Megan Thee Stallion Explains How Queen Latifah Inspired Her As An ‘All-Around Businesswoman’

In a new interview for Glamour magazine, Megan Thee Stallion reveals one of the influences behind her refined business sense: Queen Latifah, who showed Meg that she could be multiple things in addition to one of rap’s modern-day queens.

“Queen Latifah is amazing,” Meg tells Glamour‘s Zandria Robinson. “She is all around someone I look up to because she took it further than music. She’s an all-around businesswoman who lets me know I can like more than one thing, and I can pursue more than one thing.”

Among the things Meg is currently pursuing is a degree in health administration from Texas Southern after switching from nursing and business. She recently completed all the coursework for her graduation this year and previously showed off her graduation cap on social media.“I’m making A’s now; I’m focused,” she says.

Meg also explains why she’s become such an outspoken advocate for women’s rights — especially Black women — to the point of using her 2020 SNL performance to call to “protect Black women” despite backlash from both fans and politicians. “The bigger I get, the bigger my platform gets, I start realizing that I’m not the only woman that goes through what I go through, and it doesn’t matter what scale it’s on,” she says. “Mine is just public because I’m a public figure. I want to bring things to light so other women don’t feel like they have to continue to be silent.”

Kim Kardashian Returns To New York As Pete Davidson Dating Rumours Fly

It’s been a busy few days for Kim Kardashian West. Last weekend, the mother of four caused dating rumours to run rampant when she was spotted holding hands with Pete Davidson at Knott’s Scary Farm in California. Days later, the reality star has flown across the country to New York, where she’s expected to be for the next few days.

According to Page Six, KKW’s main reason for a trip to the big apple to attend WSJ Magazine’s 11th annual Innovator Awards, which took place last night at the Museum of Modern Art. The SKIMS creator was honoured, alongside other VIPs like Ryan Reynolds, Lil Nas X, Lewis Hamilton, and Colton Whitehead.

Also on the list of honourees is Fendi’s creative director, Kim Jones, who Kardashian West recently collaborated with for a project of her own. During the event, the socialite nearly suffered a fashion faux pas when her dress came unzipped, but luckily, Jones had her back, saving her from her so-called “fashion emergency.”

Davidson may not have attended the Innovator Awards, but the article notes that he’s likely back in New York City by now as well. The comedian reportedly has weekly pitch meetings with other Saturday Night Live writers and stars in Lorne Michaels‘ office. It could be a total coincidence that the two stars are in the same city, or we could see more photos of them together before the week is up – only time will tell.

In the past, the King of Staten Island actor has been linked to plenty of high profile women including Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, and Phoebe Dynevor. When the rollercoaster photos when viral, sources told PEOPLE that the two were “just friends,” but that hasn’t stopped the internet from speculating.

Do you think that Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian will have another PDA moment this week? Let us know in the comments.

Kodak Black Follows Kevin Gates’ Lead, Says He’s Doing “No Nut November”

Kodak Black is taking a page out of Kevin Gates’ book, telling fans that he will be participating in “No Nut November” for the next thirty days. This comes after Gates revealed during an interview that he practices semen retention to improve his overall physical and mental health.

“Another thing I wanna talk about that’s really healing to your body, this is gonna sound crazy, is semen retention. Not releasing no semen,” said Gates last week on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. “You need to have sex, you can have sex, but your intention should be to please your partner. And don’t release no semen. If you feel like you’re about to release, stop. And it’s gonna heal your central nervous system and everything.”

Kodak Black must have been tuned into Gates’ interview because he’s co-signing the message, telling his Twitter followers that he’s on the same wavelength for the next thirty days, participating in an internet trend called “No Nut November,” where men challenge themselves not to ejaculate for the duration of the month.

“#SemenRetention All Next Month,” tweeted Kodak on Sunday. “#NoNutNovember Saving My Life Source & Not Wasting My Energy On Foolishness, Changing Fa The Better Completely Starting Tomorrow.”

What do you think of Kodak’s challenge? Despite what Gates and Yak are saying, “No Nut November” can actually be pretty bad for you, as a Harvard University study determined that men who masturbate regularly have less of a risk of developing prostate cancer. So maybe it’s not the best idea to join Kodak along this ride?

