Tiger Woods has revealed he was distraught after the assassination attempt of Donald Trump. The international news caused Woods to lose sleep, which he stated affected his preparation for The Open Championship.
Speaking with BBC Sport, Woods stated he learned about the shooting while flying to Scotland, causing him to remain awake on his flight and watch all of the coverage.
“I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind,” Woods said. “It was a long night and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here.
“I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”
Woods bonded with Trump on the golf course, as many of Trump’s friends do. In 2019, he also gave Trump the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
