Megan Thee Stallion Goes Off On Blogs: “Black Ran Blogs Talk The Most S**t”

Megan Thee Stallion has been buried in a back and forth cold war between herself and Tory Lanez for some time now. The acrimony started after Lanez allegedly shot Meg in the foot, causing the former to almost get canceled. However, Lanez has been able to survive an industry ban because of the strength of his streaming numbers. Fans still love his music, and that’s the one thing keeping Lanez afloat right now.

Those on Megan’s side claim that Lanez is getting out of hand. He appears to be less caring about the gag order that is supposed to stop him from talking about the incident before the case is settled. Meanwhile, Meg has distanced herself from those that are supporting Lanez’s career. For instance, Meg and DaBaby had a falling out after the latter began collaborating with Lanez.

While all this has been going on, the media has been reporting on every detail that becomes available pertaining to the case. It seems like an overwhelming amount of media sites are on Megan’s side, but she has noticed one core group that she feels isn’t giving her respect. “Black ran blogs talk the most shit abt me … but protect black women tho,” she tweeted. Do you think Black-owned blogs are tougher on Meg?

Chicago Rapper Edai Reportedly Shot & Killed

It truly is unfortunate and sad just how many young men are losing their lives in the hip-hop world. Chicago rapper Edai. was shot multiple times in the back and killed on Saturday night (July 31) or the early hours of Sunday morning (Aug. 1). Edai was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Edai is praised for helping to bring the Chicago drill scene to life along with Chief Keef. Edai broke through in 2021 after his single “Gucci” gained some commercial relevance. Soon after, Edai started his own record label Team 600 ENT, and released his solo album Came From Nothing in February 2014.

The mother of slain Chicago rapper FBG Duck took to social media to vent about the violence in her city. “EVERYBODY GOTTA DIEEEEEE DAMNN NORMALIZE GROWIN UP N BEING A GRANDDADDY TO YALL KIDS CHILDREN,” she wrote angrily. “TELL THEM HOW U SURVIVED THE TRENCHES SO THEY CAN WANT BETTER @koopa600 U GOOD NO MORE WORRIES NOR PAIN FOR GOD WAS READY FOR HIS CHILD BACK.”

Edai’s death comes within days of the murder of Gonzoe, a Tupac and Ice Cube affiliate. Since the shooting of Pop Smoke last year, there have been a ridiculous number of slain rappers. Crime seems to be going up. RIP Edai.

Andre Iguodala To Become Free Agent, Could Join Lakers

Andre Iguodala is one of the most respected veterans in the entire league and after winning three championships with the Golden State Warriors, he is still hungry for more glory. Back in 2020, Iguodala got the chance to join the Miami Heat, where he ended up going to his sixth-straight NBA Finals. Unfortunately for Iguodala, he was unable to win as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Heat in six games. In 2021, Iguodala worked hard to keep things going although the Heat got bounced in the first round by the eventual champions.

Heading into next season, Iguodala still had a $15 million team option left on his contract, and Heat fans were wondering whether or not they would accept it. Of course, the team is looking to sign Kyle Lowry and in order to do that, they need all of the cap space they can get.

Today, it was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that the Heat would decline the team option which ultimately makes Iguodala a free agent as of tomorrow. This is big news for the rest of the NBA as the veteran can sign wherever he wants. According to LA Times reporter Arash Markazi, there is a good chance Iggy signs with the Los Angeles Lakers on a veteran minimum as he is good friends with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka.

Numerous veteran players have been linked to the Lakers including Carmelo Anthony and even Dwight Howard. The Lakers need some depth on their roster, and veteran minimums might be the wave for them throughout the offseason.

Lil Nas X Had A Sarcastic Thank You After The ‘Montero’ Video Reached A New And Dubious Milestone On YouTube

A few months ago, Lil Nas X released “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and its accompanying music video, both of which sent the industry into chaos. From the Satan Shoes that were released with it, the images of hell in the video, and the singer dancing with the devil, the “Old Town Road” act found himself in headlines for a healthy amount of time. But outraged press is still press, and the controversy helped the video reach a new and dubious milestone.

