YBN Nahmir Reaches Out To YBN Almighty Jay: “I Miss Rapping Wit You”

YBN Nahmir hasn’t had it easy since dropping his debut album VISIONLAND. In addition to being ripped apart by fans for reportedly selling just 4,000 copies in the first week since VISIONLAND‘s release, YBN Nahmir was also recently the butt of Lil Yachty’s April Fool’s joke, in which he claimed to like Nahmir’s heavily criticized and experimental album cut “Soul Train.” Still, the “Opp Stoppa” remains positive about his career’s trajectory, despite his past plans on retiring.

In a surprisingly humble series of Instagram story posts, YBN Nahmir recently claimed that he’s focused on getting “back onnat old YBN sh*t.” Now, it appears that the Birmingham, Alabama-born rapper was serious about rechanneling the early YBN days because he has reached out to his once close collaborator YBN Almighty Jay over social media. In a sentimental Instagram post, YBN Nahmir writes, “We was turnt everyday kid. i miss rapping wit you. can we drop some shit? @ybnalmightyjay”

YBN Almighty Jay recently dropped a debut project of his own on Atlantic, titled Battling My Spirit. Similar to the tepid reception that YBN Nahmir has been getting for VISIONLAND, YBN Almighty Jay’s project failed to chart on the Billboard 200 following its release at the beginning of February, so perhaps he’ll accept Nahmir’s offer and return to YBN’s roots.

Are you excited for a potential reunion featuring two of the three original members of YBN?

Saweetie Speaks Out Following The Viral Video Of Her Elevator Fight With Quavo

Last week, fans were shocked to hear that the music industry’s favorite couple, Saweetie and Quavo, had split. But in the following days, it was made clear that the couple’s relationship wasn’t as happy as they made it seem. After Saweetie publicly called out Quavo for cheating on her, a video surfaced of the two getting into an altercation in an elevator. The video has now gone viral, and Saweetie has finally issued a response.

In a statement given to TMZ, Saweetie notes that the incident had taken place over a year ago, well into their relationship:

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.”

The original video was security footage from an apartment complex’s elevator. It showed Saweetie taking a swing at Quavo in order to try to get an orange suitcase out of his hands, which TMZ reports contained a gaming console. Quavo ultimately grabbed Saweetie and flung her to the ground before closing the elevator’s doors.

After the video circled the internet, LAPD reportedly opened an investigation. Law enforcement apparently wants to question both of the rappers separately to find out what caused the altercation in the first place. If police find any grounds for criminal charges, they plan to turn the case over to City Attorney, who would determine any charges.

21 Savage Secures A Batch Of Gold & Platinum Plaques

21 Savage is easily one of the new generation’s most acclaimed rappers, having built a considerable fanbase since he first arrived onto the scene with the Metro Boomin-produced Savage Mode. Of course, his artistry has evolved since that fateful first release, having delivered several additional projects in Issa Album, the Offset-assisted Without Warning, I Am > I Was, and most recently Savage Mode 2And with a sizable role on the upcoming Spiral soundtrack, 21 Savage’s catalog is already looking to grow.

Today, 21’s enduring catalog has paid off, with the rapper officially expanding his collection of gold and platinum plaques. A quick gander at the RIAA website indicates that Savage has secured eight new certifications, with five of which being of the platinum variety. For the most part, the songs in question stem from a wide number of his albums. “Bank Account” (6x platinum) is from Issa. “A Lot” (5x platinum) and “Out For The Night” (gold) are from I Am > I Was. “Runnin” (platinum), “Rich N***a Shit (gold), “Glock In My Lap” (gold), “Mr. Right Now” (platinum) are from Savage Mode 2, produced by Metro Boomin. Lastly, “Rap Saved Me” (platinum) is from Without Warning.

In total, 21 is now boasting a sizable tally of forty-one plaques, making him one of hip-hop’s most commercially viable artists by a decent margin. Not too shabby for a rapper who first emerged onto the scene with a hazy, vaguely horror-inspired project — and look at him now. Congratulations to 21 Savage for this latest haul, and may there be many more to come.

Saweetie Sheds Some Light On Her Elevator Fight With Quavo

Since the news broke that Saweetie and Quavo had unfollowed each other on Instagram, the two superstar rappers have experienced a pretty ugly and public breakup. The “Tap In” rapper accused her ex-boyfriend of cheating on her, and Quavo expressed his disappointment in her by clapping back with the vague response, “You are not the woman that I thought you were.” From there on out, things have only gotten uglier, as footage leaked earlier this week that revealed an elevator altercation between Saweetie and Quavo that resulted in punches being thrown and the “My Type” rapper being slammed to the floor. Everyone, from Boosie Badazz to the LAPD, has had something to say about it, but now Saweetie has come forward to shed a bit of light on the situation.

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on,” Saweetie said in an exclusive statement to TMZ.

Saweetie’s statement to TMZ doesn’t reveal much detail about the nature of her and Quavo’s “unfortunate incident,” so the debate as to whether or not Hip-Hop fans should consider it abuse or a harmless fight will likely continue. However, the Icy Girl’s comment does add some much-desired context to the disturbing video. According to Saweetie, it happened about a year ago, meaning that it wasn’t the final straw in her and Quavo’s relationship.

However, her comment about there being “too many hurdles” between her and the Migos rapper reaffirms that there were several issues in their relationship, with cheating already being revealed as one of them.

Quavo has yet to comment on the infamous elevator video, but fans are desperately waiting for the Quavo Huncho artist to defend himself publicly. Stay tuned for more updates.

Joining judges Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend, and Blake Shelton, Snoop’s position as Mega Mentor will find him advising contestants in the Knockout rounds, which begin on April 19th. For those who don’t know, the Knockout rounds pit one contestant against one of their teammates for a solo performance. For this twentieth season, however, they’ll have the benefit of Snoop Dogg’s tutelage, gleaned from nearly thirty years as a superstar in the music business.

Following the Knockout round, those eliminated will have a chance to be “saved,” with each of the four coaches possessing a single vote. Erica Banks Brings Her Viral Hit ‘Buss It’ To A Buoyant ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance

When it came to what song to perform for her UPROXX Sessions debut, Erica Banks’s choice was a no-brainer. Her biggest hit to date — and the song that introduced her to the world via a fan-approved TikTok challenge — remains “Buss It,” the Nelly-sampling, bass-heavy, twerk-ready anthem that had fans dropping it low at the Dallas native’s behest. Stopping by Uproxx Studios, Banks brought her signature bold energy to a buoyant performance that proves her personality comes through live even better than it does on the record.

Being signed to 1501 Certified Entertainment — the same label that helped introduce the world to Megan Thee Stallion — brings a fair share of expectations for Banks. As a fellow Texan, her accent, flow, and taste in production have all been compared to the Grammys’ 2021 Best New Artist winner, yet Banks also has to stand out and prove that she’s a completely different artist.

Fortunately, the success of “Buss It” has given her a running start at reaching that goal, while its remix with Travis Scott and her subsequent guest appearance on Yella Beezy’s “Star” took massive strides toward becoming a breakout artist in her own right. With her UPROXX Sessions performance, she takes another step on that journey, strutting with her head held high and showing she’s got the tools to carve out her own lane.

Watch Erica Banks’ buoyant “Buss It” performance above.

UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on. Featuring creative direction from LA promotion collective, Ham On Everything, and taking place on our “bathroom” set designed and painted by Julian Gross, UPROXX Sessions is a showcase of some of our favorite performers, who just might soon be yours, too.
