Ice-T Recalls Being Insulted By ‘Racist Piece Of Sh*t’ Rush Limbaugh

Right-wing radio personality Rush Limbaugh passed away on February 17, sparking an outpouring of reactions from true sorrow to celebration from political enemies. While folks on the conservative side of the aisle reminisce on how “funny” they think he was or use his death to whine about the results of long-decided elections, others are remembering how damaging much of his commentary could be.

Rap pioneer Ice-T, on the other hand, made his opinion known a long time ago and chose instead to remind fans of his old tweet telling them exactly what he thought of Rush Limbaugh. Quote-tweeting his own post from July of 2012, Ice-T recalled a backhanded slight he once received from Rush and what he believed it said about the outspoken host. “Rush Limbaugh said he was impressed I knew the word ‘tyranny,’” reads the old tweet. “He’s a racist piece of sh*t.” Judging by the fact that he exhumed this five-year-old tweet just days after the man’s death, it’s probably safe to assume Ice’s opinion hasn’t changed much since.

Ice-T has found something of a third life (after his second one as the perpetually befuddled sergeant Fin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) thanks to his witty political commentary on Twitter. Recently, his comments about Trump’s second impeachment trial amused fans while his empathetic response to his father-in-law contracting COVID-19 suggests he’d be a more than respectable replacement for the departed Rush, should he ever decide to pursue punditry full time.

Bobby Shmurda Had Two Songs Certified Platinum The Day He Got Out Of Prison

For obvious reasons, today is a great day for Bobby Shmurda: After being behind bars for six years, the rapper was released from prison this morning. He actually has even more than that to celebrate right now: Today, the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA) has given him four new certifications, including a pair of Platinum ones.

His breakout single “Hot N****” (sometimes also known as “Hot Boy”) is now certified 5-times Platinum, indicating sales of at least 5 million units. It was previously certified Gold and then Platinum in 2014. His only other officially released single as a lead artist, “Bobby B*tch,” also earned itself a Platinum certification today. Meanwhile, Rowdy Rebel’s “Computers,” on which Shmurda features, earned a Gold certification today, as did Shmurda’s EP Shmurda She Wrote.

So far, Shmurda has had a big day since his release. Quavo made good on his word to pick Shmurda up from prison and did so with a private jet, sharing a video of them landing on Instagram. He also had a video call with his mother and had 50 pounds of oxtail cooked by her, per his request. After all this celebration, the rapper’s plan is apparently to focus his efforts on his music, as his mother has said.

Kim Kardashian Co-Signs Breakup Anthem Post-Kanye West Divorce

Kim Kardashian West will be losing one of her surnames in the coming months, and she’s seemingly feeling pretty broken up about her freshly-filed divorce to Kanye West, which will reportedly play out on the upcoming season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. On Monday afternoon, the celebrity businesswoman posted a video of herself listening to the most popular song in the world, Olivia Rodrigo’s breakup anthem “driver’s license”, placing a focus on some of the lyrics.

Sharing her view as she drove down the freeway, Kim listened intently to the track that has ruled the Billboard Hot 100 for six straight weeks, concentrating on the following lyrics: “And all my friends are tired/Of hearing how much I miss you, but/I kinda feel sorry for them/’Cause they’ll never know you the way that I do, yeah/Today I drove through the suburbs/And pictured I was driving home to you/And I know we weren’t perfect/But I’ve never felt this way for no one, oh/And I just can’t imagine/How you could be so okay now that I’m gone.”

Obviously, those lyrics could be communicating Kim’s exact feelings for her estranged husband Kanye. The two had an incredible run for six years, but recent struggles, including Kanye’s failed presidential run, seemingly halted their love for good and prompted Kim to filed for divorce. On the final slide, Kim added five heart emojis and two knives, whatever that means.

Do you think Kim is trying to send Kanye a message subliminally? Are you hoping they end up getting back together?

Bryson Tiller’s “Anniversary” Deluxe Edition Is Arriving This Friday

With considerable spacing between his first two projects Trapsoul and True Self and its follow-up Anniversary, which arrived some three or so years later, it seems like Bryson Tiller is planning to make up the wait to fans this year. The standard edition of the project arrived in October of last year and included ten tracks, with its sole feature coming from Drake on the eighth track “Outta Time.” Back in December, the lowkey R&B star teased an upcoming deluxe edition of the project to fans. He came through on that promise today by unleashing a trailer for the upcoming deluxe edition, set to arrive this Friday, February the 26th.

He shared a video titled “Anniversary (Deluxe) Trailer” to his official Youtube page today, which revealed the deluxe is coming this Friday. The refurbished edition will feature 5 brand new songs, which flash at the end of the screen. The new songs seem to all follow a time-centered theme and include: “Still Yours” with Big Sean, “Timeless Interlude Pt. II,” “Losing Focus,” “7:00,” and “Like Clockwork.”

Aside from the deluxe, the “Sorrows” crooner is also working on his Serenity album, which will have three separate volumes: pop, rap, and R&B. In addition, he’s also working on another project set to be released later this year.

6ix9ine Makes Disgusting Comments About King Von

You can’t stoop much lower than Tekashi 6ix9ine has in recent weeks. The disgraceful Brooklyn-based rapper has reached new levels of disrespect following the release of his new single and music video for “ZAZA”, which he claims Meek Mill is trying to sabotage by sending a cease and desist letter. As he says in a previously-unreleased tape from Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine, the rapper is embracing his villainous vibes, comparing himself to The Joker and attempting to become the most notorious bad guy ever in hip-hop.

