Juice WRLD’s Estate Reportedly Sued Over “Scared Of Love”

It appears some aspiring artist is suing Juice WRLD’s estate for a song he claims was ripped off from him. According to TMZ, a guy with the stage name Ghost Loft claims he made a song called “So High” way back in 2013, only for Juice WRLD to rip off 16 bars for his song “Scared of Love” on Juice Wrld’s 2018 album Goodbye & Good Riddance.

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, the artist claims Juice WRLD and Mitch Mula are the only credited writers on “Scared of Love,” even though he says Mula later admitted to sampling his beat. He believes the song “Scared of Love” wouldn’t even exist without him.

As a result, Ghost Loft is suing Juice WRLD’s mother and executor of his estate, Carmella Wallace, as well as Mula, Universal Music Group and Interscope. He’s reportedly going after them for damages, an injunction prohibiting Juice’s estate from profiting off the song, and a writing credit. It’s unclear at the moment how much he’s asking for and whether or not he’ll even be successful, but he apparently thinks he’s got a case. We’ll keep you posted. RIP Juice WRLD.

LeBron James Adds Insult To Injury After Crossing Up Jae Crowder

LeBron James is one of the best players in the history of the NBA and when it comes to the playoffs, no one turns on the jets better than James. He always brings his game to a whole new level and that is exactly what he’s been doing against the Phoenix Suns over the past two games. In fact, LeBron helped give his Lakers a victory last night as they took a 2-1 series lead against a team that got the second seed in a stacked Western Conference.

Perhaps the best play of the night was when LeBron put multiple moves on Jae Crowder, who is a notorious Lakers hater. In fact, Crowder said the Lakers title was illegitimate due to the bubble, even though Crowder was in the NBA Finals, in the very same environment. Regardless, it’s clear that LeBron wanted to make an example of Crowder and that’s exactly what he did. To make matters worse, LeBron posted the highlight on his IG account and came through with one of those signature LeBron captions.

“Just a kid from AKRON enjoying what he loves to do! P.S. My goons on the bench are the GREATEST!!!! LOL. Love you boys!” LeBron wrote.

Now, with a 2-1 series lead, the Lakers have control of the series and as someone who has been in this position before, James won’t be taking his foot off the gas anytime soon. As for Crowder, he’s going to have to be extra careful on defense in Game 4, otherwise, he might be on the receiving end of yet another highlight-reel play.

Rexx Life Raj Releases The 3-Song ‘Untitled’ EP To Thank Fans For Their Love And Support

The past year has been rough on all of us and while some were able to use the extended economic shutdown to be productive, others were less inspired, finding whatever they could hold onto to help them survive. Bay Area rapper/singer Rexx Life Raj falls partially into the latter category, according to a tweet thread he shared earlier this week. “Over these past months, I haven’t been able to make a lot of music,” he admitted. “But of the few I made these have been on repeat, helping me through these times.” As a gesture of appreciation to fans for their continued love and support, he released the three songs as an untitled EP.

The three tracks include “Silver Linings,” on which he nods to his flaws, but resolutely holds to his virtues and reminds listeners to “check on your strong friends” over a groovy beat. On “Made A Man,” Raj recalls the struggles that have built him up and “forced me to learn to stand on my own” over an acoustic guitar sample and spacey synthesizers. Finally, on “Make It Shake,” he again uses a guitar loop to accompany another motivational anthem on which he prays “for better days, then outside and make it shake.” And despite not making much new music over the past few months, what he has made has been similarly inspirational, including “Bounty” and the encouraging “Bounce Back.”

Listen to “Made A Man,” “Make It Shake,” and “Silver Linings” above.

The Neptunes Fuel Rollout Rumors After Wiping Their Instagram Page

Although some artists are still able to pull off surprise albums, the Hip-Hop community’s infatuation with social media has made it nearly impossible for artists to successfully prep a top-secret release. One of the biggest signs that an artist is in album mode is the famous Instagram wipe, and eagle-eyed fans have noticed that one of the most iconic production duos of all time has recently done just that.

Judging from their Instagram, it appears that The Neptunes may be prepping a rollout for a new song or project. After completely cleansing their feed, the beloved production outfit that features Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo has shared a new photo of both artists working side by side in the studio.

