Joe Budden Believes Drill Will Only Be Around For Another 5 Or 6 Years

It is currently one of the most popular subgenres of Rap culture right now, but there have been several people who have questioned the longevity of Drill music. There are some who just simply aren’t fans, but others are concerned with the authorities as they crack down on Drill artists by the masses, especially considering the ongoing news about artists being named in RICO cases as well as arrested for other alleged crimes.

Joe Budden touched on the plight of Drill music during his podcast and said that he believes the wave will have a short shelf life.

“You Drill n*ggas got the shortest of windows. That sh*t ’bout over,” Budden said on episode 544 of his podcast. He then referenced New York City’s mayor recently caught dancing with French Montana. “Y’all can go keep dancing with Eric Adams if you want. It’s over, buddy. In the next five, six years…” One of his co-hosts interjected to add that it “might not be that long.”

Budden replied, “I know, but the writing is on the wall.” He added, “That’s government-issued writing. That’s not Joe… Don’t start hittin’ me, mad at me. I’m just telling you what I’m looking at.”

We will all have to wait and see if Budden’s predictions are accurate, but let us know if you think that Drill will be out of the game in just a few years.

D.L. Hughley Dodges Questions About Mo’Nique: “I Don’t Even Know Who That Is”

The vicious back and forth between D.L. Hughley and Mo’Nique has subsided in recent days, but for a minute there, things got out of control. What seemed to have been an argument launched by the actress after she wasn’t added as a headliner for a comedy show unfolded into Mo’Nique targeting not only Hughley but his family. She spoke about his daughter being sexually assaulted and disparaged his marriage, causing the Oscar-winning actress to become a pariah in the press.

Hughley and his family took to social media to respond, but these days, the comedy legend has opted to focus on the positives in his life and act as if Mo’Nique doesn’t even exist.

Hughley is operating with an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality.

“I don’t even know who you’re talking about,” said the comedian when a TMZ cameraperson attempted to rehash Mo’Nique’s apology. “Listen, I don’t even know who you’re talking about. That—you only get so many breaths in your life and I refuse to use one more on somebody like that.”

When the paparazzo was just about to follow up with another question, Hughley added, “I haven’t heard anything. I don’t listen to that.”

“I work, my family’s intact, I just came from doing—we just came from doing a benefit for the people that were affected by the tragedy in Buffalo,” said Hughley. “I get to go home and see my granddaughter. I have no words or breath left for somebody like that.” The cameraperson slid in another question and said, “Never work with her again?”

Hughley answered, “I don’t even know who it is.” Watch his interaction with TMZ below.

Giveon Once Sang For SZA When He Worked At A Restaurant

Those “before they were famous” stories always entertain fans, so when Giveon visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he couldn’t help but share a memory. He may be a chart-topping, award-winning crooner now, but before he hit it big in music, Giveon was an aspiring singer who worked at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. During his conversation with Fallon, he even admitted that at times, he was required to wear the shrimp suit to entertain the restaurant’s guests.

“So, my third interview for the restaurant—yes, third. I don’t know why Bubba Gump requires three interviews for some reason,” the singer joked. “I’m walking into the third interview and I just see SZA walking and I ambush her like, ‘Hi.’ Just was rambling out the words. I don’t even remember everything I said.”

As embarrassed as he may have been, Giveon added that the Top Dawg Entertainment songbird was extremely gracious. Just when Giveon thought he was finished telling his story, Fallon reminded him that he sang for SZA, as well.

“Yes, I sang for her, okay! I was gon’ leave that part out,” Giveon said as the audience laughed. “I was a very big fan. Still am. I was singing for her and she was just like, ‘Who is this guy singing?!'” Years later, SZA attended one of Giveon’s shows and he reminded her of their previous interaction, but she claimed she didn’t remember.

“So, I went on Instagram and unsent the DMs that I sent her.” Giveon was unashamed when he admitted that after belting out the song all those years prior, he immediately messaged the singer. It went something like, “This is me, remember?…. Please remember!” It all worked out for the best.

Watch Giveon hilariously revisit his time at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and share other tales below.

Tayla Parx Demands Her ‘Flowers’ On Her Latest Single

Having penned several hits for the likes of Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, Mariah Carey, and John Legend, singer/songwriter Tayla Parx surely deserves her flowers. On her latest single, appropriately titled “Flowers,” Parx demands her flowers while she’s still among us, that way when she’s gone, her friends, family, and fans will have no regrets.

On a fast-paced, poppy, dance-ready track, Parx sings, “Give me my flowers while I’m here, so when I’m dead and gone, you won’t have to cry no tears for me.” While she is a newly independent artist, having launched her TaylaMade imprint earlier this year, the Dallas-native isn’t going to let you forget the impact she’s had (and certainly will continue to have) in the landscape of mainstream pop. Whether it’s behind the scenes or at the forefront, Parx is always going to have a reason to celebrate.

“‘Flowers’ is about living your life in the present and showing your loved ones, including yourself, how much they mean to you in the now instead of waiting until it’s too late,” said Parx in a statement. “Flowers represent life and living, and the song represents my desire to celebrate every part of my life, no matter how big or small. Go get yourself some flowers now!”

