Project Pat Explains “Knife Talk” Origins & Says Drake’s Dad Is Untouchable In Memphis

Project Pat makes an appearance on the latest Drake album, Certified Lover Boy, opening up the highlight song “Knife Talk” with 21 Savage. During a recent interview, the Three 6 Mafia co-founder spoke about how the song came together, and why Drake’s father is untouchable in Memphis.

While speaking about “Knife Talk,” Pat revealed it was an older song that Metro Boomin passed onto Drake after it was allegedly supposed to appear on 21 Savage’s album. When Drake got the record in his hands, he called Project Pat and gave him the “Drake blessing” to hop on and do his thing.

Pat also spoke about Drake’s ties to his hometown, explaining that his father is always out in Memphis, and if you touch him, you’ll be facing some serious repercussions.

“I mess with Drake’s daddy, man,” said the iconic rapper. “OG, he be downtown kickin’ it. Look — and the gangstas — ain’t nothing gon’ happen to him. Nothin’. Ain’t nobody ‘gon mess with Drake’s daddy, bruh. Nobody, man. No, you gon’ get flatlined. They don’t play that because, see, Drake show too much love down here.”

Pat says that when out-of-towners show that loyalty to Memphis, they get special treatment because the city doesn’t get love like that.

US Government Will Reportedly Run Out Of Money Next Month

The United States Government is likely about to go into deep debt, according to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. On Tuesday, Yellen warned lawmakers that the federal government is going to run out of money by October 18, 2021, if nothing is changed to increase the debt calling by Congress.

This news, which has been reported by CNN and other sources, would be disastrous, damaging the economy significantly and delaying payments to millions of Americans

“It is uncertain whether we could continue to meet all the nation’s commitments after that date,” said Yellen in a letter.

The October 18 deadline is simply an estimate for right now, but it comes after the average daily governmental cash flow reached over $50 billion this past year.

“It is important to remember that estimates regarding how long our remaining extraordinary measures and cash may last can unpredictably shift forward or backward,” said Yellen. “This uncertainty underscores the critical importance of not waiting to raise or suspend the debt limit. The full faith and credit of the United States should put at risk.”

This is pretty serious news, and some people are asking why the government can’t simply print more money. Of course, that’s just not how the world works. We will keep you updated as this story develops.

Jada Pinkett & Willow Smith Considered Getting BBLs

The summer of the BBL has extended into the fall and Jada Pinkett and Willow Smith are in on the hype.

In a Page Six report, an upcoming episode of Pinkett and Smith’s infamous Red Table Talks touches on the subject of butt lifts and, more specifically, Brazilian Butt Lifts aka, the BBL.

“I’m glad we’re here talking about this today, the BBLs, because I was considering getting one,” Jada reportedly told her mother and co-host, Adrienne Banfield-Norris and Smith, her daughter.

Smith, who said rumors swirled about her backside, considered the procedure, too.

“I considered getting the tiniest little bit,” the “transparentsoul” singer said.

Despite neither Pinkett, 50, or Smith, 20, undergoing the procedure, Smith said that she “got in the gym” to get the results she wanted but still “people thought (she) got surgery.”

Amidst candid conversation between a mother and daughter both stuck in the limelight, Banfield-Norris added that unrealistic standards created pressure for women to look a certain way, even it it means achieving that through surgergy.

“You know it’s all about youth, so for somebody like me, the struggle has been extremely real,” she said. “Like I’ve had Botox, then you get to the point where how much you’re gonna do, but then it almost becomes addictive.”

The BBL conversation has been an interesting one and with the endless cycle of rumors about who-has-undergone-which-procedures-and-who-hasn’t, two women like Pinkett and Smith adding their voices and considerations to the operation are sure to maintain the BBL buzz.

What do you think of Jada and Willow admitting they considered getting BBLs? Let us know in the comments.

Lil Nas X Thinks He Would Never Have Come Out If ‘Old Town Road’ Wasn’t So Successful

In a new interview with XXL, Lil Nas X recounts coming out in the wake of the success of his hit song “Old Town Road,” calling it a “duty” to represent other queer people within hip-hop. He previously called the making of his song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” therapeutic for him after coming out, which he tells XXL is something he would not have done had “Old Town Road” not been so popular and successful.

