker has two sides to her personality: she’s got a soft side and a hard side. She found the perfect way to show off her chaotic energy with a new picture, posing with her favorite stuffies, and her guns.

“The guns is fake if my pro O ask,” shared Summer, alerting the feds to not worry about her because they’re simply props. In the first photo dump, she bent over and showed off her behind before giving a front view, clutching two semi-automatic guns on her sides. In one of the final pictures, she points the weapons at the camera.

She proceeded to upload a second photo dump with more gun-clutching shots, but this time she was cuddled up with some teddy bears. “Both my personalities,” said the fire sign as she pointed her firearm to the sky.

Last week, Summer made headlines after sharing a preview of her new music, prompting her fans to get her trending and discuss the need for a new album from the R&B superstar. She’s also been teasing collaborations with Lil Durk and others, promising to shade her baby daddy London On Da Track on her upcoming body of work.

Check out Summer’s two personalities below.

Bob Odenkirk’s Condition Stable Following “Heart-Related Incident”

Bob Odenkirk, 58, was recently hospitalized after collapsing on the New Mexico set of Better Call Saul, as he was filming the final season of the acclaimed series. It was later reported that he had suffered a “heart-related incident,” and his representatives have since confirmed his condition to be stable.

“We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident,” reads an official statement. “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

His oldest son Nate Odenkirk also shared a brief update on Twitter, reassuring the many concerned fans that “He’s going to be OK.” In the wake of his hospitalization, AMC (the network behind Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad), issued a statement in support of the Emmy-nominated actor.  “Bob is someone we have known and been lucky enough to work with for a long time,” AMC writes. “The immediate outpouring of affection and concern from fans around the world is a clear reflection of his immense talents and ability to both move and entertain people. Like everyone else, we are so grateful to know he is in stable condition and receiving excellent care. We are holding him close in our thoughts and wishing for a fast and full recovery.”

Be sure to show some love to the actor in the comments section below; though many likely know him for his incredible turn as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman, he recently switched things up with his first action role in Nobody. We at HNHH would like to wish Bob Odenkirk a healthy recovery.

A Fan Thought Yung Baby Tate Was Yung Miami “In A Different Colored Wig”

After experiencing viral success on TikTok with her Flo Milli-assisted track “I Am” earlier this year, Yung Baby Tate has been capitalizing on her moment and working to expand her reach. In March, the Atlanta rapper spoke with HNHH about working with Issa Rae and YouTube’s Black Voices program, and soon after, she treated her fans to the deluxe version of her 2020 EP After The Rain

The GIRLS artist, who made a prominent appearance on Dreamville’s 2019 compilation album Revenge Of The Dreamers III, has also recently joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, so needless to say, countless fans are finally getting acquainted with Yung Baby Tate.

One fan even recently joked about Yung Baby Tate’s surging popularity by saying that at first, she mistook the Atlanta rapper for City Girls’ Yung Miami. “So Yung Baby Tate isn’t just Caresha in a different colored wig??” the fan wrote. Yung Baby Tate responded to the tweet with a surprising anecdote about her mom echoing a similar sentiment.

“My mom saw this one picture of Yung Miami & thought it was me,” the Atlanta artists revealed. “We do be looking alike sometimes.”

Check out the side-by-side comparison below. What do you think? Is Yung Baby Tate onto something or do she and Yung Miami not look anything alike?

DaBaby Is Still Trying To Defend Himself From Accusations Of Homophobia While Missing The Point Entirely

DaBaby continues to miss the point of the backlash against his Rolling Loud comments, issuing another statement on Instagram trying to defend himself from accusations of homophobia. Posting a snippet of his new video, “Giving What It’s Supposed To Give” (an example of appropriated LGBTQ slang), he noted the hard work that he put into the video, insisted that he already apologized (he didn’t), and boasted that he would overcome, all while bemoaning the fact that he has had to face consequences for his insensitive remarks such as losing his Boohooman deal. Read it below.

