Summer Walker Announces Her ‘A Hot Summer Night In LA’ Show With Jazmine Sullivan, Ari Lennox, And More
June 24 is going to be a hot summer night in LA — both literally (likely) and figuratively (almost assuredly). A Hot Summer Night In LA is the name of Summer Walker‘s headlining concert at the Staples Ce-fine, Crypto.com Arena (yuck), which will feature a slew of special guests including Jazmine Sullivan, Ari Lennox, Saucy Santana, Joyce Wrice, Doechii, and Alex Vaughn. Ladies, leave your man at home. The show is billed as part of BET Awards weekend, with a special pre-sale for Summer Walker fans today through May 5 at 10 pm PT. The general sale starts on Friday at 10 am.
The show will be something of a coronation for Ms. Walker, who released her new album Still Over It last November to a truly impressive reception. It became the first album by a female R&B singer to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since 2016 (following Solange’s A Seat At The Table) and signified that R&B’s mainstream comeback is no passing fancy. A Hot Summer Night In LA is sure to keep that energy going with a lineup consisting mainly of R&B-singing women backed by rappers who bring boss-bitch energy.
The notoriously spotlight-shy Walker followed up with a slew of performances running through spring, including this week’s Broccoli City Festival in DC and the just passed, female-fronted Sol Blume Festival in Sacramento (see photos here).
The Kidd Creole Has Been Sentenced To 16 Years In Prison For A Fatal 2017 Stabbing
After being convicted of first-degree manslaughter for a 2017 stabbing, Kidd Creole, formerly of pioneering rap band Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison, according to Rolling Stone. Creole, real name Nathaniel Glover, was accused of stabbing a John Jolly, a 55-year-old homeless man, to death on the street, believing that Jolly was propositioning him.
In a statement, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said, “Mr. Jolly’s death was devastating to his family and those who knew him. Every life we lose to violent crime ripples throughout our entire city, and we will continue to ensure everyone in our borough can live their lives with the sense of safety and security they deserve. This case makes clear that if you commit a violent crime, we will hold you accountable, and I thank our team for their hard work achieving justice in this matter.”
However, Glover’s lawyer Scottie Celestin sees the sentence as “egregious and extreme.” He told Rolling Stone, “I continue to have faith in our judicial system. My focus is now on the appeal process. There are many appealable issues, specifically the denial of Mr. Glover being able to assert the justification of self-defense, despite the fact that he was retreating and the victim followed behind him. While some may be happy with the presumed victory of the acquittal on the top charge of Murder, we don’t view it as a win. I believe the 16 years given are heavy-handed and motivated not by the evidence and mitigating facts but by external factors.”
As a member of the Furious Five, The Kidd Creole was pivotal in the early development of the hip-hop music business. The group’s 1982 hit “The Message” is largely credited as one of rap’s first “conscious” songs and was added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
Fabolous Comes With Bars On “Cheerio” Freestyle
Fabolous has been slowly popping up with new heat this year but it’s still unclear whether he has a new mixtape on the way. The rapper came through last night with his latest offering, “Cheerio Freestyle.” The Brooklyn MC flexes his punchline prowess and witty wordplay over Jovannibeats production.
Earlier this year, Fabolous linked up with Jim Jones for their “Coke Zero” freestyle over Pusha T’s “Diet Coke.” Jones also announced that Fab would appear on the forthcoming single from The Lobby Boyz titled, “No Bobby V.” That single is scheduled to arrive this Friday.
Fabolous released his last project, Summertime Shootout 3: Coldest Summer Ever back in 2019. Hopefully, the release of “Cheerio Freestyle” indicates that he has more music coming this summer.
Check his latest freestyle below.

Ray J Alleges Kim Kardashian & Kris Jenner Were Involved In Leaking Sex Tape: Twitter Reacts
Ray J revealed during a recent interview with The Daily Mail that Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner were both involved in leaking the couple’s infamous 2007 sex tape. The comments quickly went viral on social media and users are taking sides in the matter.
“I have never leaked a sex tape in my life,” Ray J told the outlet in the bombshell story. “It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”

Ray J admitted that the narrative around the leak has even made him suicidal: “I felt suicidal because when you know something’s real and it’s true and you’re watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they’ve created, it’s heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft.”
Conservative pundit Candace Owens says that the report has changed her opinion on the Kardashians.
“Ray J breaking his silence on the Kim Kardashian sex tape is insane,” she wrote on Twitter, Wednesday. “For years I actually believed Kim was the victim. It is difficult to process how evil Hollywood is and what people will do for fame. A mother selling her daughter’s body is demonic.”
Another user remarked that it was already clear Kardashian was involved in the leak: “15 years later, and Ray J finally tell us what we* already knew. *Black people and others who have common sense.”

Benzino Calls Out Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame For Eminem Induction
Benzino’s one-sided beef with Eminem finally came to an end in March when Zino said that the beef was over. However, that doesn’t mean that Benzino gained any respect for Eminem’s penmanship.

This morning, it was announced that Eminem was leading the 2022 class of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees. While many celebrated Em’s accomplishment, Benzino said that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame treats hip-hop no differently than the Grammys without mentioning his former adversary. “Rock and roll hall of fame is just like the Grammy’s, they have no respect for our culture, Black or Hip Hop and if you don’t agree, you’re racist, period point blank,” he tweeted.
Benzino isn’t the only person who feels this way. Rolling Stone published an article pointing out that Em was inducted into the Hall Of Fame before the pioneers that paved the way. “Eminem has now been inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame before countless Black hip-hop pioneers who paced the way for his success. What message does that send?” The tweet linking to the article reads.
“So where’s Nas, Eric B and RAKIM, Kool Moe D, Epmd, Fearless Four, Fat Boyz, Lauren Hill, Little Kim, OutKast and 100s other Black rappers?? GTFOH,” he wrote in a separate tweet.

Kevin Durant Hit With Massive Boos In Greece
Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA, but he is far from the most popular. A lot of fans do not like KD, especially following his move to the Golden State Warriors back in 2016. It was a move that lost the respect of a lot of fans, and while most people have moved on, there are still some other people out there who believe this was one of the worst things to happen to the NBA.
Having said that, it should come as no surprise that KD doesn’t always get a warm reception when he shows up somewhere. Polite fans will always show him love, however, if he is in a hostile environment, you can expect a lot of people to have some negative things to say or do.

In the video below, you can see Durant attending a EuroLeague game in Greece. The fans at these games are always pretty rowdy and as soon as Durant was shown on the screen at the game, he was met with a chorus of boos. Durant didn’t seem to mind this, however, as he was mostly just laughing the whole time.
Durant did acknowledge that the fans in Europe are pretty crazy, noting that if a fan brought a flare to an NBA game, they would immediate be locked up.
Suffice it to say, despite the boos, KD had himself a good time.
