Rod Wave Was Reportedly Arrested For Battery By Strangulation

Florida rapper Rod Wave has reportedly been arrested in his home state and charged with battery by strangulation, according to XXL based on Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office online records. As of press time, he was still in custody and awaiting arraignment (meaning he has yet to go before a judge to enter a plea or have bail determined). Understandably, details are limited, but may be forthcoming. Stay tuned.

The timing is certainly inopportune. The breakout crooner had just announced the title and release date of his fourth studio album, Beautful Mind, over the weekend. Due June 3 on Alamo Records, the project will be Rod’s fourth in as many years beginning in 2019 with Ghetto Gospel. In 2020, he followed up with Pray 4 Love, which was warmly received, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Then, in 2021, he improved on that showing with Soulfly, which ended its first week at No. 1 on the chart.

Although the St. Petersburg rapper was mostly radio silent in the year since releasing Soulfly, he has kept his buzz alive with a few new singles, including “Nirvana,” which he had to clarify after some fans interpreted it as a possible suicide note, and “Cold December,” his first single of 2022.

Danny Brown And Jpegmafia Premiere A New Collaboration At Smoker’s Club Fest

Danny Brown and Jpegmafia have worked together several times in the past few years, developing the sort of chemistry that brings out the best in both. Now, it looks like they’re going to extend that working chemistry, which they showed off as they premiered a new collaboration during Danny Brown’s set at this past weekend’s Smoker’s Club Fest in San Bernardino, California. The two underground rappers have been working on a joint album, which they also announced during the energetic set.

The newly minted dynamic duo first joined forces on Brown’s 2019 album Uknowhatimsayin on the track “Negro Spiritual.” Jpegmafia also produced the album’s single “3 Tearz” featuring Run The Jewelz. Then, Brown returned the favor, appearing in a hype video for Peggy’s 2020 EP, EP! (snicker), hanging out with him for an informal conversation at the end of the video “HTBAR 1.” They trade compliments after Jpeg declares “I’m not a big rapper,” taking turns telling each other, “No you’re a big rapper!”

Brown is currently working on the release of his sixth studio album, Quaranta, while Jpeg recently released his fourth album, LP!, which dropped in two different versions, online and retail, due to sample clearance issues. Stay tuned for more about their joint album.

Jack Harlow Enlists Topanga From “Boy Meets World” For Album Trailer

We’re just days away from the release of Jack Harlow’s forthcoming sophomore album, Come Home The Kids Miss You. Whether or not you are anticipating the album’s release, it’s hard to deny that Harlow’s had one helluva rollout so far. He’s collaborated alongside Kanye for Donda 2, went to Turk’s & Caicos with Drake (presumably recording the infamous leaked collab shortly after), and now, he’s enlisted one of a 90s icon for the official trailer for the forthcoming project.

Danielle Fishel, the actress who played the iconic Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World in the 90s, came through to assist Harlow in the latest promo for the album. The brief trailer includes a snippet of new music as the camera strolls down a residential street before stopping at a mini-van where a distraught Fishel is seated in the driver’s seat with two children playing in the backseat.

What might be surprising to some is that Fishel was a fan of Harlow before the two linked up for the trailer. In 2018, Harlow joined Fishel and Jensen Karp on the Get Up On This podcast. After the podcast dropped, Harlow revealed that he did, indeed, sit down with Topanga and that she was a fan of his tunes.

Harlow’s new album, Come Home The Kids Miss You is due out this Friday, May 6th. Are you checking it out when it drops? Let us know in the comment section.

Justin Lin reportedly stepped down as the director of the upcoming installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X, due to the on-set behavior of Vin Diesel, according to a report from the New York Daily News. Colby Covington’s Chipped Tooth Revealed In New Photos

Back in March, it was reported that Jorge Masvidal scoped out Colby Covington outside of a restaurant in Miami. As Covington was leaving the spot, Masvidal allegedly ran up on him and punched him numerous times in the head. Since the incident, Covington has claimed that he was left with a chipped tooth and that he even suffered a brain injury at the hands of the UFC fighter.

Since the altercation took place, Masvidal has since plead not guilty, although he is still facing due process through the legal system. In fact, according to TMZ, images of Covington’s chipped tooth were released to the public, and can be seen using the “Via” link down below.

