LBS Kee’vin & OMB Peezy Offers Harsh Life Lessons On “That’s Life”

Coming out of Florida, LBS Kee’vin has made quite the impression on the hip-hop world thanks to his melodic style that features a ton of heartfelt lyrics about his experiences and some of the pain he has endured over the years. Fans are resonating with his work and each new song displays growth on the songwriting front. On Friday, Kee’vin linked up with OMB Peezy from Alabama and dropped a new song called “That’s Life” which can be found below.

In this track, we are met with some smooth piano lines and some great melodies from Kee’vin who raps about just how tough life can be. Kee’vin explains how you can’t trust anyone and that around every corner, there are people looking to take you down. OMB Peezy echoes these sentiments and their verses sound great next to one another.

Let us know what you think of the song, in the comments below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Your day one ain’t your day one, your real friend ain’t your real friend
Your main bitch got a side nigga, go to jail, that money get spent
I know n***** wanna rob me so I ride behind this dark tint
With a G9 on my lap, been a killer who ain’t got no sense (No sense, no sense)

Baby Keem Reveals The Title Of His Next Project

We last heard a full project from Baby Keem back in 2019 with his second mixtape Die For My B*tch. For many listeners of the 20-year-old rapper, the tape was their first introduction to the talented emcee. Namely, “Orange Soda” earned the youngster a new level of national notoriety.

He’s since treated listeners to multiple monochrome-colored loosies like “hooligan,” “no sense,” and most recently, “durag activity” with Travis Scott. The most recent announcement from the California native calls for celebration from fans who have been waiting for a full project from Keem.

Announcing the name of his forthcoming release, Keem tweeted on Friday (April 30th), “my next project will be titled The Melodic Blue.” Leaving it at that, the announcement from the shadowy rapper was enough to appease fans.

The announcement came with a Twitter biography switch. His page now reads, “honey, I’m blue!” a telltale reference to the upcoming project. The revelation follows the release of his and Travis Scott’s hard-hitting melancholic banger “durag activity.” Befitting of the “melodic blue” theme of the project, in true Keem-form, the track uses sounds that deviate from what’s expected within hip-hop.

While it’s unclear whether the project will be the relative newcomer’s debut project or a subsequent EP/mixtape, these days in music, the lines between the terms are very blurred.

Nonetheless, let us know if you’re looking forward to The Melodic Blue. Check out the video for “durag activity” below if you haven’t yet already.

Ray Moon Delivers Hypnotic R&B Odyssey On “Rick James”

Ray Moon continues to impress in the world of R&B and her latest efforts have been getting a ton of appreciation from new fans. Back in February, the artist dropped a dope track called “Glowin,” and now, she is right back with a new single called “Rick James” which pays homage to the legendary artist.

In the music video down below, Moon actually dresses up like Rick James and is surrounded by a band who all seem to be rocking 80s fashion. From there, the song is extremely psychedelic as we get drugged out production that allows Moon to shine with some brooding vocals and echoed ad-libs. The sounds immediately remind us of Travis Scott, however, it is done with R&B sensibilities which allows the song to be truly unique.

This is another solid effort from Moon and you can check it out, below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Everything I say I do it I did it
Too many fish in the sea, ain’t fishin
I ain’t got kids, it’s just me and my children
She just throw her ass you know I’m gon tip it

J. Cole Confirms He’s Ready To Drop “The Off-Season”

The rap game has been patiently waiting on the rap game’s big 3 to drop. While Drizzy’s at least informed us that an album is supposed to be on the way, J. Cole and Kendrick have kept fans relatively in the dark about new releases. Whispers from their camps emerge on social media but neither of them really speak until it’s officially time.

A few days ago, Bas from Dreamville revealed that J. Cole’s highly-anticipated project, The Off-Season was coming in two weeks. Some may have been skeptical but J. Cole’s now confirmed that the album is complete.

The rapper took to his Instagram Story where he expressed his excitement to drop his upcoming album. “Just rode through the city to The Off-Season. Dawg…,” he wrote with a facepalm emoji. “Too excited.”

J. Cole’s been teasing the album’s release, along with The Fall Off era, for a few months. In a mysterious post shared to his IG, the rapper unveiled three titles for forthcoming releases which also includes It’s A Boy and The Fall Off. Some have taken this as a sign that he might be retiring.

