Charlotte Day Wilson Announces Tour Dates And Releases The Deluxe Version of ‘Alpha’

After two standout EPs, Toronto’s Charlotte Day Wilson finally released her much-anticipated debut LP, Alpha, this year. The elegant record is a can’t miss collection of tightly-constructed songs about Queer love that easily stands up among this year’s best releases. It features tracks with fellow Canandians Badbadnotgood and Daniel Caesar, as well as Syd on “Take Care Of You.” Day Wilson is as memorable as a singer as she is a producer and her production on “Mountains” was sampled by Drake on his track “Fair Trade” off of Certified Lover Boy.

Today, Day Wilson has shared US tour dates in support of Alpha, as well as a deluxe version of the album. The release features two new tracks in “Even Is The Lie” and a remix version of “Take Care Of You,” this time, featuring guest vocals from King Princess, Amaarae, and Meshell Ndegeocello. It’s a new dimension to the track that pairs Day Wilson with other contemporary like-minded singers.

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Lawyer Revealed To Have Trump Connections

Travis Scott has been in a whole heap of trouble since this year’s Astroworld Festival, where 10 people were killed and 300 injured as the result of a crowd crush. Now, he and Astroworld promoter Live Nation (and Live Nation’s ScoreMore subsidiary) are facing over 100 lawsuits from attendees and the families of victims, with the total damages being demanded topping $3 billion. Among them are the families of a nine-year-old and a 14-year-old who both died due to their injuries, as well as a pair of security guards from the concert who handled what they believed to be dead bodies.

Yesterday, it was reported that Travis and Live Nation had secured representation for the upcoming onslaught of cases (which might be condensed to one, big, more manageable case), but today, it looks like Travis’ choice is already drawing even more negative attention for the embattled Houston rapper. As interested parties look into Daniel Petrocelli, Travis’ lawyer, they’ve come to realize that Petrocelli was the lawyer that Donald Trump called to defend him from fraud lawsuits stemming from his Trump University real estate seminars. Petrocelli was able to negotiate a $25 million settlement.

That may be just the outcome the rapper is looking for; at least one of the lawsuits against him is demanding $750 million among 120 Astroworld attendees, so paying out just a fraction via settlement could very well be the best-case scenario for him.

Antonio Brown’s Lawyer Reacts To Three-Game Suspension

Antonio Brown was officially suspended three games by the NFL and NFLPA today after it was revealed that he had lied about his vaccination status. Unlike Aaron Rodgers, Brown used a fake vaccination card which ultimately duped his teammates and the franchise as a whole. As a result, Brown was made an example of, alongside his teammate Mike Edwards.

As a direct response to today’s reports, Brown’s lawyer Sean Burstyn issued a statement in which he proclaimed his client’s innocence. In a tweet from Ian Rapoport, Burstyn was adamant that Brown is, indeed, vaccinated and that he will continue to encourage others to get the jab. With that said, Brown will not be fighting this ruling.

Per Burstyn:

“Mr. Brown is vaccinated and continues to support the vaccine for any person for whom it is appropriate. The NFL made its determination and, instead of going through the drawn out process of challenging the outcome, Mr. Brown wrapped this up promptly and he will make this most of this time by treating an ankle injury. Mr. Brown will be motivated, well rested, and in the best shape of his life when he returns in week 16.”

NBA Youngboy Compares Labels’ Deals With Artists To Slavery

NBA Youngboy says that he’s never been paid for any of his millions of views on YouTube and compared labels’ contracts with artists to slavery during his recent appearance on DJ Akademiks’ podcast, Off The Record.

“I think as you…you learn how badly you’ve been taken advantage of,” Youngboy began. “I never got paid for YouTube a day in my life. N***as make all the money off my YouTube, and then give me a small percentage of my sh*t. All that shit slavery or something. But you know, that’s what we signed up for in this business.”

