Lil Wayne’s “Used 2” Is A “Carter V” Standout 3 Years Later

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V isn’t exactly a “throwback” in the truest sense. Yet if fans go by how long they waited for Weezy’s fifth Carter drop, it feels like the project has been existing for an eternity. Today, Tha Carter V officially turns three, prompting a new conversation about where the album ranks in the context of the series.

While it’s unlikely that a clear consensus will be reached on that front, one thing is certain — “Used 2” remains an underrated highlight, one that all too often flies under the radar due to its late placement on the tracklist. Produced by the united efforts of Infamous, Prince 85 & Metro Boomin, the dark track provides Wayne ample space to unleash some incredible and violent bars. “I remember you, I was never into you,” he raps, his cadence locked in a feral frenzy. “I tell my shooters, shoot you and whoever resemble you / and every member who had been a friend of you or kin to you.”

With Tha Carter V continuing to age gracefully, how do you feel about the album three years later?

Quotable Lyrics

Your blood all over the scene, it look like red cheap wine
I’m smoking on a key lime, you look like tea time
Look like honey to my beehive, I close your sweet eyes
Shoot ya in ya head, give ya ass three eyes
And you still ain’t seen a fucking thing until you C5
I remember you, I was never into you
I tell my shooters, shoot you and whoever resemble you
And every member who had been a friend of you or kin to you

Ronda Rousey Announces Birth Of Baby Girl

Former UFC and WWE star Ronda Rousey announced the birth of a baby girl, Monday, September 27. Rousey and her husband Travis Browne received many congratulations from fans across the internet, as they introduced their newborn daughter to the world, with a post simply captioned, “La’akea Makalapuaokalanipo Browne.” The post also shared two heartfelt images of baby La’akea’s tiny hand resting on each of her parents’ chests.

Rousey originally left the WWE back in April of 2019, shortly after having surgery on a broken hand following Wrestlemania 35.

That April, Rousey announced on social media that she and Browne would be taking an “impregnation vacation,” posting that specific caption along with a photo of her and Browne kissing. This post confirmed an earlier report from The Wrestling Observer that Rousey had previously disputed. In January, The Wrestling Observer reported that Rousey would be taking a leave of absence after Wrestlemania 35, to focus on trying to start a family with Browne, a UFC fighter himself.

Rousey took exception to outside speculation back in 2019, telling ESPN, “I honestly don’t know why [anyone] feels like [they’re] an authority to speak on the plans for my uterus.” She continued, “I really don’t feel like I should have to respond to that kind of thing. It’s my vagina, my life, keep the speculations to yourself. Leave me and my reproductive organs alone.”

Today, Rousey is able to share and celebrate her newly growing family with the world, while the speculation has finally been put to rest. View her Instagram share below.

We’re sending our warm congratulations to the budding family.

21 Savage Explains Why He Wouldn’t Have Worked On Kanye West’s “DONDA”

The long-standing feud between Kanye West and Drake has practically been at a stand-still since both rappers released their respective projects. As predicted, Drake outsold the sh*t out of Kanye West in the first week of Certified Lover Boy’s release which included a stand-out performance from 21 Savage. Drake and 21’s relationship goes back to the days of the first Savage Mode but even as Savage’s stock has grown, he appears willing to turn down massive opportunities to stand on his loyalty.

21 was the latest guest on Akademiks’ Off The Record. As you can imagine, Drake ended up being a topic of discussion. We previously reported 21’s take on the Canadian rapper’s status as an artist in Atlanta but he also offered his two cents on the ongoing feud between Drake and Kanye. The rapper explained that, unlike Post Malone, there’s a bit more politics at play if he decides to jump on a song with someone.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to be on Donda if I’m going to be on CLB,” said 21. “Me, personally. That’s just the type of n***a I am.”

Akademiks pushed back, claiming that 21 Savage wouldn’t have actually turned down the opportunity to work with Kanye. Ak’s co-host observed that 21’s kryptonite is loyalty.

“I’m talkin’ ’bout when n***as get smoked behind shit… That’s why I said the Donda and CLB shit, I was probably exaggerating a little bit but I fuck with Drake so hard… I don’t know.”

Kanye West’s New Yeezys Sell Out Immediately Despite Most People Hating Them

As expected, Kanye West’s latest creation, the Yeezy Knit RNR “Sulfur,” has sold out immediately after being sold exclusively by Yeezy Supply. Despite the initial reaction to the sneakers, which wasn’t anywhere near positive with sneakerheads comparing the design to banana peels or empanadas, we all knew that the shoes would sell out, but now staggering numbers are coming out showing just how many people were actually laughing at them, and it’s an eye-opener.

