Vic Mensa Praised For 10-Minute L.A. Leakers Freestyle Over “Nas Is Like” Beat

“Hungrier than ever. 10 Minute Freestyle,” Vic Mensa tweeted about his recent L.A. Leakers appearance, and Hip Hop fans have been weighing in by the thousands. The Chicago rapper is the latest to visit the famed Power 106 show, albeit it certainly isn’t the first time he’s shown face. Mensa has visited L.A. Leakers quite a few times in recent years, but his previous appearances didn’t come close to the reactions he received today (June 30).

Back in March, Mensa dropped off his impressive I TAPE, a seven-track project that highlighted his lyrical skills, and he further added to the praise with his Leakers freestyle, a delivery that was fired off over Nasir Jones’s classic, “Nas is Like.”

I got westside connections like Dub-C / Plus more enemies in the public than Chuck D / She be sellin’ p*ssy but I’m f*ckin for free / I ain’t a Trick Daddy nan n*gga f*ckin with me,” Mensa spit smoothly. DJ sourMILK and Justin Credible couldn’t contain their reactions and were visibly taken aback by Mensa’s effort.

Aside from his music, Mensa has flexed his acting chops and has appeared on the current fourth season of The Chi. Check out his freestyle, as well as a few reactions, below.

Mist & Burna Boy Are Living Large On “Rollin'”

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from UK rapper Mist. In fact, we haven’t really heard much music from him since the end of 2020. The rapper’s last release was “Cemetary Walks,” an emotional record detailing the friends he’s lost from the streets. Fans have been hoping a new anthem would arrive soon, and surely enough, he’s back with a massive record to shut down the summer with some assistance from the African Giant, Burna Boy.

Together, they unite for the release of “Rollin’,” an upbeat banger that flips a sample from Donell Jones’s “U Know What’s Up.” The two artists tackle a dancehall-inspired beat celebrating women, wealth, and the good life.

The new single from Mist comes with the announcement of his forthcoming BBC show, Gassed Up.

The news of Bill Cosby’s release continues to stir up reactions and Dreamville’s very own has come forward with a tweet-and-delete. There are several celebrities who have been celebrating Cosby’s conviction being overturned, including his The Cosby Show co-star Phylicia Rashad, as well as his supporters Boosie Badazz and Lil Duval. A post made by the latter caught the attention of J.I.D and the rapper wasn’t impressed with the comedian’s response.

“Bill Cosby about to be free!” Duval tweeted earlier today (June 30). “City boy win summer 2021!” While many of Duval’s fans laughed at the longstanding “City Boy” joke, J.I.D retweeted the post with a caption that let the world know just how he felt.

Lamar Odom Denies “Deadbeat” Claims, Says He’s Not “Responsible For A Grown Ass Woman”

Fans of Basketball Wives may see this play out for reality television, but for now, Lamar Odom is airing out his personal life on social media. It has been reported that Odom’s ex Liza Morales would be adding her name to the cast of the popular VH1 series and prior to her addition, Morales reportedly took the Los Angeles Lakers icon to court.

According to Page Six, Odom owes $91K in child support payments that he’s missed since July 2020. The former couple shares two children together and the outlet stated that Odom also was supposed to be responsible for Morales’s New York City apartment where she lives with their kids. He reportedly hasn’t paid $83K in rent, causing Morales and the children to be evicted.

In a recent hearing, Odom’s celebrity boxing match was called into question after it was learned that he earned $40K from the fight against Aaron Carter. “If Mr. Odom is in good enough shape to participate in a boxing match, he’s certainly in good enough shape to abide by his obligations to support his children as set forth in the settlement agreement,” Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper reportedly said during a hearing.

“He is definitely making income,” Morales reportedly stated in a video. “He just got a check for that boxing match. He is doing a lot of things regarding his brand. He has a CBD company that he works with.” Later, Odom shared a screenshot of a headline about this case and penned a lengthy response.

He called the news “BS” and included his ex’s Instagram handle, but admitted that she’s blocked him. “I was never married to my kids mother. I took care of her from the second she became pregnant and even after I was married I still paid her bills,” he said. “I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for a GROWN ASS WOMAN!! Once my children became adults my duties were done! I told her to GO TO WORK! MOVE into an affordable home, she didn’t listen and that is NOT on ME!”

He criticized the media and the public for referring to him as a “deadbeat” without taking into consideration that Morales needs to get a job. “Enough is enough. I do not get pension from the NBA until I’m 46. I do not own a CBD line, I did not get paid $40k from Celebrity Boxing,” he claimed, adding that he’s working, he’s building a “solid brand,” and he sends money to his children every month.

“Do I support Liza? No !!! And I shouldn’t be made to either! So I will have my day in court, I was never served papers to appear and I will be filing an injunction to this bitter Judges order.” He then saluted mothers taking care of their children and fathers who do the same “but receive no credit.”

“To the Liza’s who sit on their asses and expect a handout, who lie and manipulate their children, who use their children as pawns, who creates stories and scenarios to attract attention, may you seek healing and counseling for your brokenness ~ you need it.” Check out his post below.

Phresher Demolishes Migos “Straightenin”

It was only a matter of time until Migos lead single off of Culture III spawned numerous remixes. The gang returned last month with “Straightenin” to kick off the campaign for their latest studio which they already took to the BET Awards stage as well as the Jake Paul & Paul Mayweather fight earlier this month. Still, “Straightenin” is taking over the radio and clubs and it seems that we’re gonna be getting more artists putting their spin on the record in the future.

Phresher came through with his remix of the new record from Migos this week, releasing it exclusively on his Instagram page. The rapper flexes his lyrical muscle over DJ Durel’s production with his monstrous energy and rapid-fire flow.

Peep the remix below.

All my brothers is blood, we bleed it out

Bill Cosby Speaks About His “Innocence” As Phylicia Rashad Responds To Backlash

She has previously spoken out in support of Bill Cosby, but the public still vocalized their disappointment with Phylicia Rashad. Today (June 30), Cosby was released from prison after his conviction for sexual assault was overturned, and the global reaction to the news has been a mixed bag. His supporters have applauded the court system for releasing “America’s Dad,” while his detractors believe that justice was not served.

“FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted – a miscarriage of justice is corrected!” Rashad wrote in a caption to an Instagram post of a photo of Cosby. We previously reported on the beloved actress’s response and she was swiftly met with backlash, and she returned to social media to show her support of sexual assault victims.

On her Instagram Story, Rashad added, “I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing.”

Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison back in 2018, and throughout his incarceration, the entertainment legend has denied culpability. He asserts that he is innocent and just an hour ago, he thanked his supporters for standing by him.

“I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence,” he wrote. “Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby.” Following his release, the “#MeToo” hashtag has trended throughout the day. Check out both Cosby and Rashad’s posts below.