You ever wrote a video, you and 3 others produce it, you direct it while starring AND rapping in it, film the video for 16 HOURS straight wrap up at 4am, take a shower & jump on a jet to @rollingloud and with only 2 hours of rest give one of the BEST performances of the entire festival yet the most controversial and emotion provoking performance as well; due to things deemed “insensitive” said during your performance even though you’re an ENTERTAINER, try to apologize and explain that you meant no harm & that you were only entertaining as you are paid to do, & have no problem with anyone’s sexual preference that is outside of yours, only to have a substantial amount of people refuse to understand your logic, tag along with a trending topic & play with your character and do everything they can to take money out of your pockets and food out your kids mouth, and have everybody around you panicking only for you to apologize anyway stand on the fact that you were entertaining and truly didn’t mean to offend anybody or start no commotion, although they’re currently offending you, & COINCIDENTALLY the video you were shooting till 4am the DAY OF @rollingloud touches on EVERY controversial topic trending in the headlines, so you then go against the grain in the opposite direction of every scared person around you & stay true to yourself & DROP DAT BITCH in the height of the commotion & show the world once again that you CANT BE F*CKED WIT?
I have. I just did. God’s Work.

Okay. So. Let’s address this. There’s a reason that people are still mad and it isn’t because it’s a “trending topic.” Regardless of his intent, the impact of his words is very real. Right now, there are queer people facing levels of violence and persecution that literally put their lives in danger, and cracks like “if you ain’t suck a n**** dick in the parking lot…” only serve to reinforce the way of thinking that justifies it in the minds of bigots. Secondly, DaBaby didn’t really apologize. “I’m sorry you feel that way” isn’t an apology because it isn’t acknowledging the harm — intentional or not — and resolving to do better.

Doubling down by releasing this video only serves to mock the people who want to see him take responsibility and downplay how egregious his words were. When Elton John tweets you to tell you how your comments cause real-world harm and you still laugh it off, you’re not being an entertainer, you’re acting like an asshole. Admitting you were wrong doesn’t mean you’re admitting you are a bad person. But you still have to admit when you mess up and try not to do it again.

Finally, trying to draw attention to the other controversy within the set is probably not the move here. Because, again, that was an asshole move. Get your money or whatever, but if you have to step on people’s toes to do so, maybe that check isn’t worth it.

Anyway, here’s hoping that someone close to DaBaby can explain these things to him and that they’ll catch him at a time when he’s feeling more receptive, less combative, and ready to grow up instead of living down to his name.

CHLOTHEGOD Speaks On Her Breakout Song, Dream Collaborations, And More

HNHH recently connected with Sprite for the ongoing Live From The Label series, which aims to highlight emerging talent through a series of live stream concerts. Centered around three headlining shows from Saweetie, Latto, and Jack Harlow, each performance will feature an up-and-coming opening act, with the aim of catapulting their careers up another rung in the ladder.

With Live From The Label set to kick off Thursday, July 29th with Latto’s performance, her opening act will be CHLOTHEGOD, a talented singer-songwriter who has steadily built up a loyal following. We had the chance to catch up with her ahead of the big performance for a special Sprite edition of On The Come-Up.

Hailing from Fayetteville, North Carolina, CHLOTHEGOD describes her stomping grounds as a military town. “My dad was in the military for a while,” she explains. “I got the best of both worlds — the army brat life and the civilian life. I was born there and moved around a little bit.” She notes that she actually graduated from the same high school as J. Cole. “There’s a lot of hometown hero energy,” she smiles. “A lot of love for the Ville.”

CHLO also opens up some of the defining moments in her music career so far, singling out a few as being major catalysts for success. “I was in college, trying to decide what I wanted to do,” she explains. “I dropped a project, my very first project, The Story Behind, and it was received really well. I remember gaining ten thousand followers, and people being like where are you going to be at, we’ll come and see you. Me and my best friend packed ourselves in my Jetta and took ourselves on a ten-city tour. We did Air B&B house shows, and people came.”