According to a study conducted by The Sole Supplier, which used a social listening and sentiment tool to compile data, a whopping 83% of Yeezy fans were laughing at the Yeezy Knit RNR “Sulfur” after it was unveiled. An additional 2% of folks were angry about the design. Finally, 6% of social media reactions were positive for these kicks, meaning that there is some light for Ye.

The study adds that this could arguably be Kanye’s “most laughed at creation yet” and that the autumn-ready sneakers could continue to fetch high resale prices on StockX, eBay, and elsewhere. Though they were sold for $200 on Kanye’s website, current prices are reaching almost $1,000 in most resale markets. So, perhaps, this is the reaction that Ye wanted all along?

Did you manage to get your hands on a pair of these? Let us know what you think of the Yeezy Knit RNR “Sulfur.”

Snoop Dogg Impresses In “One-Second Rap Songs” Game With Jimmy Fallon

It’s no surprise that Snoop Dogg has assembled an encyclopedic knowledge of hip-hop throughout his experience in the rap game; after all, he’s been active since the early nineties, having collaborated with rappers in damn near every city and coast.

Now, the legendary artist had the chance to show off the extent of his trivia chops, partaking in an impressive game of “One-Second Rap Songs” with Jimmy Fallon. The premise is simple — Fallon queues up one second of a rap song, and Snoop is left guessing the song in question. “Who thought of this damn show, Jimmy?” laughs Snoop, putting on his game face.

The first one poses no challenge, as Snoop ably identifies “C.R.E.A.M” by the Wu-Tang Clan. His streak continues as he guesses “O.P.P” by Naughty By Nature, an impressive display to be sure. Third time might be the easiest yet, as Snoop recognizes Warren G and Nate Dogg’s classic “Regulate” while pondering why they thought that would be enough to stump him.

Lastly, Jimmy trims the time limit to a quarter of a second; though Snoop’s brow furrows, it’s unlikely that he feels even remotely concerned given his ease with the previous questions. As the quarter-second snippet loads up, Snoop is still able to rise to the occasion — though unsurprisingly, given that the song in question is one of his many classic records.

In addition to wowing Jimmy with his knowledge — though let’s be honest, the game could have probably been ramped up to a higher difficulty setting — Snoop also confirmed that his upcoming album Algorithm would be landing in November. Check out his conversation with Jimmy Fallon below, and sound off if you’re keen on a new project from The Doggfather.

ESPN Removes Jay Williams From “NBA Countdown”

ESPN is undergoing a massive overhaul of its basketball coverage.

Since audio of long-time NBA reporter and The Jump host, Rachel Nichols, using disparaging language while talking about former ESPN employee, Maria Taylor, surfaced a couple months ago, the network has been scrambling to solve their basketball issue.

Removing Nichols from NBA Finals coverage and cancelling The Jump, ESPN hoped to keep Taylor aboard for basketball and football coverage, but she moved onto NBC, leaving Malika Andrews to fill in during the Finals, which ultimately let to the announcement of Andrews’ own show.

Today, the network continued the shake up of their NBA coverage by removing longtime analyst and former Duke Blue Devil, Jay Williams, from his position on NBA Countdown, ESPN’s pregame, postgame and halftime show.

Williams had been a co-host, but according to reports, his duties between NBA Countdown and his morning radio show “stretched him thin last season and possibly contributed to ESPN’s decision.”

Williams’ co-host and fellow former NBA player, Jalen Rose, is reportedly up in the air about his position with NBA Countdown and, based on his strong advocacy for Taylor following Nichols’ comments, it would not be a surprise for Rose to leave (or be removed from) the position behind.

According to the same report that revealed Williams’ removal from NBA Countdown, “Stephen A. Smith, Magic Johnson, and Michael Wilbon are reportedly among the leading candidates,” to fill the position but a replacement has yet to be chosen.

The same goes for Taylor’s position as host of NBA CountdownSportsCenter hosts Michael Eaves and Elle Duncan have reportedly been in the mix for the position but, like with Williams’ vacancy, a replacement has yet to be chosen.

What do you think of Williams’ departure from NBA Countdown? Who would you like to see as his replacement? Let us know in the comments.