Bradford Cohen, the attorney for Masvidal, is saying that these photos are proof that Covington only suffered minor injuries. As for the brain issue, Cohen believes Covington should have to get independent medical exams to show the extent of his supposed “brain injury.” As it stands, Cohen is trying to get the judge to order Covington to get this done.

Needless to say, the proceedings have been very messy thus far. Masvidal and Covington do not like each other, and it has ultimately led to the legal showdown that is upon us.

Benny The Butcher Says He Doesn’t Know What Caused Beef With Freddie Gibbs

Fans were excited about the possibility that Benny The Butcher and Freddie Gibbs would be joining forces for a collaborative project. The two established a solid rapport on songs like “1 Way Flight,” “Frank Lucas,” and more. Unfortunately, the speculation that there was tension between the two turned out to be true after they traded shots publicly on social media earlier this year, killing any possibility of collaborations in the future.

Benny recently appeared on Drink Champs where he opened up about the situation. Though he seemed visibly uneager to divulge details surrounding the falling out, he was admittedly confused by the tweet Gibbs shared that made light of the Buffalo rapper’s Houston shooting. NORE said that he thought Benny and Freddie were tight based on their working relationship and previously touring together. “It really ain’t nothin’, you know… I don’t get to, like, into, like, rap relationships,” he said. “A lot of times it don’t be real, you feel what I’m sayin’? So it’s like, I guess that n***a put a tweet up or some weird shit and I don’t know why he did that shit.”

When NORE asked if they were homies, Benny replied, “That’s what I thought.”

Ultimately, it seems that Benny is more interested on moving on from the situation, especially with his new deal with Def Jam in effect. NORE asked about what led up to the beef. Benny simply said that he’s not wasting any time trying to figure it out. “I don’t know. I don’t even care to ponder on it because this shit will get crazy if you start letting your feelings in this shit,” he said.

In the state of Florida, battery by strangulation is classified as a third-degree felony and carries a maximum sentence of five years behind bars.

The arrest comes just days after Wave announced that his fourth studio album, Beautiful Mind, will be releasing next month. Wave had previously spoken about retiring from the music industry in the near future, so fans were excited to hear he was set on dropping a new project.

“I’m only here for a little longer and when I say that I mean as in Rod Wave,” he said during a live stream on Instagram, back in January. “I’m only here for a lil’ minute, man. I done gave y’all straight dope, straight crack. Ain’t nobody’s f*cking with me with that pen. This sh*t not really me, man. I’m not no people person, I’m not no center of attention ass n***a, I hate attention, man. I can’t get on the internet without seeing my face or name. […] It’s kind of like you sold your soul, bro, ’cause you say that’s not you but for $300K it’ll be me.”

Neither Wave’s camp nor the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office have commented on the arrest at this time.

Young Thug Says ‘Broke’ Men Shouldn’t Be Able to Have Kids

Young Thug is putting broke men on blast.

The YSL rapper went on Instagram Live last week to share his controversial views about men having children without the means to support them. According to Thug, there should be rules against reproducing unless you’re financially fit.

“God need to set some rules, bruh, we need new rules,” he said, according to Complex. “We need a new oath, bruh. If you dead broke, if you a broke-ass ni**a, you should not be able to nut.”

It’s unclear what inspired his rant, but Thug let it be known that he has no sympathy. “You bringing poor kids into this world and you making n***as rob and kill and steal ’cause you running around with no type of career, no nothing,” he continued. “Having kids, now your kids growing up wanting shit, your kids growing up looking at Thug and his game.”

According to Thug, the same goes for women who aspire to live lavishly despite their economic status. “When you ain’t got nothing, worth nothing, don’t have a future, your job don’t got nothing to do with what you went to school for, you got to adjust to whatever a ni**a do for you,” he said.

Added Thug, “You can’t want top-tier situations and you’re the bottom of the barrel… Bitches be dead ass broke wantin’ a Birkin. Bitch, where the hell you gon’ put the Birkin, in the Uber? Y’all hoes tryna go to step 10 from zero.”

In March, a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of LaKevia Jackson, the mother of Thug’s 14-year-old son, Kyvion Jackson. The man allegedly shot and killed Jackson following a dispute at an Atlanta bowling alley.

Thug, who can be heard on Future’s new album I Never Liked You, has also been teasing new music. He recently shared the artwork for what appears to be a new project.
