H.E.R. Sues Record Label MBK Entertainment To Be Released From Contract

H.E.R. is suing MBK Entertainment for the rights to her music catalog after having signed with the record label when she was just 14 years old. Seeking to be released from the contract, she claims it is a violation of the business and professions code. The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of California in Los Angeles County on Thursday.

MBK Entertainment is owned by her longtime manager Jeff Robinson. H.E.R. claims that Robinson, operating as her manager, fired the law firm that first represented her and replaced them with his own lawyers.

“Robinson caused his own lawyers to represent Wilson in the negotiation of subsequent contracts, including publishing and touring agreements.” the lawsuit claims. She also alleges “those lawyers took 5% of the deals they negotiated, but did not have a written fee agreement or a conflict waiver signed by Wilson, and said that they performed the services ‘as a favor’ to their client Robinson who was paid 20% commission for each of those deals.”

H.E.R. argues that her deal with MBK Entertainment “significantly limited” her “employment rights” and that she “has not been free to provide her recording services except as permitted or dictated by MBK.”

She adds that the company “has exclusively owned the right to exploit her name and likeness for her recordings.”

In addition to getting out of the contract, H.E.R. wants “restitution and disgorgement of funds according to proof; for costs of suit incurred herein; and for such other and further relief as the Court deems just and proper.”

H.E.R. released her debut album, Back of My Mind, in 2021.

Logan Paul Reveals The Rock Cut Him Off Following Suicide Forest Scandal

Content creator, podcaster, and high-profile social media boxer Logan Paul has had his fair share of controversies over the years. He recently revealed that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – his idol who he had made multiple videos with – asked him to remove all content of them together, saying that he didn’t want anything to do with him anymore.

The reasoning for this cut-off dates back to when Logan Paul was primarily a YouTuber. He released a video where he and his friends are exploring the Aokigahara forest in Japan, which is infamously known as the “suicide forest” as a reference to the dozens of people that take their own lives there every year.

In the video, Paul and his friends come across a dead man and were shocked, although they proceeded to make jokes about the situation. As a result of the controversial actions, Paul lost business partnerships, entered legal issues, and his account was temporarily demonetized on YouTube.

While Logan Paul apologized and has gone on to find success and further notoriety, he recently spoke to fellow YouTuber True Geordie in a sit-down interview about how the forest incident resulted in The Rock cutting ties with him.

The 50-year-old WWE and blockbuster powerhouse had made a few Vines and skits with Paul, who was “scared to meet him” as a huge fan. However, the viral star said The Rock was “awesome” and gave him a fair shot in good faith. What happened afterwards, as Paul recounted, found him “in a hole – rightfully so – that [he] had never been in before.”

“[I was] extremely low mentally,” explained Paul, “and I got a call from my publicist who also repped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and she’s like, ‘Hey Dwayne’s asked that you remove every picture and video that you’ve done with him and maybe in the future the relationship can be reconciled but for now he basically wants nothing to do with you,’ which I also understood. I get it. You know, I made a grotesque error and he has had things happen in his life where like a lot of people that incident affected him in a personal way.”

“But I just wish I’d gotten like a call or a text or something because I thought we had a healthy relationship, an open line of communication. And I was so sad that my hero wanted nothing to do with me. And I was sad because I understood it, I really f****d up.”

Paul elaborated, “I was so disappointed in myself, and so I vowed to get better, I vowed to change, time passed, I start doing well… I just wanted to be able to build a relationship with Dwayne, that didn’t end up happening.”

Despite the rift, the 27-year-old also revealed that The Rock sent him an Instagram DM just a few months ago about a funny video Paul posted, to which he has yet to respond. Paul is still “still stuck on what happened back then.”

You can check out the full interview with True Geordie below. The conversation about The Rock begins at 21:50.

Draymond Green Gets NSFW At Warriors Championship Parade

Last week, the Golden State Warriors won their fourth NBA title in eight seasons. It was their first appearance in the Finals since back in 2019, and it was a huge moment for Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, who each have four NBA titles to their name.

Today, all three players got to hang out in San Francisco together, with the rest of their teammates. That is because today was the long-awaited championship parade. This is always the biggest celebration following a title, and fans came out in droves to support the Dubs. The Bay Area sure does love its basketball, and that love was on full display today.

At one point during the parade, some players were given the mic, where they could address the fans. That’s when Draymond Green decided to be his usual self and crack a few jokes, while also getting a bit NSFW.

For instance, the Warriors star said “I’m just going to continue to destroy people on Twitter as I have been” before exclaiming “And as always, f— everybody else.”

These words from Draymond got a huge roar from the crowd. It’s clear that he is beloved in the Bay Area and he will be for years to come. At the end of it all, those podcast jokes turned out to be for nothing.

