Orlando Museum Of Art Accused of Displaying Fake Jean-Michel Basquiat Paintings

Orlando Museum Of Art Fake Jean Michel Basquiat Paintings

The Orlando Museum of Art has been accused of displaying over two dozen counterfeit paintings they claim were created by acclaimed artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The New York Times reported over the weekend that the FBI is investigating 25 paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat that have been unveiled in Florida for about three months.

The investigation started after the Times reported on questions that were raised about the paintings’ authenticity a week after the exhibit opened. The artworks in question are valued at roughly $100 million.

According to the museum, the pieces are authentic and genuine from the late American Neo-expressionist painter, who rose to fame in the 1980s.

Aaron De Groft, the museum’s director and chief executive, asserts that Basquiat’s works were sold from himself directly to Hollywood screenwriter Thad Mumford for a mere $5,000 in cash. Said to have been created in 1982 while he was living and working out of a studio space in Venice, California.

According to The New York Times, The F.B.I.’s Art Crime Team is interested in ‘Untitled’ (Self-Portrait or Crown Face II), a particular piece (pictured below) that Basquiat was said to have painted on a FedEx cardboard box that was not even used by the company until 1994, six years after the famed painter died of a drug overdose.

According to the Brooklyn Museum, before his death in 1988, Basquiat is believed to have created roughly around 2,100 artworks. The exhibit runs for another month before the paintings go on display in Italy.

LeBron James Reacts To Bryce James’ Latest Highlight Reel Play

LeBron James has always displayed immense pride when it comes to his two sons, Bryce and Bronny. As many of you already know, Bronny is well on his way to the NCAA as he enters his final year of high school at Sierra Canyon. In the meantime, Bryce just came off of his first year at Sierra Canyon and he was definitely impressive. In fact, some scouts are already saying that Bryce might have a higher ceiling than Bronny who is expected to be drafted in the second round of the NBA draft.

Over the weekend, Bryce got to play some EYBL ball and he was definitely impressive throughout his games. In the clip posted below, Bryce got to show off his layup package as he charged the lane, blew past the defenders, and came through with the impressive bucket. It was a good demonstration of his skill at such a young age.

In true LeBron fashion, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar took to Twitter with a reaction to the play. As you can see down below, he very simply said “Ayyyyyeeee!!!!” with some emojis for good measure. While it might not be much, there is no doubt that LeBron loves seeing his boys play.

It remains to be seen where Bryce will go with his basketball career, however, it is clear that his future is very bright, especially with the guidance of his father.

Charles Barkley Reveals His NBA Title Pick For 2023

With the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics off to the NBA Finals, some people are already thinking about next year’s champion. Of course, a lot of teams experienced injuries this season while others will have new and improved rosters. This has many speculating on what we are going to see out on the court, and as you can imagine, the Inside The NBA crew has been a major part of that discussion.

Recently, Charles Barkley was asked whether or not the Dallas Mavericks could be title contenders next year. Barkley let out an emphatic no explaining how the roster just isn’t there yet. However, he did say that the Los Angeles Clippers are his pick for the title as he believes Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be healthy and ready to show that they are the best duo in the world.

“My favorite next year is gonna be the Clippers,” Barkley said. “When they get Kawhi Leonard and Paul George back healthy, with all the trades they made. So the Mavericks — as I told you last year about the Atlanta Hawks — that was fool’s gold last year. That was more of a Philadelphia meltdown than the Hawks beating them. To me, it’s the same thing this year with the Mavs. It was really more of a Phoenix Suns meltdown, but they got a long way to go to be a contender in my opinion.”

Without Kawhi, the Clippers made it to the Western Conference Finals just a couple of years ago. Having said that, there is a real chance they could do something impressive at full strength. It isn’t going to be easy though as the Western Conference is more stacked than it has ever been.

Let us know what you think of Barkley’s remarks, in the comments below.

Mo’Nique Demands Receipts From DL Hughley After His Latest IG Post

Mo’Nique isn’t holding back in her recent rift against D.L. Hughley. Mo’nique called out D.L. Hughley during a recent set because of a contract dispute. Despite the paperwork indicating that she would be headlining the show, it turned out to be D.L. Hughley that closed out the evening of comedy.

Michael Loccisano/Getty Images

In response, D.L. Hughley issued a scathing response where he suggested that Mo’Nique was difficult to work with. Hughley said that people just needed to look at the ticket stub to figure out who the headlining act was for the night before ripping through the list of individuals that Mo’Nique’s had issues with. “People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract,” he wrote. “Apparently, the role you played in PRECIOUS turned out to be an autobiography.”

Mo’Nique evidently wasn’t going to let this one slide. In a lengthy comment on D.L.’s post, Mo’Nique said that his decision to point to the ticket stub before his contract is enough proof to establish that he wasn’t intended to be the headliner.

“The fact that you point the people to the ticket stubs for the order of the names versus to your contract implies that you don’t have a contract that shows you are the headliner like I do. Either show your contract or be quiet,” she wrote before urging him not to mess with her. “But I think you DL because you’re the reason why I fight for my people like I do. Anytime you opened for the King’s Of Comedy, and I was the headliner for the Queens of Comedy and you think you should close the show over me is a prime example of the bias that Black women have to deal with in this business. I won’t even discuss awards.”

D.L. has yet to respond but we’ll keep you posted if he does.
