Amanda Bynes has chosen to remain hospitalized in a psychiatric facility. The troubled former Nickelodeon star was placed on a psychiatric hold three weeks ago. It was last month that authorities found Bynes wandering naked and alone around downtown Los Angeles. Furthermore, police were able to determine that Bynes had been living on the street for some time. Bynes was initially placed on a 72-hour hold. However, the hold was later extended to further evaluate Bynes’ needs. There is currently no word on when Bynes will be discharged from the hospital.
TMZ reports that medical staff is taking Bynes’ stay on a week-by-week basis. Sources close to Bynes told the outlet that she is free to leave. However, the “What a Girl Wants” star has decided she isn’t ready yet. Additionally, Bynes will attend outpatient therapy when she does decide to leave. The incident in Los Angeles is just the latest chapter in more than a decade of struggles for the 37-year-old. Bynes’ legal woes began in 2012. During that year, she was hit with two separate charges of driving under the influence. Additionally, she was also with two hit-and-run charges that same year.
Bynes Has Faced Previous Struggles
Furthermore, Bynes began concerning fans with her public behavior. In 2013, she began posting bizarre rants on social media. It was later that year that Bynes was first placed on a psychiatric hold. Additionally, she would again be hospitalized the following year. Bynes would go on to announce on Twitter that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Moreover, those close to Bynes believe she was manic when she was discovered by police last month. Additionally, Bynes was previously under the conservatorship of her mother for nine years. The conservatorship went into effect following her early troubles in 2013.
However, Bynes is not alone. An outpouring of support has come from fans and stars across the entertainment world. Moreover, two of the stars to publicly show support to Bynes are fellow “All That” alums Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson. Bynes was a mainstay for kids who grew up during the 90s. Her runs on “All That” and “The Amanda Show” won her fans all around the world. It is heartening to hear that Bynes has chosen to prioritize her mental health. Many fans will be rooting for her when she does leave the hospital.