DJ Stud Doogie Of Brand Nubian Dead After Battle With Diabetes: Report

Hip-hop’s widespread and decades-long history has its upsides and downsides. The toughest part of being a fan of the genre is seeing your beloved artists and figures move on from this life.

Over the Halloween weekend, we lost DJ Stud Doogie, member of the 1990s influential rap group Brand Nubian. One of the group’s emcees Lord Jamar took to Instagram to make the official announcement of his death writing: “It is with great sadness that I announce, our Brand Nubian Brother, Stud Doogie, has transitioned. He had a long bout with diabetes & fought like a soldier…we thank you for your service. R.I.P. Stud Doogie.”

In the photo, Stud Doogie is seen with the late iconic actor Michael K. Williams, who passed earlier this year in September.

Brand Nubian’s rise to fame was bolstered by the success of their 1990 debut album One For All. When lead emcee Grand Puba left Brand Nubian in 1992, DJ Stud Doogie would embark on his solo career with him. Stud Doogie aided both Grand Puba and Brand Nubian in fruitful careers.

Many others involved in the 1990s hip-hop scene mourned Stud Doogie’s loss, including producer Pete Rock, who was instrumental in cultivating the jazz influenced sound of that era of rap. As he posted a photo of Stud Doogie to Instagram he wrote: “He was fighting to live, alotta ups n downs. Imma miss you king. Nuff sessions in the basement king wow. Stud Doogie 4ever. Death of my people is outta control. R.I.P. My dude smh.”

Famed producer and friend 9th Wonder also chimed in, tweeting that he had just been with Stud Doogie the week prior: “Rest In Power Stud Doogie. Man…….I just saw him last week….”

It is clear DJ Stud Doogie left a major impact on the lives of his peers.

Southwest T Reacts To BMF Halloween Costumes

One of the most exciting new shows on television right now is the 50 Cent executive produced-BMF. The tales of the rise of Big Meech and Southwest T from the streets of Detroit offered a glimpse into a world that isn’t represented on television. The Black Mafia Family became folklores of the streets whose legacies are carried by word of mouth. STARZ already ordered a second season of the show just as the first one began. The legends of Big Meech and Southwest T ascend into pop culture, which made them the inspiration behind plenty of Halloween costumes this year. Plenty of kids decided to dress up as the Detroit legends, though it seems that Southwest T is hesitant to fully embrace the homages.

The BMF co-founder went to Instagram this weekend where he shared his thoughts on the numerous costumes of himself and his brother. He expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment but he would rather the kids aspire to be more like the people that play their characters on BMF rather than the real-life inspiration behind them. “Woke up to this after my nap I’m humbly honored as I know my brother would be,” he wrote. “My advice to both these young men @shannywoods13 is to be better than bruh and I and more like @davinchi @lilmeechbmf God forever bless everyone.”

He doubled down on his suggestion in a subsequent post where he shared even more costumes of the BMF characters and called for Big Meech’s freedom. “Wow,” he continued. “Once again my spirit was moved I truly appreciate the support. @imkiziah I wish my brother was here to see this. Young men I truly want everyone to make wiser and better choices than my brother and I once made. To God be all the glory and praise. #freedemetriusflenory.”

Southwest T was released from prison last year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, Big Meech is still behind bars but he did receive some good news that his sentence would be reduced by 36 months.

President Joe Biden Seemingly Fell Asleep In A Meeting, Trump Won’t Let Him Hear The End Of It

Donald Trump may be banned from most social media platforms, but the former President has still found a way to get his messages out to the public. Over the past few days, President Joe Biden has been in Europe attending COP26 meetings, and a video that appears to show him nodding off while listening to speakers has surfaced, prompting Trump to share some choice words.

“Even Biden couldn’t stand hearing so much about the Global Warming Hoax, the 7th biggest Hoax in America, followed closely behind by the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2 and, of course, the ‘No Collusion’ finding of the Mueller Report,” the New York native reportedly said in a statement.

As Newsweek reports, a video that’s been flying around Twitter shows Biden closing his eyes for several seconds while seated in the audience. The President briefly opens them, then closes them again for roughly 22 seconds until a staffer steps up to him to say something.

It remains unclear if Biden actually dosed off during the United Nations meeting, but his former opponent certainly wants people to think so. “Biden went to Europe saying Global Warming is his highest priority, and then promptly fell asleep, for all the world to see, at the Conference itself,” the reality star’s statement continued. “Nobody that has true enthusiasm and belief in a subject will ever fall asleep!”

