Tm88 & Pi’erre Bourne Share New Song, “Block boy”

Ahead of their upcoming collaborative album Yo!88, Pi’erre Bourne and TM88 have shared a new single – “Block boy.” The 808 Mafia alum brings bouncy production, while Bourne lends his voice for some autotune bars, sounding similar in style to Playboi Carti, who he creatively collaborated with early in his career.

The Fader reports that Moon and Lexx Beats also played a part in producing the song. The instrumental hears synth horns harmonizing with “a chipmunked backing track and Zaytovenesque keys over traditional trap drums and a speaker-knocking bass.”

Pi’erre and 88’s album is set to arrive this coming Friday, December 10th. The producer dropped off the track list earlier this week, revealing that Wiz Khalifa will be featured on “@ Chit Chat” and Young Nudy will appear on “Richer Dreams”. The album’s other nine songs will hear efforts from the “Block boy” hitmakers solely.

Quotable Lyrics:

Keep some Soss on the side
Diamonds hitting like a rainbow
Diamonds hit like pride
, run it up Usain Bolt
Getting money, I strive
Ride my wave like a Speedboat
Niggas still switching sides, yeah, I’d never switch on my guys

French Montana Says He Has No Beef With 50 Cent After “BMF”

The feud between 50 Cent and French Montana was sparked over something as petty as the year a Bugatti was released. While the two have publicly traded shots back-and-forth ever since, it appears that French doesn’t harbor any type of negative energy towards Fif after breezing through Starz’ BMF.

French Montana is fresh off of the release of his latest project, They Got Amnesia and recently sat down with the good folks at Drink Champs for an in-depth conversation about his career. On the topic of 50 Cent, French Montana explained that he has no beef with the fellow New Yorker off of the strength of Fif’s television empire.

“Man, let me tell you something. Me, I have no problem with 50 no more after he dropped this BMF joint. That’s my favorite shit,” he said. “Whatever me and 50 ever had — shout out to 50. Yeah, me and him, everything is over after BMF. That’s the best work ever.”

While 50 Cent has yet to respond, Southwest T chimed in on French’s comments. He shared the clip on his Instagram page where he expressed his appreciation for French’s maturity.

“Much love and Major Respect @frenchmontana thanks for the shout out but more so thanks for being the bigger man because we need to lead by example the youth is always watching #bmf #263 changing lives,” he wrote.

Maybe, we’ll see French Montana appear in some sort of fashion in season 2 of BMF. Check French’s full Drink Champs episode below.

The Hundreds Of Lawsuits Against Travis Scott And Astroworld Could Be Combined Into A Single Case

Next week will mark one month since the tragedy that occurred at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival. The incident left ten dead and hundreds injured. It also left the rapper with hundreds of lawsuits, with those affected aiming to receive compensation for their injuries and loss. According to Rap-Up, 275 cases have been filed against Scott as well as organizers and promoters behind Astrowrold, but a much simpler process seems to be in the works for the mounting lawsuits. According to Billboard, all of the cases against Scott and Astroworld organizers could be consolidated into one giant case.

The attorneys for both the victims and the festival filed a joint petition on December 3 that would combine the 275 cases into a multi-district litigation that would be handled by one judge. They both agreed that consolidating the cases would be the best and simplest way to handle the lawsuits, which include over 1,250 plaintiffs. The petition is pending approval from a judge, but if it gets the green light, a new judge would then be selected to oversee the overall case.

“This type of litigation is exactly what the Texas MDL process is designed to address,” they wrote in their petition. It was filed after nearly half of the families of victims’ from Astroworld turned down Scott’s offer to pay for the funerals of those who died at the festival. A lawyer representing one of the victims’ families said, “Of all the things this case is about, that’s the least of any concern.” They added, “This family is set on making change and ensuring this never happens at a concert again.”

Astroworld Investigative Report Describes Festival As “A Catastrophe Weeks In The Making”

Weeks have passed since the tumultuous event that was this year’s Astroworld Festival took place, but that doesn’t mean the pain of those impacted has gotten any easier to deal with. A new investigative report from The Houston Chronicle is offering new insight into exactly what went wrong at the Travis Scott founded event from all angles, noting that it was a “catastrophe weeks in the making.”

The article names “failures by multiple authorities tasked with ensuring the safety of attendees that day, including inadequate and poorly trained security, deficiencies coordination between city officials and festival management, and a nearly hour long delay in halting the show after the danger became apparent” as key reasons why things fell apart.

Following the November 5th disaster, countless theories hit social media – some saying that concert goers were injected by drugs, prompting them to go into cardiac arrest – as outsiders tried to piece together what possibly could’ve been happened at the “concert in hell,” as its been described by some patrons.

Interviews with The Houston Chronicle recount stories from attendees and security guards alike. Samuel Bush told the outlet that his nephew, Jackson, texted him with word of a potential security job at the show (it’s been reported that ASM executives had spent weeks stressing over staffing concerns at Astroworld, and as a result, took on a bunch of last minute hires), saying that all they had to do was text their information to a number on the listing; both men did, and were told to arrive at NRG Park dressed in all black the next morning.

The posting advertised the security role at an appealing wage of $30 an hour for two 16-hour days. Samuel, who had worked security in the past, thought it would be “easy money,” but when he and Jackson arrived at work, they were given, “no training or nothing. We just went to work.” Neither of the Bush men were asked for a security guard license status or background check.