50 Cent’s “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” Brings In Big Bucks For Starz

You can not deny the impact of 50 Cent. As a rapper, he did astronomical numbers that few have been able to replicate. Even when he lost the sales battle to Kanye West in 2007, his album, Curtis still moved north of 700K units — and that’s before streaming. These days, his ability to push products is geared towards his ventures in film and television. This past weekend, Starz debuted season 1 of BMF — one of the most anticipated series of the year.

BMF comes after the success of 50 Cent’s Power universe series including the most recent launch of Raising Kanan. During a presentation on Lionsgate financial quarter, the CEO of the company, Jon Feltheimer, revealed that Raising Kanan helped bring nearly 1M subscribers to Starz within its first week.

We continue to grow our base of international subscribers in the quarter, but domestic subscribers declined, a temporary drop that we have already reversed since the end of the quarter. In fact, two weeks after the quarter ended, Power Book III: Raising Kanan debut to the second biggest Starz original series premiere ever, driving over 800,000 global subscriber gross ads in the first week alone and an 80% spike in viewership on the app.”

Overall, Starz is at 30M subscribers overall. Fif previously inked a $150M deal with Starz in 2018 for a four-year deal. Clearly, this is working out for both Fif and Starz.

Cardi B Looks Stunning In First Post-Baby Photos

Cardi B has seemingly been working her tail off with her trainer after giving birth to her second child a few weeks ago, and she’s already looking like she’s ready to get back to business. On Tuesday, the rapper attended a Paris Fashion Week event for Thierry Mugler, posing for her first-post-baby pictures and looking absolutely stunning.

“MUGLER MAMI,” wrote Cardi B on Instagram, captioning her photos from Tuesday’s event. The “WAP” rapper wore an elaborate red dress with large feathered accessories.

“WOW,” wrote Chlöe Bailey, who recently joined the rapper for the new episode of Cardi Tries, on the photos. “You gone kill it everytime,” said rising rapper KenTheMan. And, of course, Offset could be found in the comments too, sharing a trio of heart-eyed emojis.

Considering the fact that Cardi B gave birth to her second baby at the beginning of this month, it’s impressive that she’s already comfortable enough to step out in full glam. Fans are excited about her return to the timeline, while still offering their congratulatory messages on the new addition to her family.

Nicki Minaj Confirms Her Next Collab Will Be With Former Little Mix Star Jesy Nelson

After dropping the 2020 album Confetti, Little Mix‘s Jesy Nelson announced she was officially parting ways as a member of the girl group. The singer, who formed Little Mix on The X-Factor in 2011, after feeling the “constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.” But it looks like Nelson already has plans to jump start her solo career — and it’s with a very high-profile collaboration.

It all started when Nelson cleared all the posts on her Instagram feed and posted a teaser vaguely promising a “new chapter” for the musician. On Tuesday, Nelson returned to preview what exactly she has in store for her new chapter, and it involves a joint track called “Boyz” with none other than Nicki Minaj.

Nelson and Minaj both shared some behind-the-scenes footage of a dance practice. The end of the clip features a snippet of Minaj in a faux British accent rapping the hook: “It’s the UK baddie and the Barbie.” “Do you think they’re ready for this?” Nelson asked Minaj in the teaser’s caption.

Neither Nelson nor Minaj have offered insight into when “Boyz” is expected to see a release. But the song’s announcement arrives shortly after Minaj made her first public appearance in over two years on stage at Lil Baby’s LA tour stop. Minaj returned to the stage to perform her verses from “Seeing Green” and BIA’s “Whole Lotta Money” remix.

Rick Ross Must Pay $11,000 In Child Support To The Mother Of Three Of His Kids

Rick Ross is a man of means, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to save money. Recently the “Rich Forever” rapper revealed that he even mows his own lawn — despite it being huge — to cut down on monthly expenses. It’s a good thing, too, because he just got hit with a new monthly bill that would have some crying poor. According to TMZ, Ross must pay $11,000 a month to the mother of three of his children, Briana Singleton.

In addition, he also agreed to pay $25,000 for Singleton’s attorney in the dispute, along with health insurance and extracurricular activities, which could add up to around $7,500. He may also be required to add annual payments for up to $3,000 per child. However, with an income listed by TMZ at about $585,000/month, the “biggest boss that you’ve seen thus far” shouldn’t be set back too much.

In any event, at least one of his kids (he has four, three with Singleton) likely won’t be needing it in the future. For his son William’s 16th birthday, Ross signed over one of his Wingstop franchises, making the teen a young boss in his own right. Meanwhile, while the younger William just became eligible to get his driver’s license, the elder one only just got his own, despite owning over 100 cars.
