Sean first teased Detroit being added to streaming services after replying to an account on Twitter, last year: “Yeah We need Detroit the mixtape on all streaming services too tho, quit playin.”

Sean recently appeared on One Question, One Mike with Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. During the interview, Sean opened up regarding his mental health and admitted that there have been multiple points in his life when he contemplated suicide.

“I for sure contemplated suicide a lot of times,” Sean said during the interview. “Having guns in my hands and really just… feeling it, for real. Not even trying to be dramatic. Even planning it out to the point where, hey, if I do kill myself, at least my family will get this amount of money. I’d have done this already. All these things. Because I just was stressed out and not happy and I realized that I need to stop everything I’m doing and figure this out or I’ma self-destruct.”

Dr. Fauci Jokes About Microchips In The COVID-19 Vaccine With Stephen Colbert

Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Friday, on the one-year anniversary of the last episode before the COVID-19 lockdown. During the interview, Fauci joked about microchips in the coronavirus vaccine.

“Which one most effectively delivers Bill Gates’ brain-controlling microchip?” Colbert asks.

“Well, there are a couple: one microchip from me, and one microchip from Bill,” Fauci jakes. “It depends which one you want.”

On a more serious note, Fauci spoke about the differences between the three available vaccines in the United States: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson + Johnson. The chief medical advisor to the president suggests taking whichever vaccine is available to you soonest.

“All three of them are highly efficacious. They have different characteristics: Cold storage, one dose versus two doses, but if I walked into a clinic and I wanted to get vaccinated and someone said, ‘You can have this vaccine now, or wait a few weeks for the next one,’ the important thing is to get vaccinated as quickly as you can in order to protect yourself, your family, and the community.”

Fauci also admitted that clubs won’t be opening anytime soon: “No, you shouldn’t hit the clubs until we get the level of virus down so low that there’s no threat to hit the clubs.”

Could Anderson Paak Be Collaborating With BTS Next?

Although it’s his brand new collaboration with Bruno Mars that has catapulted Anderson Paak back into the news cycle — and to the Grammys stage, no less — the Silk Sonic project hasn’t taken other options for joint work off the table for Paak. He seems to be, ahem, leaving the door open for other collaborations, if they come across his desk.

In a recent interview with Esquire the R&B star talked about his love and respect for K-pop, particularly one of the biggest acts in the genre (and the world) right now, BTS. It’s actually Paak’s son, Soul, who he speaks to about the band — especially considering Soul’s mom and Paak’s wife, Jaylyn, is from South Korea.

“I tell him, ‘Yeah, K-pop is where it’s at, man,” Paak said of conversations with his son. “Make sure you keep up with your Korean’ because you could be rapping in Korean one day, and we’ll fly your ass out there, and you won’t got to worry about sh*t.’”

And as far as any plans Anderson himself might have for working with the crew, he sounds more than interested: “I’m working on trying to get that plug, man,” he told Esquire. “If you know of any way, let me know, bro.” The article notes that Paak is “mostly joking,” yet, the isn’t that far of a stretch. Paak has already worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, and appeared on Jazmine Sullivan’s excellent 2021 record Heaux Tales. K-pop could easily be next.

Well, it seems unlikely that journalist has the connect, but BTS if you’re reading this, please consider! Since both artists are performing at the Grammys tomorrow night, it just might be possible they’ll bump into each other backstage. Fingers crossed.

The Roots Airing Annual Pre-Grammys “Jam Session” On Tidal

The Roots’ annual pre-Grammy Jam Session is currently being streamed live on Tidal. Performers include Ari Lennox, Tobe Nwigwe, Ant Clemons, Emily King, Jon Batiste, Brittany Spencer, and Kathy Sledge.

Black Thought recently spoke with Tidal to discuss how the group decided to start the annual event: “It’s something that we started as almost the antithesis to the more formal functions that would take place in Los Angeles on the night before the Grammy Awards …” he explained. “It’s become a tradition, almost a cultural institution of sorts … It’s a function that bridges the gap between up-and-coming artists, already established legends and icons, Grammy-nominated artists, and The Roots. It’s something that we started as a chance to rock out and jam, and celebrate the moment …”

Rick Pitino Leads 5th School To NCAA Tournament, After Iona Wins MAAC Championship

Hall of Fame head coach Rick Pitino has led the Iona Gaels to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in his first year with the University. The team secured a place in the tournament with a 60-51 victory over Fairfield in the MAAC title game, Saturday.

Iona’s win makes Pitino the third coach in college basketball history to lead five different teams to the NCAA tournament. Pitino tournament teams include Boston University, Providence College, Kentucky, Louisville, and Iona.

“I’m just really pleased to be at Iona,” Pitino told reporters after the game. “When you grow up in New York, I grew up on 26th Street, on the East Side of Manhattan. I lived in Queens, I lived in Long Island, I lived in Westchester when I was the Knick coach. I’m New York strong all the way through, and it means a lot to be at Iona.”

Pitino grew up in New York City. He says he chose Iona, in part, because of his proximity to his home: “I knew it was the right fit. It’s 30 minutes from my apartment in New York City; it’s 10 minutes from my son in Harrison, New York. It’s 10 minutes from a golf club I’ve belonged to, Winged Foot. It has a great tradition; the coach before me did an unbelievable job. So many small Catholic schools [have had success]. Gonzaga. Dayton. Iona has a chance to build on what Tim Cluess has done.”

Breonna Taylor’s Mother, Tamika Palmer, Reflects On Daughter’s Death, One Year Later

Breonna Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, spoke with CNN, Saturday, on the one-year anniversary of her daughter’s tragic death at the hands of the Louisville Police Department. Taylor described the situation as “crazy” and “still unbelievable” to her.

“It can’t end here,” Palmer told CNN. “I’m still out here, I’m still doing what I need to do to get justice for Breonna to make sure that people do right by her.”

One way Palmer is seeking justice for her daughter is through the Breonna Taylor Foundation, which aims to support economic, social, and racial justice through police reform and government accountability. Megan Thee Stallion announced she would be partnering with Fashion Nova to donate $100,000 to the foundation, Saturday.

Palmer also discussed Taylor in an interview with NBC, earlier this week.

“Just to know who Breonna was — she didn’t deserve that,” she said at the time. “And so I’ve always felt like I’ve had one job: It was to protect my kids. And so, how do you not continue to fight?”

Attorney Ben Crump also released a statement on Saturday: “1 year ago, Breonna Taylor was tragically killed in her own home, igniting a movement for racial justice and necessary change, which has prompted many cities and states to BAN no-knock warrants. 365 days have passed but the fight for justice for Breonna Taylor continues!!”
