Nas Partners With Hennessy To Deliver Powerful Open Letter To His Daughter Destiny

Nas has reached his level of critical and commercial acclaim for having a way with words. Widely recognized as one of the greatest emcees to ever do it, when Nas talks, people listen. In collaboration with the popular Cognac brand Hennessy, as an ambassador of the drink, the rap legend teamed up with the company to deliver a powerful address to his 25-year-old daughter Destiny Jones on Black excellence.

“Dear Destiny, I wanted you to see something I never saw, feel something our family has never grasped, black excellence. Something like Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1921,” said the Grammy winner in the visual letter to his daughter, referencing the bustling predominantly Black Tulsa district that was completely burned down by white residents.

“40 acres and 35 blocks of black folks running the town. Lawyers, doctors, businesses, all black-owned. Imagine that. The vision of Black Wall Street was intentional. And so was its downfall. A hundred years later, a hundred years strong. Black excellence lives on. Wherever black folks dream, the spirit of Greenwood is there,” he went on to say.

He concluded the letter, “So find them, build with them, dream with them. Be your own Black Wall Street however and wherever you imagine. Your loving father, Nasir Jones.”

The lyricist penned in the caption of the post, “Dear [Destiny Jones] a letter written from the heart and in light of Black perseverance. #NeverStopNeverSettle Society celebrates the perseverance and success of Black entrepreneurs and is a continuation of [Hennessy] long-standing commitment to Black communities. Visit the link in my bio/NeverStopNeverSettleSocety.org to learn more.”

Already taking a word of advice from her father, Destiny is currently the CEO of beauty brand Matic Cosmetics.

Snoop Dogg Poses Important Question About Rapper Basketball Teams

Over the course of the last few years, numerous artists have shown us just how good they are at sports. One of the best examples out there is none other than Quavo who is a very good quarterback and can also beat the best of them out on the basketball court. Guys like J. Cole have toyed with the idea of trying out for the NBA, and even Chris Brown has shown us what he can do on the floor.

These performances got Snoop Dogg thinking today as he took to Instagram with a graphic that was submitted to him. On one team, you have five older rappers and on the other, you’ve got the young guys. The first team contains Snoop, Jim Jones, Fabolous, Cam’Ron, and J. Cole. Meanwhile, the young guns contain Quavo, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Durk, Romeo Miller, and Chris Brown.

Snoop asked his fans who they think would win, and based on the comments, it seems like the opinions are split. While the blue team has all of the youthful exuberance in the world, it’s clear that the oldheads have a massive size advantage and would dominate in the paint. In real life, however, it seems likely that the young guys would take this one.

Let us know who you think would claim this hypothetical basketball game, in the comments below.

Uber Driver Killed After Teenage Girls Carjack & Crash His Vehicle, Captured On Video

It seems like there’s been an uptick of heinous violent crimes in the United States as the country begins to roll back on a number of COVID-19 restrictions as more and more people are vaccinated. The deadly mass shootings in Atlanta and Boulder that collectively left 18 individuals dead are examples of such violent occurrences that have happened in just the past few weeks. Adding to the horrific crimes, two teenagers are responsible for the death of Uber Eats driver Mohammed Anwar in Washington, D.C. after hijacking his vehicle and crashing it with the driver inside.

Graphic footage of the incident, which occurred last Tuesday (March 23), has been making the rounds on the net showing the fatal accident. It depicts Anwar and his vehicle being targeted by two teenage girls, ages 13 and 15. They are said to have tased 66-year-old Anwar before attempting to steal his car. You can hear Anwar scream in the footage, “This is my car!” as the engine starts up.

The teenagers then sped off in the car as bystanders looked on mortified. Anwar can be seen hanging out the front door of the vehicle before the fatal collision. View the graphic video above or below at your own discretion.

As the car laid on its side, the teenagers climb out of the totaled vehicle unscathed. Anwar, on the other hand, laid on the pavement, mortally injured. He was later pronounced dead. The two teenagers are facing felony murder charges.