As for dream collaborations, CHLO’s first pick is likely shared by many young artists. “I would love to collaborate with Andre 3000,” she says. “I think eccentrically and lyrically, he’s just cool. Legendary and influential to the culture. Pharrell in production is a dream. Erykah Badu is one of my biggest idols, Jill Scott is one of my biggest idols. The people I look up to in music feel like home to me. They’re people I either grew up listening to, people that have lasted a really long time. I’m really interested in learning. I want to be an impactful artist and last long, as they have.”

For those looking for an introduction to CHLO she muses that “See Me” has probably been her most impactful song. “I’ve watched interviews where artists will say their most popular song will get on your nerves,” she says. “I’m really grateful because I love ‘See Me’ to this day, and it’s been five years. I hope I can make music that can last forever.”

“The process for ‘See Me’ was a very honest one. It’s just corny immature tales — I was out and linking up with this guy, and I was waiting at the place we were going to meet and another girl walked in and said she was waiting for the same guy. I just remember being really crushed, and really hurt. I felt really small.” Though the guy attempted to turn the table on her, she ultimately found solace in the studio that same night. “I left from what was supposed to be our date, straight to the studio — and I wrote ‘See Me.'”

For more from CHLO, be sure to catch the entire video up above, and let us know if you’ll be putting her on your radar moving forward.

Chris Brown Seemingly Reacts To DaBaby Controversy

This weekend, DaBaby set off his latest controversy by spewing homophobic hate at the Rolling Loud festival, shaming his gay fans, and spreading harmful misinformation about AIDS and HIV. His comments have sparked rebuttals from Dua Lipa, Elton John, Amber Rose, Ts Madison, and plenty of others who were offended by his words. DaBaby keeps digging a deeper hole for himself to crawl out of though, “apologizing” and only making things worse by insinuating that his gay fans aren’t the “nasty” ones with STDs.

Rappers including T.I., Tory Lanez, Boosie Badazz, and more have gotten involved, sharing their own takes on DaBaby’s controversy. It looks like Chris Brown is also responding to the conversation, offering his view on how entertainers should act on stage.

“Shut the fuck up. Do yo shows, thank everybody, then get the fuck off stage!!!!!!!!!!!” he wrote on Instagram Stories.

Surprisingly, people are agreeing with CB’s take on the matter, for once. As the statement has been getting picked up by different hip-hop blogs on social media, commenters are co-signing his general sentiment and saying that he’s right in this instance. As Elton John said, there is absolutely no place for homophobia and misinformation about AIDS in music — nobody is paying for tickets to a concert to hear DaBaby spew homophobic rhetoric. They’re paying to hear his music. Chris Brown seemingly agrees that there is no place for that in entertainment.

Nas Announces “King’s Disease II,” Dropping Next Friday

Nas is no stranger to the sequel, having previously delivered both Stillmatic and The Lost Tapes 2 in 2001 and 2019 respectively. Now, he’s officially lining up another one, announcing the imminent release of King’s Disease 2.

According to a report from NME, Nas will be releasing his brand new album on Friday, August 6th. Though little detail has been shared about the forthcoming project, NME did share the regal artwork, which is much more minimalistic than its predecessor. It’s unclear as to whether or not Nas will be reuniting with Hit-Boy, who produced the entirety of the Grammy-Winning King’s Disease.

At this stage, all we can really do is speculate on where the legendary lyricist will go from here. King’s Disease was widely regarded as one of his best albums in a minute, and for all intents and purposes, Nas has been on one hell of a run. It will certainly be interesting to see how he approaches this sequel, given that the first installment has already garnered quite an impeccable reputation. Perhaps we’ll see him reuniting with a few old friends — maybe we’ll even see a JAY-Z collaboration, as the pair recently connected on DJ Khaled’s “Sorry Not Sorry.”

One thing is certain — a new Nas album will always be welcome, especially given how solid he’s been lately. Check out the majestic cover artwork for King’s Disease 2, and look for the full project to arrive on August 6th. Are you excited for another album from Escobar?