The statement comes days after all of Youngboy’s YouTube videos were mysteriously taken down from the site.

He continued to suggest that one of the only people in the music industry he trusts is Mike Caren the founder of Artist Partner Group and Creative Officer at Warner Music Group.

“Other than being a free-agent, or being signed to Stunna, I don’t wanna do no business with nobody but Mike Caren,” he admitted. “I feel like, Mike gonna support me. … He was open to my ideas, he didn’t try to control the artist or the way I present myself.”

Adrian Peterson Reveals Why He Chose The Seahawks

Adrian Peterson is one of the best running backs in the history of the NFL, and while he might be 36, he is still getting a ton of great opportunities within the NFL. For instance, Peterson was on the Tennessee Titans just a few weeks ago, however, he ended up getting released. Now, Peterson has just been signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, and he is looking to make the most out of that opportunity, as well.

With Peterson making his way to Seattle this week, he got to speak to reporters about his new role with the team and how he ended up with the club. As he explains, his decision was an easy one as he saw the perfect place to do what he’s done for the vast majority of his life.

“For the love of the game,” Peterson said. “Just coming out and being a leader, bringing the extra energy to the facility. Also, on the field as well, that’s kind of what we are judged off of. The biggest impact you can make is on an individual.” Based on these comments, it’s clear that Peterson is ready to make an impact, even if it’s a limited one.

The Seahawks have not had a lot of reasons to be excited this year, however, Peterson’s presence could certainly inject some energy into the franchise. With just six games left, the team might as well make the most of it.

Antonio Brown Suspended 3 Games For Fake Vaccination Card

Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a bombshell report that came out stating how Antonio Brown had purposely deceived the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by getting himself a fake vaccination card. Brown and his lawyer completely denied any wrongdoing here, however, the allegations were enough for the NFL and the NFLPA to launch a full-blown investigation against the wide receiver.

Today, the NFL and NFLPA made a decision on the matter as they decided to suspend AB, as well as his teammate Mike Edwards for three games. Both were found to have used a fake vaccination card, and that is ultimately why they have been suspended. What makes this interesting, is that the NFLPA is completely signing off on the suspension.

As Adam Schefter reports, Brown is still in the midst of his ankle recovery, however, the suspension is still going to stand for the next three weeks. Brown’s lawyer has gotten involved again, noting that he did nothing wrong and that Brown is, indeed, vaccinated. Regardless, they will not fight the suspension and moving forward, AB will have to wait three games before he can even think about returning to the roster.

In the aftermath of the ruling, the Buccaneers put out a statement noting that they completely understand the decision and that they will continue to promote COVID-19 safety.

Guapdad 4000 Flexes His Way Through The City In His Glittering ‘Money’ Video

If there’s one thing Oakland rapper Guapdad 4000 loves, it’s money. So it makes sense that’s the title of his new single, “Money,” which he released today along with a glittering music video that finds him wandering the Bay Area adorned in a sparkling collection of necklaces, a brand new grill, and memorabilia from his favorite animated shows, Rick & Morty and Cowboy Bebop. All along he does his signature “I just got the receipt dance” to the funky Drew Banga-produced beat, which samples the instantly recognizable bassline and hooks from The O’Jays’ 1974 hit “For The Love Of Money.”

Whether the new single means another project is on the way remains to be seen, but he’s had a tremendous year nonetheless. “Money” is the self-declared scam boy’s first original single since completing the rollout of his heartfelt album 1176 with producer Illmind. The album, which appears on Uproxx’s Best Albums Of 2021 and Best Hip-Hop Albums Of 2021 lists, also spawned the singles “How Many,” “She Wanna,” and “Chicken Adobo,” as well as a remix of “How Many” featuring Rick Ross. If this is how Guapdad kicks off his 2022 campaign, it’s a fun, catchy way to do so after shaking off his demons on his last album.

You can watch the video for “Money” above.

Guapdad 4000 is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
