Eve Reveals How Nicki Minaj Earned Her “Respect” By Starring In “Barbershop”

Eve says that she expected to resent Nicki Minaj after she was cast alongside her in the film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, in 2016. Reflecting on the experience in her new memoir, Who’s That Girl, Eve explained that she ended up gaining “respect” for the Pink Friday 2 rapper.

“I’ve lived through what happens when women project their own insecurities onto other women,” Eve said, as caught by The Neighborhood Talk. “It happened at the start of my career and continued in waves as my fame grew. I wasn’t going to be that woman to someone else, but in order to do that, I had to physically and mentally prepare myself … Nicki and I were actually fine on set. We got along well and shot our 1scenes together with no problems. It was nothing like what I had expected, but again, I am thankful that I prepared myself for it.”

Eve Attends “Barbershop: The Next Cut” Screening

She continued: “I’d see her writing songs on her bus in between takes, hurrying off set to go hit some show dates over the weekend and then come right back on set for these twelve-to-sixteen-hour shoots, all while trying to hold together her personal life and her relationship. It was at that moment that I didn’t envy her, and I kind of wanted to give her a hug. I thought I was going to resent her, and really all I felt was compassion. I remembered being that person, the girl who felt like she had to do it all. The girl who was pressured to do it all, because it was all eyes on her. Instead of feeling insecure around Nicki, I started to sympathize with her”

Eve & Nicki Minaj Star In “Barbershop: The Next Cut”

It’s not the first time Eve has made headlines for her memoir. She also caused controversy for JAY-Z after recalling him warning her about the difficulty of selling albums as a female rapper. Eve later clarified that her story was being misconstrued and didn’t have an issue with what JAY said. Be on the lookout for further updates on Eve and Nicki Minaj on HotNewHipHop.

Method Man Sounds Off on Diddy Declaring Mogul’s Legal Problems Don’t “have anything to do with Hip-Hop”

IMG 8880

Method Man has entered the chat with the Diddy mess. The Wu-Tang Clan icon turned actor has utterly dismissed the idea that Diddy’s serious legal problems signify some sort of decline of hip-hop.

The hot take went down during an encounter with our friends at TMZ outside ABC Studios in New York City.

“I don’t think that it has anything to do with hip-hop,” Method Man said in response to the suggestion. “What are we talking about really?”

The Power actor went on to explain that there is no connection between Diddy’s legal issues and the genre itself, drawing a comparison to how people have continued to separate the artist from the person, referencing R. Kelly.

“It has nothing to do with hip-hop…at all,” he reiterated. “So, I don’t see the correlation whatsoever. If we’re talking about creative and music and stuff like that, there’s still people listening to R. Kelly shit.”

ICYMI, Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was arrested on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering earlier this week. If convicted, the 54-year-old faces a minimum of 25 years in prison. Diddy attempted to secure his release with a $50 million bail package, offering his $48 million Star Island mansion and his mother’s $2 million Miami home as collateral. However, the request was denied.

SOCIALizing: Watch Lil Pump Get Choked Out By MMA Star in Stunt Gone Awry

IMG 8879

Anything for likes? Anything for clout? We’re not too sure with this one. Looks like Lil Pump had a bit of a breathing issue after MMA star Colby Covington put him in a nasty chokehold that led the rapper to pass out and it all went down on livestream, of course.

Make no mistake, do not try this at home under any circumstances. We’re serious.

The stunt or whatever happened via Kick stream shared by the rapper, where Covington, 36, was seen wrestling with the 24-year-old musician. Covington has not competed in the UFC since his loss to Leon Edwards in December last year.

The clip went viral. It has garnered over 20.9 million views, Covington wrapped his arm around Lil Pump’s neck as they wrestled on the floor. The rapper, best known for his SoundCloud hits, visibly struggled, tapping the mat in an attempt to signal for Covington to stop.

As Covington tightened his grip and wrapped his leg around Pump’s hip, the rapper’s eyes rolled back, and his body went limp. A man nearby was heard saying, “He’s out, he’s out,” prompting Covington to release his hold and jump to his feet, pointing at Pump. “He’s out, look at his eyes, holy,” said another onlooker, while an aide rushed to help Lil Pump regain consciousness, lifting his legs and encouraging him to breathe.

Many fans were not amused. The disturbing footage has sparked outrage among fans, many of whom expressed their concern and anger on social media. One fan took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “This is absolute loser behavior from Colby.” Another commented, “He tapped multiple times. Colby should be demoted on his jiu-jitsu belt and should never be allowed to fight again.” A third sarcastically remarked, “Loved seeing Colby respect the tap. That was cool.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one stating, “He tapped out like seven times, even looked at the people around for help.” Another fan bluntly criticized the situation, writing, “Unless he asked to be out, that was pretty f*g stupid tbh.” A particularly harsh comment read, “Colby Covington has—once again—shown himself to be a complete scumbag. Lil Pump (who doesn’t train) tapped multiple times—he is merely looking to create content with Colby and is presumably a guest at his gym. Colby responds by ignoring the tap and risking injury.”