This is particularly troubling considering that “the lowest-level security guard license in Texas involves a six-hour training course, a background check and registering with the Department of Public Safety.” While Jackson would be in the clear by these standards, state records show, Samuel would not, and it’s entirely likely hundreds of other guards working that day wouldn’t have either.

The entire article takes a much deeper dive into the Astroworld fiasco, sharing stories from Namrata Shahani, whose sister, Bharti, passed away at the event, attendees Max Morbidelli and Juan Garcia, as well as unnamed sources who aren’t authorized to speak on the matter publicly – check it out here.

Rick Ross, Lil Baby & Lil Wayne Dominate This Week’s “Fire Emoji” Playlist

Last week was understandably slow in terms of new music releases. The holiday season arrived and even rappers were taking a break from their usual activities to spend some time with the family. However, we’re back this week with another edition of Fire Emoji playlist including new heat from the biggest stars in hip-hop.

For starters, Polo G is fresh off of the release of Hall Of Fame 2.0. The rapper promised to deliver a deluxe edition of his project with music catered to his day one fans. However, he did bring along some A-Listers. Lil Baby comes through with the assist on “Don’t Play,” marking his second appearance on the playlist along with Nardo Wick’s “Me Or Sum” with Future. Additionally, we got Polo G’s “Suicide” ft. Lil Tjay on this week’s playlist.

The wait for Rick Ross’ next studio album is real. The rapper recently unveiled his new single, “Little Havana” ft. Willie Falcon & The-Dream, a promising cut ahead of the release of Richer Than I Ever Been.

Cordae has been building the anticipation for his sophomore album. On Friday, he blessed fans with his new single, “Sinister” ft. Lil Wayne, which was a shoo-in for this week’s playlist.

Cochise Is Feeling “CAUTIOUS” On His New Single

For his latest release, “CAUTIOUS,” Cochise has teamed up with Jootsu to create a song that mixes “new technology and sound formats across music and visuals.” The Jamaica-based artist also shared a music video to accompany the track, which has already earned over 25,000 likes on YouTube.

The Chivalry directed clip bounces back and forth between animated and live action visuals, taking us on a trip that pairs perfectly with the out of the box single. “I feel sorry for Cochise in a way,” one user wrote in the comments. “He’ll never know what its like to miss, the dude is clinically diagnosed as incapable of missing. Its a beautiful tragedy.”

If you couldn’t make it to Cochise’s recent sold-out solo tour, fear not – he’ll be headed out to support Aminé’s “Best Tour Ever” in 2022. If you’re a new fan of the artist, be sure to check out “Tell Em” featuring $NOT, or August’s solo release, “POCKET ROCKET.”

Rick Ross Praises Benny The Butcher As One Of Rap’s Next Up

We are now less than a week away from Rick Ross’ upcoming album Richer Than I Ever Been, which is set to drop on Dec. 10. Rozay released the official tracklist this morning (Dec. 4), which will include guest appearances from 21 Savage, Jazmine Sullivan, The-Dream, Wale and others.

The album’s second promotional single, “Little Havana (feat. Willie Falcon & The-Dream)” was released Friday (Dec. 3). The first single released was “Outlawz” with 21 Savage and Jazmine Sullivan, dropped in mid-November.

Last night, Rick Ross held a listening party for the ten-song album with special attendees like DJ Khaled, DJ Akademiks, Dream Doll and Timbaland. A snippet of the album’s third song “Rapper Estates” with Benny The Butcher was revealed as he spits bars like “I’m really in the field, you just Skip Bayless.” After the song played, Ross shared some words about Benny, and gushed about his talent and potential: “For the culture, it’s only right for an artist in my position to make sure I hand that baton off to a younger dude. I feel like Benny The Butcher is one of the ones that I really feel is next up.”

Benny’s had a stellar 2021 campaign, which included him dropping three projects, The Plugs I Met 2, Trust the Sopranos and Pyrex Picasso, as well as inking a deal with Def Jam.

Ross and Benny will surely put on a great performance on their collaborative track, which will be included on next week’s album.

Check out what Rozay had to say about Benny The Butcher below.

Ari Lennox Says She’s ‘Not OK’ After The ‘Racism And Discrimination’ She Experienced In Amsterdam

What was supposed to be a regular trip to Amsterdam took a turn for the worst when Ari Lennox was arrested after an incident at the city’s Schiphol Airport. The singer claimed she was detained “for reacting to a woman racially profiling me” and she shared more details about the matter as it unfolded in a string of posts on Twitter. According to Reuters, Dutch military police accused Lennox of public intoxication and being aggressive to a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines official. “Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down,” a spokesperson said. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”

A few days after the incident, Lennox returned to Twitter with an update. “Hey loves I’m safe,” she wrote in a tweet. “Thank you so much for your prayers and love.” Today she shared additional thoughts on her arrest, which were not as comforting. “My only regret is my reaction to the racism and discrimination I experienced,” she wrote in a tweet. “I would like to explain what happened to me but KLM has made it clear that they never cared to hear it from jump. It’s painful being silenced like this. It’s painful what I went through. I’m not ok.”

This comes after she and Smino joined Khalid for their new collaboration, “Scenic Drive.”