The video reached one million dislikes this past weekend, becoming the first video on his artist page to do so. The news was shared by a Lil Nas fan account and after the singer himself caught wind of it, he shared a brief message. “Thank u to everyone who made this possible,” he wrote. “I am nothing without you guys lack of support.”

Back in June, Lil Nas revealed that he anticipated that the song and its video would receive considerable backlash. “Even when I was planning the video, I was like, ‘Oh, this is definitely going to hit Fox News,’” he said during a guest appearance on the Desus & Mero Showtime series. “I definitely didn’t expect the outrage as much as it was at all, especially, like, governors tweeting me. Like, you’re a governor. You don’t have anything better to do?”

The MTV Moon Person Trophy Gets An Updated Look

Winners at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards will receive an updated version of the iconic Moon Person trophy.

As part of MTV’s 40th-anniversary celebration, the network has recruited artist Kehinde Wiley to revamp the statuette that will be handed out at the 2021 VMAs.

Wiley’s new version features the traditional astronaut silhouette while lacing it with green vines and colorful flowers. MTV tells Rolling Stone that the design choice “represents inclusivity and diversity marked by the historical, environmental and nature relevance of the botanicals.”

“Each intertwined vine or leaf has a different historical relevance, such as the seeds from African slaves, that are woven into the American tapestry,” adds the network. “The sculpture complements Wiley’s forthcoming series of portraits, in which he plans to create paintings featuring his subjects lying on their sides as vines encircle their bodies.”

A large-scale version of the design was unveiled on Sunday at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Wiley rose to significant prominence for his presidential portrait of Barack Obama in 2018, a work that currently hangs in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Other subjects of Wiley’s have included the likes of the Notorious B.I.G., Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, and more.

This year’s VMAs are scheduled to take place on September 12 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

While nominees have not been officially announced, Megan Thee Stallion notably led the first-round ballot nominations, earning five of the 53 entries for video of the year and five of the 60 entries for song of the year.

ArrDee Shows Off His Humor With New Banger “Jiggy (Whiz)”

When it comes to flows and lyrics, there is no doubt that UK artists are in a complete league of their own. British artists are typically a lot cheekier with their lyrics as they don’t have a problem with being humorous within their songs. While most American artists take themselves incredibly seriously, the UK lot seems to be keener with theatrics. This is especially true for UK rapper ArrDee who recently dropped a brand new song called “Jiggy (Whiz)” which is an obvious party anthem.

With this track, ArrDee delivers some high-energy flows all while the production matches the party vibe that the artist is reaching for. The music video that goes along with the track is just as rambunctious as the song itself, which is something you love to see. Overall, ArrDee shines on the song, and fans who have yet to hear him should definitely give this effort a listen.

Quotable Lyrics:

Spun the track off the DJ
She running back, she likes the relay (Aye)
She kinda tapped but sweetie, she’s [?]
But I like that so girl, it’s ok (It’s ok)

Key Glock & Gucci Mane Make It Look Easy On “I Do This”

Young Dolph dropped off PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi with the Paper Route EMPIRE this past week. The project is a chance for Dolph to showcase his roster of talent. Key Glock, Snupe Bandz, Big Moochie Grape, and others take a prominent role in making PAPER ROUTE iLLUMINATi sound dope. A shining example of this is Key Glock’s single “I Do This” featuring Gucci Mane.

The beat for “I Do This” is mainly comprised of a haunting piano and a siren-like synth that spins around the drums. The monotony of the instrumental almost gives the beat a marching vibe, like we’re stomping off to war. Gucci Mane hops in for the second verse, performing a memorable 16 before leaving Key Glock to command every other portion of the single.

Quotable Lyrics
Stop the track, Glock, R.I.P to George Floyd (Stop)
I’m Gucci Mane LaFlare, my watch cost way more than Floyd’s (Well, damn)
These niggas broke as hell and it’s obvious to see (I see)
Gucci-ology, these niggas be studying me (Wow)
Get up off my dick like a bitch, like a bitch (Bitch)
Fuck a gang, I don’t need a clique, I’m the shit (Pfft)