Producers Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes arrive at The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2003 at the Miami Arena on October 13, 2003 in Miami, Florida. The show will air on the BET network on November 11, 2003 at 8:00 p.m.

Posted alongside the most minimal caption possible, the only indication as to what Pharrell and Chad Hugo may be up to is the Vulcan salute emoji, a.k.a. the immediately recognizable hand salutation that Star Trek character Spock popularized. Check out the mysterious Instagram post below. The Neptunes and the artists who were signed to their Star Trak Entertainment label were known to pose in photos while holding up the  Vulcan salute, so their eyebrow-raising new post may also hint at the return of their now-defunct record label.

Although the mere thought of new music from The Neptunes is enough to get any Hip-Hop head excited, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Stay tuned to see what Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams have up their sleeves.

Swizz Beatz Reflects On DMX Pimping Out A Rental Car: “X Was Just Different”

DMX’s highly anticipated posthumous album, Exodus, finally arrived today (May 28), featuring guest appearances from Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, The Lox, and many more. Prior to its arrival however, longtime friend and producer, Swizz Beatz, held a private listening party for friends and industry folk alike on Thursday night. During the event, Swizz took some time out to say a few words about his fallen brother and remembered a funny story about X once pimping out his rental car. Swizz said X put rims and tints on his rental ride, even though he was giving it back.

“He’s the same person who rented a car and then fucking bought rims to put on a rented car — rims, put tint, wrapped the car,” Swizz Beatz told HipHopDX. “I said, ‘Dog, you rentin’ the car. What you doing?”

“He said, ‘Ah it’s mine right now. When I give it back to them, if they want to take it off, fuck it.’ He rented a car and decked it out like it was his. Like he just didn’t even care.”

Continuing on, Swizz added that X was just a different type of person. “X was just different. He was a philanthropist. He was a people’s person. A lot of people like to lead with a lot of negativity with our culture and our music, but X was just different. Even the things he got locked up for, they weren’t like big things. They were little things. You never heard of him hurting people. X was a real serious people. He was getting in trouble for stupid shit. He was a teddy bear. He was a good guy.”

DMX passed away on April 9 at White Plains Hospital after suffering from a heart attack and overdose. He was 50 years young. RIP X. Listen to his new album here.

Larry June Shares “You Gotta” Ahead Of Forthcoming Album “Orange Print”

Earlier this month, Larry June treated fans with his first single of 2021. Titled “Wait On Me,” the smooth cut was the Bay Area rapper’s first release since his full-length project Numberslast December, and the introspective and melodic single has already amassed over half of a million views on YouTube alone. Today, Larry June is determined to keep that momentum going with the release of another new track called “You Gotta.”

Produced by Cardo, “You Gotta” is a breezy single that finds Larry June in a motivational, yet braggadocious state. Throughout the three-minute cut, Larry offers plenty of inspiring lines that urge listeners to persevere, dodge naysayers, and stay focused on their goals. Still, the prolific artist finds plenty of opportunities to boast about his financial success, relationships with women, and luxurious lifestyle.

If you’ve been feeling the Bay Area rapper’s output as of late, get excited because “You Gotta” is set to appear alongside “Wait On Me” on Larry’s forthcoming album Orange Print, which releases on June 11 via Empire.

Watch the swanky music video for Larry June’s latest single “You Gotta” below.

Julius Randle Goes Off On Fan Who Spat At Trae Young

Wednesday night’s slate of NBA games brought forth a couple of fan incidents that have since led to indefinite bans. The first incident in question involved a fan pouring popcorn on Russell Westbrook’s head. The second incident took place at Madison Square Garden as a Knicks fan spat at Trae Young. It was a truly disgusting display and the league is making sure to take action against people who disrespect the players in such obscene ways.

Recently, Knicks star Julius Randle was asked about what happened and what he thought about the whole thing. As you can imagine, Randle was quite disgusted by it and he noted that the fan who did it should face harsh punishment, regardless of his allegiances.

“I definitely didn’t see it but there’s no place for that, man,’’ Randle said via the New York Post. “I don’t care if it’s our home crowd or not, there’s no place for that. We’ve got to protect the players. That’s disrespectful.”

Adam Silver recently came out and said that any fan who behaves in such a way will be banned from NBA arenas and that they could even face legal consequences. The league wants to protect the players, and they won’t let some rowdy fans ruin what should be an incredible playoff run.