“I don’t think I would have ever came out,” he says. “I honestly felt like it was kind of my duty. Especially if I wanted to move forward. And what I was doing, because authenticity is very real, and I feel like people can see right through that. And that’s a part of me.”

His reluctance is understandable. While his announcement was greeted with plenty of acceptance, there were also those who rejected him — as he rightly predicted they would when he refused to admit to being a Nicki Minaj stan. Almost immediately, he faced backlash from other famous figures. He was forced to check Kevin Hart on The Shop over Hart’s old homophobic bits, while in the wake of his success, he’s had to field knee-jerk reactions from other rappers like Dave East, Joyner Lucas, and Boosie Badazz, while shutting down Twitter commenters who claim he’s “being gay for success.”

Nas also had a hard time recruiting other rappers to feature on his debut album Montero, telling a fan on Twitter, “maybe they didn’t want to work with me.” Fortunately, he’s got others on his side such as Kid Cudi, who believes Nas will “break down” the “cloud of homophobia” stifling hip-hop simply by being an example to the youth who might feel left out right now.

Don Toliver Announces The Release Date Of His New Project, ‘Life Of A Don’

Houston rapper Don Toliver has had a relatively eventful two years. While most of the entertainment industry was shut down over the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cactus Jack Records product toiled away, building on the buzz he’d accumulated since appearing on his mentor Travis Scott’s 2018 album Astroworld. In addition to popping up on Eminem’s “No Regrets” early in 2020, Toliver dropped his debut album Heaven Or Hell, then featured on projects from Nav, Kaash Paige, Nas, and Rico Nasty, the F9 soundtrack, and on the runaway Internet Money smash, “Lemonade” with Gunna.

Now, he’s set to capitalize on all that hard work with the release of his second album, Life Of A Don. After teasing the project on Twitter earlier this year, Toliver finally shared the release date, October 8, via a grandiose trailer featuring a pair of ballroom dancers onstage in an empty, elegantly appointed theatre.

In addition to the trailer, Toliver has teased the future release with a handful of singles including “What You Need,” “Drugs N Hella Melodies” with Kali Uchis, and “Don’t Go” with Justin Bieber and Skrillex. He’s currently on tour through October 30 with BIA, which means fans on the back end of the tour may well get the opportunity to hear the new album live after its release.

L.O.A.D. (Life Of A Don) is due 10/8 through Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records.

Don Toliver is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

LeBron James Claims He Was Offered Multiple NFL Contracts During NBA Lockout

LeBron James has long talked about his time as a high school football player.

Reminding everybody, on multiple occasions, that he was the real-deal as a St. Vincent St. Mary’s football player until he broke his wrist and transitioned into a full-time basketball player, LBJ has always boasted about his football prowess and has even joked about taking his talents from the hardwood to the gridiron.

With the exception of some blurry highlight tapes and footage of a couple charity flag football games, there had never really been any *legitimate* conversation about the prospect of LeBron James playing in the NFL.

But last night, during the Manning brothers’ secondary broadcast of Monday Night Football, James hopped on with the massive revelation that he had been offered multiple NFL contracts during the NBA’s 2011 lockout.

“Jerry Jones offered me a contract … Pete Carroll did as well,” LeBron said, noting that he still had the Cowboys and Seahawks jerseys he had received with his contract offers. “It definitely got my blood flowing again. Got my mind racing again thinking about the game of football, being out there on Sundays.”

Obviously it never happened and LeBron has evolved into one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but according to the man himself, the idea of football wasn’t too far-fetched.

“We were able to get a deal done in the NBA and I was back on the court in no time, but I definitely thought about it,” the 36-year-old Los Angeles Laker said.

LeBron had some more comments about his time playing football, including a jab at his high school quarterback, but Twitter was stuck on King James’ claims he thought of switching sports.

Do you think LeBron could make it in the NFL? Let us know in the comments.