PinkPantheress And GoldLink Get To Dancing Through Their Remix Of Drake’s ‘Massive’

Drake’s new album Honestly, Nevermind has earned all types of reactions from his peers and fans. Questlove called the album a “gift” and added, “Only people not wit the program are people who don’t move their bodies. That ain’t sexy yo [shrugging emoji].” Vince Staples spoke about the uniqueness of the album and noted that he “did that in 2017.” Regardless of the reviews that the album has received, Honestly, Nevermind still topped the Billboard 200 to become Drake’s 11th No. 1 album and it also broke Apple Music’s dance album record for most first-day streams. Now, other artists are remixing tracks from the project.

The first pair of artists to do so is GoldLink and PinkPantheress who joined forces for their own take of “Massive,” one of the more popular records from Honestly, Nevermind. GoldLink leads the way with a timid entry that’s follow-up by a brief beat break. With additional production from Scottish producer Sam Gellaitry, GoldLink returns to the song filled with energy. Later on, PinkPantheress makes her with entry with her soft vocals for a solid contribution to the song.

You can listen to GoldLink and Pantheress’ remix of “Massive” above.

Matt Barnes Is “On Great Terms” With Gloria Govan & Derek Fisher

There’s a new podcast on the block, and this time, it arrives courtesy of a sports star. Iman Among Men recently released its first episode hosted by  Iman Shumpert and his brother Ahrii who added Matt Barnes to the lengthy conversation about sports, fatherhood, forgiveness, and more. Barnes has made a name for himself in and outside of the sports industry, and while his career moves have stolen attention, so have his more controversial moments that involved his personal life.

The world received an intimate look into Barnes’s family when his ex and mother of his twin sons, Gloria Govan, was a cast member on Basketball Wives. Their ups and downs were well-documented and discussed for a global audience, and when Govan moved on to her romance with his former teammate, Derek Fisher, things kicked up a notch.

There were rumors about fights to scathing words being slung across social media, but these days, said Barnes, he is in a much better place with his ex and her new husband.

“My situation played out for the world to see, with my ex and the situation, but at the end of the day, we—all of us had to put that aside because there are kids right in the middle of this sh*t,” he said. “Whether it’s blended family now or broken up family, whatever the situation may be, the reality is at some point you’re probably going to have a baby mama or baby daddy. So, [it’s] how do you put your bullsh*t to the side to realize that the bigger picture is to the kids now.”

“Whether you can’t stand her or she can’t stand you—none of that sh*t should matter once you realize that we still have kids and we’re gonna be here,” he continued. “My sh*t played out so public and nasty. I’m really happy to say now that me and my ex are on great terms and I’m cool with my former teammate that she’s married to.”

“At the end of the day, we’re all raising these kids. She’s my assistant coach on the basketball team. After all the sh*t we been through, she is coaching the twins with me, we’re coaching our kids together. I feel like, if we can do it, and our sh*t was wild and the world seen it, to me that should always be a goal.”

Cardi B Hired Angel Brinks To Style VMAs Look After Seeing Her Get “Bullied” On “Basketball Wives”

They both made appearances on hit VH1 shows and eventually, that is what aided in them working together. While the world at large was first introduced to Cardi B during her stint on Love & Hip Hop New York, fashion designer Angel Brinks gained popularity as a cast member of Basketball Wives L.A. At the time, Brinks was known for her relationship with Tyreke Evans with whom she shares a daughter, and during her time on the controversial show, she faced off against her fellow cast members.

After years away from the series, Brinks has returned for the new season, and in an interview with Page Six, she revealed that back in 2017, Cardi B’s team called her up for a styling gig due to her appearance on BBW.

The job came as a surprise, but Brinks claimed she later learned that after Cardi saw how Brinks was being “bullied” on the show, she decided to hire her for her first performance at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

“I had so much fun with her,” said Brinks. “She knew at the time what happened with me on the show being bullied and attacked. She was telling me, ‘Girl, I hated watching that happening to you on TV. You deserve so much more respect.’”

“I will always remember that,” Brinks added. “It was her first very big performance and she came to me. So I just feel very blessed.”

Brinks used BBW to help promote her career, even creating a dress for one of her co-stars, but the storyline the ladies chose to push was going after the newcomer’s business moves. It didn’t sit well with viewers at the time who took to social media to complain about the cast’s behavior. Check out new clips of Brinks’s most recent appearance on the series.

Lil Duval Catches Heat Over Criticism Of “P-Valley” Same-Sex Scene

There are plenty of shows that exist on various networks to entertain just about anybody, but Lil Duval took a moment to highlight why he has an issue with P-Valley. The hit STARZ series is centered around a Mississippi strip club and from its inception, it was a fan favorite. However, Duval hit a snag when he saw a scene that rubbed him the wrong way, so he took to Twitter to express his thoughts.

“Yea p valley lost me. They need a super gay advisory on movies like they got for everything else. Cuz That’s a lot to see if u not use to it,” he tweeted.

The responses were quick and like many of his other tweets, his message soon went viral. “I can watch gay people all day but i don’t wanna see them f*ck. And that’s not homophonic cuz i feel the same way about my momma. I can watch my momma but i don’t wanna see her F*CK!!!! Do y’all get it?” Duval also added that there are plenty of her heterosexual scenes that he isn’t a fan of, as well.

“And no the lesbian ain’t bother me cuz I’m use to it. That what y’all missing. It’s about what you’re USE TO! you’re always gon be shocked at something you’re not use to. That’s human nature. U can’t just throw something on somebody and be offended cuz they shocked.”

The writer of the episode, Patrick-Ian Polk, caught wind of the comedian’s complaints and issued a response.

“I encourage you to step away from Chucalissa. This show is not for you. Go watch something else. Cuz the gay ain’t goin’ nowhere.” Check it out below.