So, it looks like The Off-Season will actually drop in the coming weeks. May is shaping up to be a great month for hip-hop altogether. Just a few days ago, TDE hinted at a major release coming on May 7th. While many believe this could mean Kendrick and Cole would be dropping back-to-back, there’s been no word that K. Dot would be returning to the fold that soon.

Canelo Alvarez Explains How He Negotiated His Brother’s Ransom

Canelo Alvarez has been through a lot during his boxing career although there are some sagas that he has barely touched on with the media. One such example was brought up during an interview with the likes of Graham Bensinger this past week. In the interview, Canelo revealed that all the way back in 2018, before a fight against Rocky Fielding, his own brother was kidnapped and the perpetrators were demanding ransom money.

In the end, Alvarez and his family paid the money and they were able to get his brother home safely. As Canelo explains, he didn’t even go to the police when it happened, as he didn’t want the kidnappers to end up killing his brother out of anger. Instead, he and his family kept things quiet, and eventually, his brother made it home.

“After I negotiated his release, I was still thinking, imagine if it was my daughter, or my mom or my dad, it would have been even more difficult for me,” Alvarez said. Alvarez was able to win his fight against Fielding with ease and it was yet another example of just how mentally strong Alvarez truly is.

It’s impossible to imagine what he must have been going through during the lead up to the fight although it’s nothing short of amazing that he managed to get through it.

Young Thug Shows Off His Collection Of Plaques & Previews Unreleased Track

Young Thug is one of those artists in hip-hop that the game owes a lot to. Already understood as one of the most influential figures in his generation of rappers, his undeniable impact on modern rap and trap music can be heard in many artists that arrived after him. That being said, his expansive career has surely earned him a considerable amount of commercial success.

Earning notoriety from his mixtapes alone before releasing his first official studio album So Much Fun in 2019 to rave reviews and a No.1 debut, Thugger has a lot to brag about. After unleashing the YSL compilation Slime Language 2, the Atlanta native took a moment to reflect on his achievements while also previewing new heat for fans.

In a video shared to his Instagram page this week, Thugger showed off his numerous RIAA certifications and their accompanying plaques. Many of the plaques still remained in plastic as an unknown camera mean panned across plaques for Slime Season 3, Barter 6, and more.

In the footage, Thugger lays on a pillow next to a teddy bear as the camera pans. He recently scored a pretty healthy lineup of gold and platinum plaques, bringing his grand total to thirty-seven.

In addition to showing off his RIAA plaques, he previewed an unreleased track quite fitting for the video. Right now, not many details are known about the single speculated to be titled “Hate the Game.” The allegedly London on da Track produced has sparse details available on it right now, but fans speculate it will be featured on his upcoming second LP. Check out some of the lyrics available to “Hate the Game” below and let us know if you’re looking forward to it!

“Hate the Game”

I f*cked her the first night and then I never called again
Last time lil’ shawty see me, I was ridin’ with her friend
This alligator Kelly, not the Stacey, please
Do not hate me, hate the game, baby (x3)
Hopped out the Lamborghini and she ate me
All this water on my sleeve, I need a Jet Ski

Congrats to Thugger!

Jayson Tatum Speaks Out On Scoring 60 Points For The First Time

There have been times where the Boston Celtics have struggled mightily this season although there are some games where they simply astonish their fans. Last night was one of those games as the Celtics were losing to the San Antonio Spurs by 32 points in the first half. Somehow, the Celtics were able to make a massive comeback and won the game in overtime by a score of 143-140.

Much of this had to do with the heroics of Jayson Tatum, who went out and scored a whopping 60 points which is a career-high. Immediately following the game, Tatum spoke about his massive performance and how it was special to share the moment with his teammates.

“It was a special night,” Tatum said per ESPN. “Just being around guys, playing with guys you enjoy being around, and are happy for your success … we all see the hard work each and every one of us put in every day, so that when someone, myself or whoever it is, has a night like that, just to share that moment with them is special. Just to have your teammates be happy for you means everything.”

With the win, the Celtics are now 34-40 and are sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. A playoff spot is pretty well guaranteed at this point barring any sort of epic collapse, although if they want to go far, they will need Tatum to keep up this pace.