A spokesperson from Uber said in a statement, “We are devastated by this tragic news and our hearts go out to Mohammad’s family during this difficult time. We’re grateful the suspects have been arrested and thank the Metropolitan Police Department for their diligence with this investigation.”

His family has since set up a GoFundMe to pay for his funeral costs. “[He] was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly,” they wrote on the page.

Our prayers go out to his family.

Shelley FKA DRAM & Gallant Hold Down Our “R&B Season” Playlist

It’s been a busy week in the world and thankfully, the stars of R&B always slide through with soothing vibes to close out your week or ease yourself into a new one. As usual, we’re back with our latest R&B Season playlist update to get you up to speed on everything that you should be checking out right now. Without further delay, here’s your breakdown:

It’s been nearly five years since “Broccoli” took over the summer but lots happened since. DRAM is no longer DRAM. The rapper announced in 2020 that he’d be dropping the moniker and using his real name Shelley moving forward. This week, Shelley returned with his new single, “Cooking With Grease” as he preps for the release of his self-titled sophomore album due out on April 16th.

Along with new music from DRAM, we also got the latest drop from Gallant who came through with his new project, Neptune on Friday. Though released as a single, it was only right that we had the opening song, “Comeback.” on our playlist.

Finally, we got the latest single from Chiiild who dropped off “Sleepwalking” earlier this week.

Lil Nas X Won’t Confirm Or Deny Nicki Minaj Collab On Debut Album

It is no secret at this point that Lil Nas X was among those in the loyal and dedicated fanbase of Nicki Minaj. The self-proclaimed Barb did show some hesitancy after it was revealed that his official Twitter account was formerly a Barb stan page. He explained that despite still being a huge fan of Nicki, he wanted to create an identity for himself as his own career began to launch. Nicki later accepted the apology and congratulated him for his success and speaking his truth.

At the time, Lil Nas X did attempt to try and get a verse from Nicki for his debut album. However, there wasn’t a response from Nicki regarding the potential collaboration. She is quite private, anyways, so it seems even if they did collaborate, they would want a proper rollout to accompany its release.

Following the success (and controversy) of Lil Nas X’s video for his new single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” the rapper went on Instagram Live with @rapalert2.0 when he was asked about his forthcoming project. “You can expect many more moments like this. You can expect people learning more about Montero, learning more about me,” he explained. “You can expect me being myself, like, fully and not really giving a fuck, I guess.”

That’s when the interviewer asked Lil Nas X about working with Nicki Minaj in a way that sounded as if it’s already in the bag for his debut album. “And what was it like working with Nicki Minaj?” The interviewer asked, prompting Lil Nas X to quickly evade the question and the Internet, entirely.

“Oh my god,” he said. “I gotta go. I love you, Nicki. I gotta goooooo. Sorry.” His abrupt response to the question only furthered the assumption that he’s secured the Nicki verse.

Do you think Lil Nas X has a collab with Nicki Minaj already?

Andre Drummond To Sign With Lakers

Andre Drummond was clearly having a hard time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is not necessarily his fault as it is difficult to get yourself motivated to play for a team that has no real prospects when it comes to winning a title or even making the playoffs. A player of his caliber wants to compete for wins, and the Cavs recognized this. Recently, they officially bought out his contract and since that time, Drummond has been contemplating where he wants to go.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Drummond was deciding between the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks. In a new report from his agent, Drummond will actually be choosing the Lakers as of 5 PM EST, which is pretty well what most fans were expecting.

This is a massive signing for the Los Angeles Lakers and it couldn’t come at a better time as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both injured. The Lakers clearly need some help right now and Drummond will be perfect to come in and play the big man role that they so desperately need right now.

The lakers have just gotten infinitely better, and there could be more moves on the way. With this in mind, keep it locked to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the NBA.