When it was his turn to speak at the summit, the 78-year-old threw some shade of his own Trump’s way by apologizing for “the last administration” deciding to back out of the Paris climate accord. Biden promised that, under his leadership, the current administration won’t “condemn future generations to suffering.

Saweetie Teases A New Song, ‘Get It Girl,’ In Her Beats By Dre Ad

Saweetie’s brand continues to grow, adding another new partnership to her ever-expanding compilation of them. Her latest big-money team-up is with Beats By Dre; Saweetie appears in the latest campaign for the noise-canceling Beats Fit Pro headphones arriving this Friday, November 5. In addition, she contributes a new song, “Get It Girl,” which plays over the ad. She struts the streets of LA with the headphones on, tuning out the world with the noise-canceling turned all the way up.

In addition to Beats By Dre, Saweetie’s growing portfolio of brand collaborations includes work with Crocs, with whom she’s partnered on a campaign promoting new Hidden Valley Ranch-themed jibbitz, and McDonald’s, where Saweetie put her viral snack tendencies to work coming up with oddball food combinations and Icy-branded merch. Saweetie also hosts the Netflix comedy special Sex: Unzipped alongside a plethora of horny, sex positive puppets.

Hopefully, Saweetie’s extracurricular activities won’t cause any further delays to her debut album, though. She says it’s finished and teased that something will “unfold during the holidays,” so perhaps we’ll be hearing more new music from Saweetie very soon — no commercial needed.

Cardi B Will Bring Her Big Personality To Host The 2021 AMAs

Over the years Cardi B has become as well-known for her boisterous personality as her club-friendly music. According to Billboard, she’ll soon apply that personality to the task of hosting the upcoming American Music Awards. The show, which will air live on Sunday, November 21 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, has been kind to Cardi since her 2017 breakthrough with “Bodak Yellow,” giving her five wins at previous shows along with three nominations this year. She also performed “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin at the 2018 AMAs.

In a statement, Cardi said, “When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited. I’m ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage! Thank you to Jesse Collins, ABC, and MRC for making this happen.” Cardi’s selection makes her the fourth Black woman to host the AMAs in five consecutive years. In 2017-18, the show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross; in 2019, Ciara took over hosting duties; and last year’s show was MC’d by none other than Taraji P. Henson.

The nominees, which were announced last Thursday, include Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd, who are all nominated for Artist Of The Year, while the show’s host Cardi B is nominated for Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist alongside Coi Leray, Erica Banks, Megan Thee Stallion, and Saweetie.

The 2021 American Music Awards will air live at 8:00 pm ET on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu. You can still vote for various awards here.

MoneyBagg Yo Says He’s Putting A Community Center On The Land Ari Fletcher Gifted Him

Back in September, it was revealed that Ari Fletcher had gifted her boyfriend, rapper MoneyBagg Yo, 28 acres of land in his native Memphis, Tennessee.

And despite rude comments from the hosts of daytime talk show The Real, who insinuated Fletcher made a mistake by purchasing the land before she was engaged or married, it looks like MoneyBagg is prepared to move forward with plans involving the 28 acre swatch.

Tweeting, “First thing I’m putting on my land is a community center for my hood,” the “Switches & Dracs” rapper made his intentions for his new land clear. He wants to give back to his community, and a brand-new community center is one of the best ways to do it.

MoneyBagg Yo has had one of the biggest 2021s in all of hip-hop. Between the releases of A Gangsta’s Pain and A Gangsta’s Pain: Reloaded, the 30-year-old rapper has released a ton of great music, and has played a pivotal role in putting Memphis hip-hop back on the map.

Along with the likes of Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, Key Glock, Pooh Shiesty and a handful of others, Memphis is in the midst of a legitimate rap renaissance, and MoneyBagg is arguably the most important piece of the entire puzzle. His growing reach as a musician is what will allow him to continue to give back to the city, as he tweeted he would, and the community center he plans to build on his new land is just the beginning.

Like Young Thug plans to do with his 100-acre Slime City project in Atlanta, MoneyBagg Yo wants to provide the resources and the support to his home community. How fast he plans on getting underway with the establishment and construction of a new community center is unclear, but it is clear that he had a desire to build up the neighborhood he grew up and it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