He’s continuing his recent run by disrespecting a number of high-ranking rap figures, including Meek Mill and Lil Durk, as well as some deceased rappers, including King Von. Devoting a few main feed posts to his beef with Durk and Von on Instagram, 6ix9ine continued his barrage of disgusting comments.

“KING VON: And When I Die imma find Tooka ass and imma beat him up,” wrote 6ix9ine, quoting the late rapper dissing Tooka. “LIL DURK: Smoking on this TOOKA pack. 6ix9ine: KING VON rest in Piss. EVERYONE: 69 you to disrespectful.” The rapper was seemingly attempting to call out a double standard among rap fans. “Straight jokes … at least his wish came true,” said 6ix9ine, further dissing Von.

In a second post, 6ix9ine shares Tooka’s mother’s message from a few weeks ago, tearfully asking rappers to stop using her son’s death as a meme. “TOOKA MOM CRYING BEGGING THEM TO STOP,” wrote 6ix9ine, antagonizing Lil Durk and Only The Family. “DONT WORRYY MISS TOOKA KING VON SLEEPING DROWING IN PISS IN THE DIRT!!!! HE WENT OUT WORST THEN YOUR SON!! ALL HIS FRIENDS RAN ON HIM!!”

The nasty comments continued on DJ Akademiks’ page, with possibly the worst one yet. “King Von is burning in hell and I’m here for it,” he said.

6ix9ine’s reputation is about as bad as it gets, so this likely won’t do much to damage his name any further. That doesn’t erase how disgusting his remarks were.

Quavo Gifts Rowdy Rebel Stacks Of Cash As A Welcome Home Present

Bobby Shmurda emerged out of prison this morning and it’s a glorious day for hip-hop. Within a short time in the rap game, he had an everlasting impact that has transformed the sound of East Coast rap. His unfortunate incarceration occurred just as he was about to blow up but still, the streets never forgot about him.

After Rowdy Rebel came out of prison in 2020, he’s kept fans updated on Bobby’s whereabouts while working on new music. It seems now that both rappers are out of prison, solo music isn’t only in the pipeline but also the upcoming ShMigos project. Quavo teased the collaborative effort as recently as 2019.

Before Bobby arrived home this morning via a private jet courtesy of Quavo, the Migos rapper finally linked up with Rowdy Rebel for dinner last night. Footage circulated earlier today with Quay dropping off a stack of money for Rowdy last night that he described as a “lil’ care pack for the gang.” Adding, “You know I love you, bro.”

“Stop playin’. This goin’ straight to the bank,” Rowdy said.

Quavo celebrated Rowdy’s freedom and their link up on Twitter. “My first time seeing my dog rowdy rebel tonight!!! They freed the guys,” he said.

Safaree Says Marrying Erica Mena Was “1 Of [His] Biggest Mistakes”

Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena are seemingly hungry for attention this week, dissing each other on social media and claiming that marriage was one of the “biggest mistakes” they ever made.

Taking their relationship issues to Twitter, Safaree started some drama when he wrote, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart getting married was 1 of my BIGGEST mistakes and it will never happen again. I’m walking away before I End up in jail over some dumb sh*t. Nobody is worth my freedom!!!”

Erica Mena fired back with some shade of her own, writing, Since you always run to social media like a little girl I might as well join in. I absolutely agree with you on this. You are the most selfish, vain and inconsiderate person. And not just with me but your only daughterOut of RESPECT for my daughter and to honor my growth as a woman. I’m going to get back to doing what I do best. Make money and be only about my business. Entertaining social media with my issues isn’t my thing.”

Twitter

Back in November, Safaree made headlines when he teased a divorce from Erica Mena, claiming that he was single on Instagram and tagging Divorce Court in the picture before admitting that it was fake. A few days after, Mena teased Safaree that he could “never” leave her. The two continued their strange relationship when Safaree told Erica that he doesn’t want more kids with her in January because she got “too fat” during her pregnancy. This is seemingly the latest chapter in their never-ending nonsensical marriage.

Mac From No Limit Is Being Released From Prison

While the hip-hop world is busy celebrating the release of New York-based rapper Bobby Shmurda, it is a bit easier for another major release to go under the radar. It has been around 21 years since No Limit Record’s member Mac was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Sentenced in 2001, he served the bulk of his sentence at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana while maintaining his innocence, his family campaigning to re-open the investigation as he remained behind bars for many years.

The rapper 43-year-old rapper can now look forward to heading home following a Lousiana parole board’s unanimous vote to grant him clemency and subsequently release him. McKinley Phipps Jr., known as Mac by hip-hop fans, was convicted in 2001 of manslaughter in the shooting of 19-yar-old concertgoer Barron “Bookie” Victor Jr. at a nightclub in the state. His legal team battled to commute his 30-year sentence after a series of investigative reports by former Huffington Post reporter David Lohr, who exposed numerous flaws in his conviction.

The Louisiana Board of Pardons and Parole recommended Monday (February 22) that Phipps be made eligible immediately for parole and is now heading to the desk of Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards to approve the measure. If signed, he will then need to appear before the parole board one more time before being released.

“Today’s been a good day. It’s kind of the beginning of the road to freedom, but there’s still some more bases to go.” McKinley’s wife, Angelique Phipps, told HuffPost. “It’s a start. One step closer.”

“Not only is this amazing for us, but I believe that it also provides hope for those in comparable situations. Our goal is in sight, and we will get to the finish line,” she continued. Mac released two solo albums and one album as part of the 504 Boyz on No Limit, with his debut album Shell Shocked garnering him buzz as one of the most talented emcees on the label.