Lil Nas X’s Upcoming ‘Satan Shoes’ Have Earned A Divided Reaction From Fans And Confusion From Critics

Lil Nas X has left the internet in a bit of a frenzy this past weekend thanks to his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video. The images of hell and the singer’s interaction with a devilish character in the visual have left fans with mixed reactions toward it. However, that’s only half of it as a collaboration has made some even more upset because of its satanic inspiration.

Lil Nas also announced an upcoming shoe collaboration with viral company MSCHF. The two have partnered for limited edition customized Nike Air Max 97s that have been dubbed as “Satan Shoes.” Set for a March 29 arrival, the shoes will contain a drop of human blood mixed with ink inside its sole and only 666 pairs will be available at the price of $1,018.

For what it’s worth, the shoe collab is just a flip of Air Max 97s that MSCHF released back in 2019. The “Jesus Shoes” were filled with 60cc of Holy Water from the Jordan River. In addition to that, as some have mistaken, the Satan Shoes are not the result of a partnership with Nike. A spokesperson for the brand denied the existence of a collab with the shoes saying, “Nike did not release nor design these shoes.”

What actually happens here is MSCHF purchases the shoes sold by Nike and adds their own designs and modifications to it before reselling them. MSCHF is also known for these unorthodox releases as a 2020 Business Insider profile credited them for “creating some of the most absurd, cynical, and viral projects and products that have spread across the internet.”

Keeping all of this in mind, some fans are upset with the theme of Lil Nas’ and MSCHF collab while others see no issue with it. As expected, they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Alabama Shakes’ Drummer Steven William Johnson Was Arrested On Child Abuse Charges

Despite being on a hiatus, Alabama Shakes found themselves in headlines recently and it wasn’t for the best reasons. The band’s drummer, Steven William Johnson was arrested on child abuse charges last week. The news was reported by Alabama’s WHNT. According to the publication, Johnson was indicted in Limestone County by a grand jury on charges of willful torture, willful abuse, and cruelly beating or otherwise willfully maltreating a child under the age of 18. This is also not the first time the drummer was arrested on abuse charges within the past few years.

Back in 2019, Johnson was arrested for a protection from abuse order violation, one that he pled guilty to in March 2020. According to AL.com, the order was issued after Johnson’s ex-wife accused him of threatening and harassing her. She also said he choked, injured, and stalked her. He currently remains locked up at Limestone County Jail on the more recent charges and his bond has been set at $21,500. Johnson’s arraignment is also scheduled for April 7.

Alabama Shakes’ last album came in 2015 with Sound And Color. The project granted the collective three Grammy awards for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance thanks to “Don’t Wanna Fight” as well as Best Alternative Music Album. The group went on a hiatus in 2018 so lead singer, Brittany Howard, could focus on her debut solo album, Jaime, which she released in 2019.

Lil Nas X Hilariously Trolls Fans With Nike Air Max 97 Apology

Lil Nas X has made waves with his “MONTERO” music video and people are extremely angered by his use of Satan and any sort of devilish imagery. The Twitter Christians have been in a shambolic state for the last couple of days now and it doesn’t seem like they will be looking to stop anytime soon. The Illuminati conspiracies are in full swing, and Lil Nas X is loving every single second of it.

His MSCHF x Nike Air Max 97 “Satan’s Shoe” collaboration has also been catching eyes as of late, especially with the fact that the midsole will have a drop of blood in it. There are only 666 pairs in circulation, and many are worried about the curses they will put on people. As a result of the backlash, Lil Nas X decided to troll fans with a bit of an apology.

As you can see, Lil Nas X starts out with a sincere tone although he eventually cuts to the scene in his music video where he seduces the devil. It was the modern-day equivalent to a rickroll and we’re sure all of his haters and fellow HNHH commenters will be upset to their core over this.

At this stage, Lil Nas X really doesn’t care what people have to say, and we doubt he’ll be changing this mentality, anytime soon.
