Netflix Moves On From Will Smith’s “Fast And Loose” Film Amid Oscars Backlash: Report

In the aftermath of “The Slap,” Will Smith may be in for more trouble than he bargained for. According to an exclusive story from The Hollywood Reporter, leading streaming service Netflix has quietly backed away from a project it had in the works that was to be led by the King Richard star.

Prior to the altercation at the 94th Academy Awards last weekendFast and Loose had already lost its director, David Leitch, who opted to walk away in favour of a project starring Canadian actor Ryan Gosling called Fall Guy for Universal, due to begin production in August.

Sources have informed the publication that Netflix was “competing with Universal to be the next project for Leitch, but [the latter] pulled ahead.” The same insider has also revealed that an urgent call was put out for another director to take over the project, but after watching the violence unfold onstage at the Oscars, it’s been moved to the back burner.

Fast and Loose was to tell the story of a crime boss who loses his memory after an attack,” THR explains. “Piecing together clues, he discovers that he has led a double identity as a wealthy kingpin and a broke CIA agent.”

At this time, it remains unclear if Netflix will move forward with another actor and director at a later date, and Smith has several other projects in the work that are said to have also been put on pause.

His Apple+ slave escape drama Emancipation is currently in post-production with a planned 2022 release date (Apple has declined to comment amid the drama), and Bad Boys 4 – which was in active development before – has reportedly been paused. “A few other projects in pre-production are likely to do the same,” sources say.

Polo G Reveals That He Nearly Overdosed Before The Video Shoot For His 2019 Song ‘Heartless’

Almost two years ago, Polo G released his second album The GOAT, and it was a project that helped boost him towards the star title he claims today. The full-length effort was highlighted by songs like “Martin & Gina,” “21,” and “33” with fellow Chicagoan Juice WRLD. However, Polo G nearly didn’t make it to the album’s spring 2020 release. According to a post he shared on Instagram, he nearly overdosed prior to shooting the music video for “Heartless” which was released with Mustard in 2019.

“Back story Fa Dat video I was Fresh out the hospital bed From almost overdosing Onnem pills,” he wrote to his followers in a post on his Instagram Story. Thankfully he was able to make a quick recovery and head back to work. “I pop right back out & Shoot Dat Video now dat Bitch Platinum w 100ms By it,” he added. This is not the first time that Polo has admitted to struggling with drugs. Back in December, he recalled a near-death experience where he almost overdosed on 17 pills.

“When I woke up, I was in the hospital,” he said according to Complex. “And my pops was just explaining to me like, ‘Yeah, man, they said you would had been here any second, even a minute later, you wouldn’t have made it. You probably could’ve passed.’” He added that he had no recollection of the incident. “They was just walking me through everything that happened that day, because I really didn’t remember at all,” he said. “I think it was like 17 pills I had took in one day, about 15 Xanax and two [Ecstasy] pills.”

The Braxton Sisters Celebrate Traci Braxton On Her Birthday

Today (April 2), the Braxton sisters came together to celebrate the life and loss of their sister Traci. Traci succumbed to her battle with esophageal cancer on March 12. Despite issues between her husband and former manager, Traci’s family still came together to give her the proper send off.

“Someone lied and said “it gets easier”. It doesn’t. You just continue to live without. On your last birthday, we all wer so hopeful and Optimistic and said it wasn’t going to be your last one. We were right because Today and EVERY birthday we will celebrate you just like we said we would. #happyheavenlybirthday our sisterly bond is unbreakable. #foreverthebraxtongirls we love you #TrayDay,” Tamar shared a birthday message on Instagram.

“Happy Birthday to my sister, Traci Braxton. I miss you every day. I still feel like I am dreaming and can not wake up. Words can not express the “Traci-ness” that is now missing from our lives. I miss your light, your laugter, and most of all, the amazing heart that only you possessed. I love you, my Trae Rae. Happy Birthday, my darling sister,” Trina Braxton wrote.

The Braxton family has been in a riff with her husband Kevin Surratt and former manager since the passing of Traci. Since her death, the family believes that Surratt is exploiting her. It’s alleged that Surratt went against her wishes and held a service despite her desire to be cremated immediately after passing. Her former manager also held is own service during which he allegedly would not allow Traci’s father to enter.

Traci Braxton would have been 51 today.