While it remains unclear whether Lil Pump had requested Covington to continue despite the taps, the video began with both already on the mat. Covington, known for his controversial persona and support for former President Donald Trump, holds a 17-4 MMA record and is currently ranked fifth in the UFC’s 170lb division.

Outside the Octagon, Pump has used his social media platforms to endorse Trump’s campaign ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential election, where Trump faces current Vice President Kamala Harris. And make no mistake, his comments about VP Harris have been absolutely abysmal. And we’re not holding our breath on a change of tune, pun intended.

Quavo is flying high following the release of his latest single, which features a Lenny Kravitz sample. However, a new lawsuit has reportedly crashed landed on the “Himothy” rapper’s celebration parade.

According to TMZ, Quavo is being sued for copyright infringement over his 2018 song, “Bubble Gum.” In court documents obtained by the outlet, underground rapper L.Mont (real name Lamount London) accused Quavo of stealing his track by the same name.

L.Mont claimed that after he served as an official opener for a Migos (Quavo’s former group) and 2 Chainz concert on February 6, 2016, he passed off a CD of the song in question. He then said he was shocked to hear Quavo’s version, which he believes contains elements of his record’s lyrics, arrangement, and melody.

Although the song was released two years following their alleged encounter at New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre, L.Mont argued that the similarities are undeniable. After years of watching the track gain popularity, L.Mont is taking action to be paid for his supposed creative influence. L.Mont is seeking financial damages for an undisclosed amount.

On the other hand, users online have begun to slam L.Mont’s case as opportunistic stating it doesn’t slightly mirror Quavo’s record. Listen to both songs below. Quavo has not yet issued a public response to the filing.

Cassie Collaborator Tiffany Red Accuses Diddy Of Drugging Her

Songwriter Tiffany Red, who has apparently collaborated with Cassie over the years, had accused Diddy of allegedly drugging her at his studio in Los Angeles. Taking to Instagram, earlier this week, Red claimed that the Bad Boy mogul laced a joint they smoked and she immediately knew something was wrong.

“Today, I feel a little safer knowing Sean Combs is behind bars,” Red wrote. “I’m grateful to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and Homeland Security for stepping in and showing Mr. Combs and the music industry, which enabled him that they’re not above the law. This past year has been incredibly stressful and terrifying at times, but I am grateful for the opportunity to free myself from all these dark experiences.”

Diddy & Cassie During GQ’s “Men Of The Year” Party

She continued: “While co-creating Cassie’s sophomore album, I was degraded by Sean Combs, deceived by him, his team, and the record labels about the music being released, I was exposed to Diddy’s abuse of Cassie and others in her circle, and I unknowingly consumed something laced without my consent at his Hombly Hills home studio while writing for Cassie back in 2017. I’ll never forget screaming, ‘What’s in this?!’ I knew instantly after smoking the joint that something was wrong. I got away that night by the grace of GOD, but I am haunted by the things I can’t remember about that evening. No one should have to endure this kind of trauma to pursue success in the music industry. We all deserve better.”

Tiffany Red Shares New Allegations About Diddy

Red’s bombshell claims comes after authorities arrested Diddy in New York City, last week. He’s already pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering charges. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, unsuccessfully attempted to get him out on bail. He now resides at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He’s continued to maintain his innocence regarding the various allegations he’s faced over the last year. Be on the lookout for further updates on Diddy as well as Tiffany Red on HotNewHipHop.

Janet Jackson Apologizes For Weird Statements on VP Kamala Harris Ethnicity

IMG 8877

Whelp that was quick. Icon Janet Jackson issued an apology through her representative after making inaccurate statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity, claiming Harris “is not Black.”

Oh … Through her rep, huh? Got it.

ICYKI, in an interview with The Guardian published on Saturday, Jackson remarked, “She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”

Can’t make this stuff up.

However, Kamala Harris is indeed Black. Like, her father, Donald Harris, is a Jamaican-American economist who made history as the first Black scholar to secure a tenured position in Stanford’s economics department.

Harris has consistently spoken about her Black identity throughout her political career. For example, when asked in a previous interview if she had ever smoked marijuana, Harris humorously replied, “Half my family’s from Jamaica, are you kidding me?”

In addition to her Black heritage, Harris is also of Indian descent. Her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a prominent medical scientist originally from Chennai, India, and worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

When it comes to the heart of this nonsensical talking point, while speaking at the National Association of Black Journalists’ annual convention in Chicago last month, Trump stated, “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black. I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”

With this clarification, Janet Jackson is now aware that Kamala Harris is proudly both.

Well, glad that’s all cleared up. Insert eye roll emoji.