Romeo Don’t Die Channels “DMX” Energy On His Latest Single

It’s been over a year since DMX’s passing and Canadian rapper Romeo Don’t Die has paid homage to the Yonkers legend on his latest single. Romeo served up his fiery new single, “DMX” over the weekend where he blazes Dice Playy’s string-laden production with his technical proficiencies. The rapper pairs his wit and arrogance with vigorous flows and sharp punchlines referencing Justin Trudeau and Robert Mugabe. “DMX” is an undeniable banger that’s bound to have this summer on lock.

“The song is about enemies building resentment, referencing how my ops feel like the late rapper’s Y2K film appearance in Romeo Must Die,” says Romeo of his latest effort. “DMX is a prominent influence in my life. His music reinforces my hunger and heart, keeping me on track to where I’m trying to go.”

Pharrell’s “Something in the Water” Leaves Fans Upset With Safety Conditions

Pharrell Williams’ “Something in the Water” festival was held over the weekend in Washington D.C., and many fans voiced their frustrations over the conditions they were subjected to at the event. Fans on social media complained about overcrowded sets, having personal items stolen, technical difficulties, and more.

One concertgoer, Katerra Shackelford, told WTOP News that they bailed on the third day of the festival, despite having tickets, because of the state of the event.

“Both days were terrible,” they said. “There’s nowhere to sit down. There’s no shade. There is no water. Even if you’re trying to get to the bathroom you can’t get to it. It was a shitshow.”

Shackelford added that she’s attended many festivals in the past, but this was unlike anything she had seen.

“The difference between this festival and other festivals is that it’s unsafe,” she explained. “It’s so overcrowded, you can’t get through the crowds. People are pushing through the crowds because they’re mad that they can’t get through. It’s just very narrow passageways.”

Shackelford continued: “You expect the event staff to be safe. You expect that if somebody calls out for help, the medics are going to come. As somebody who goes to festivals … you expect there to be safety protocols in place. And it was clear and obvious that there were none. The staff was untrained.”

Others, including Ngeri Nnachi from Bowie, Maryland, claimed that big crowds of fans who had stepped outside for a break were not being allowed back inside.

“I cannot believe I paid this much money to end up not seeing those I wanted to see,” they told WTOP.

Something in the Water boasted performances from Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Tyler, The Creator, 21 Savage, and many more.

Elon Musk Shows Support For Dogecoin Despite Massive Fall

If you invested in the crypto markets over the last year or so, and you kept your money there, then you have probably taken massive losses over the past few weeks. Bitcoin is dropping at an absurd rate and so is Ethereum. These are the two blue-chip cryptocurrencies and when they fall, the whole market falls with them.

One cryptocurrency that everyone knows about by now is Dogecoin. In 2021, Dogecoin was able to reach an impressive all-time high of 65 cents, with some feeling that it could get to $1. Of course, that never happened, and now, the Elon Musk-endorsed currency sits at a measly 6 cents.

Despite this fall from grace, Musk seems to be fully behind the meme coin. While taking to Twitter, Musk simply wrote “I will keep supporting Dogecoin.” There was a time when Tesla considered taking Dogecoin as payment for its cars, however, that never actually came to fruition.

Now, the cryptocurrency market is in shambles, and the pyramid scheme accusations are more prominent than ever before. While some say it’s simply the market cycle playing out, others believe this could be indicative of a much larger trend.

Either way, Musk is the richest man on the planet, so what does he care if a bunch of people lost money on the coin he told them to buy?

Blac Chyna & Rob Kardashian Settle Revenge Porn Lawsuit Without A Trial

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna have saved themselves all the drama of a celebrity trial, opting instead to settle their revenge porn case on their own, without the help of a jury, according to TMZ.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that the father of one had been denied a settlement and a judge ruled that the exes would be headed to court over their 2017 feud, during which Kardashian posted several naked photos of the 34-year-old on social media.

Greg Doherty/Getty Images

At the time, Chyna was reportedly seeking seven figures in damages for the impact that the NSFW photos had on her reputation and potential business deals.

After the judge’s ruling a few days ago, it was expected that jury selection would begin on Monday in Los Angeles, though potential jurors were informed earlier today that they’d no longer be needed as a settlement had been reached.

TMZ confirmed that even their details regarding the deal (and whether or not it was financial) at the moment are sparse, although they noted that “Rob and his legal team put up quite a fight to prevent the trial from even happening in the first place.”

Kardashian previously alleged that he and his co-parent had struck a deal to end the revenge porn case in which he agreed to “help Chyna get out of another case” if she dropped the one against him over the incriminating photos, although he said that the model “never held up her end of the bargain.”

A judge felt that the reality star’s verbal “proof” of a prior deal wasn’t good enough, which is what resulted in the scheduling of a trial. Clearly, things have since changed as the former lovers were able to come to an agreement (for once) – check back in with HNHH later for any updates on the cancelled trial.
