DMX Is Still On Life Support, Contrary To Previous Reports

Two hours ago, it appeared that the Hip-Hop community had received a glimmer of hope following the frightening news that DMX was in a vegetative state following a reported drug overdose and heart attack. However, contrary to previous statements made by DMX’s lawyer that he was off life support and breathing on his own, the rapper still remains on life support.

According to Rolling Stone, DMX’s attorney Murray Richman has now confirmed that the information that he initially communicated on behalf of DMX was incorrect. Richman reveals that prior to giving his original statement to Pix11, he had been given the wrong information. In a brief interview with Rolling Stone, however, Richman stated that DMX is currently hospitalized at a White Plains, New York hospital and still on life support.

As previously reported, Richman has a longtime relationship with the legendary rapper, so it’s understandable that was excited to comment on the previous development, even though it was ultimately deemed false. According to Rolling Stone, Richman appears to be handling the situation as well as he possibly can, but he is still concerned.

“It would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I am not a worried man,” Richman says.

Like Richman, the Hip-Hop community is extremely worried about DMX, and we all hope that he pushes through and gets better soon. Stay tuned for updates.

Twitter Reacts To Zendaya Voicing Lola Bunny In “Space Jam: A New Legacy”

Earlier today, Warner Bros. finally released the first official trailer for the forthcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy. Starring Lebron James, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 classic film featuring Michael Jordan will arrive later this summer, but thanks to its new trailer, everyone is talking about the upcoming Space Jam, even Lebron’s former teammate Lonzo Ball

Hours later, the fervor surrounding Space Jam: A New Legacy has returned, as Zendaya has been revealed to be the voice behind the reboot’s polarizing take on Lola Bunny. Last month, when a teaser showcased the Looney Tunes character’s new design, a surprisingly vast amount of Twitter users expressed their disappointment that the cartoon character wasn’t “sexy” enough. While that concerning development was a different story entirely, the confirmation that Zendaya will star as a voice actor in the new Space Jam is an extremely exciting update, so time will tell if the verdict on Space Jam: A New Legacy‘s version of Lola Bunny moves in a more positive direction.

The Lebron James, Zendaya, and Klay Thompson-starring Space Jam: A New Legacy will arrive in theatres and on HBO Max on July 16, 2021, but in the meantime, check out Twitter’s reaction to the news that Zendaya will be voicing the iconic Looney Tunes cartoon character Lola Bunny.

Even though we’ve officially hit April, NCAA’s March Madness still continues with its last few games of the tournament. Fans of the annual rollercoaster of a basketball tournament have been witnessing the upsets and great games over the past few weeks, but now the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament is almost at its end. Earlier today, the number 1-seeded Baylor University Bears and the number 2-seeded University of Houston Cougars faced off in the first Final Four match of the night, and by the end of regulation, Baylor was victorious, earning the school its first NCAA Championship game appearance since 1948.

The top-seeded Bears outscored the Cougars 78-59, which was more than enough to send Houston packing and to secure their spot in the National Championship on Monday, April 5. According to CBS Sports, the 2020-2021 season has been Baylor’s best basketball season in the program’s history, and after its win earlier this evening, the team will cap off its stellar season with a chance to be etched into the college basketball history books.

Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ Is The First Solo Female Rap Song To Reach A Billion Views On YouTube

Nicki Minaj has landed a number of records in her decade-plus-long career and while it’s been almost three years since she released an album, her last one being 2018’s Queen, the rapper is still finding ways to label herself as a one of a kind rapper.

More than six years after the music video’s release, Minaj’s The Pinkprint highlight, “Anaconda,” has reached a billion views on YouTube. The impressive feat makes her the first female rapper to reach the ten-digit number with a solo song on the platform.

With “Anaconda” surpassing a billion views, Minaj also ties Katy Perry and Rihanna for the most overall music videos with more than a billion views on YouTube, that being six. The other videos from the Pink Friday rapper’s catalog to accomplish this include “Bang. Bang” with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, “Hey Mama” with David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, and Afrojack, and “Swalla,” with Jason Derulo and Ty Dolla Sign.

While the news may be a reason to celebrate for the rapper, it comes a little over a year after she listed “Anaconda” as one of three songs she wished she never recorded. She said this during a Q&A session with entertainment executive Irving Azoff at Beverly Hills’ Pollstar Live Conference and added “Starships” and “Your Love” to the list. “I was like, ‘Why did I do this?’” she joked during the conversation.

Bankroll Freddie And Megan Thee Stallion’s Energetic ‘Pop It’ Video Is A Big Time Flex

Nearly two years after signing a deal with Quality Control Music, Arkansas rapper Bankroll Freddie announced a deal with Motown Records to start off the year. The news was shared with a lavish video for his “Add It Up” track.

Fast forward two months and the rapper returns with a full body of work, one that’s accompanied with another video, this time for “Pop It.” The Megan Thee Stallion-featured visual sees the two rappers surround by luxury cars, a large sum of money, and women who, along with Megan, twerk and dance for the majority of the visual.

Bankroll Freddie’s major-label debut, Big Bank, also comes with guest appearances from EST Gee, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, PnB Rock, Young Dolph, Young Scooter, and Big30. The album was released a little over a year after he dropped From Trap To Rap, his first project on Quality Control. As for Megan, the track is her first release since picking up three wins at last month’s Grammy Awards in categories that included Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance. She will also headline this fall’s Bonnarro Festival with Tame Impala, Lizzo, and more.

DMX Is Off Life Support & Breathing On His Own: Report

Earlier today, shocking and heartbreaking news spread like wildfire as it was revealed that legendary rapper DMX had suffered an overdose on Friday night. Troubling details continued to emerge as Hip-Hop fans learned that, in addition to the overdose, the It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot artist had also experienced a heart attack and was in a vegetative state. Hours later, DMX’s team has come forward to give a hopeful update on his condition.

Following the outpouring of support from several Hip-Hop heavyweights, DMX’s longtime lawyer Murray Richman has given fans an update on the iconic artist’s status, revealing that DMX is officially off life support, but although he is breathing on his own, he is still showing minimal brain activity.

“He’s been taken off of life support,” Richman says. “He is breathing on his own but there is a little brain activity.”

According to NBC News, when asked for more details as to what caused DMX’s heart attack, the attorney said that he did not know what caused the life-threatening emergency. Instead, he offered kind words about DMX, who he fondly refers to as Earl.

“Earl is a sweet guy,” Richman said. “Earl was a person who could tell such a story. He was a person with such depth. It’s a heartbreaker.”

Prayers up that DMX will continue to pull through. Stay tuned for updates.

Quelly Woo Picks Up Where Pop Smoke Left Off On “Tactical Pressure”

Brooklyn may have another soon-to-be superstar on its hands.

After treating fans with the motivational single “Pain Into Passion” at the tail-end of February, New York rapper Quelly Woo has finally dropped off his new project Tactical Pressure. With a voice and delivery that’s eerily similar to the late Pop Smoke’s, Quelly Woo uses his latest release to pick up where his fellow Brooklyn artist left off.

The full title of the Canarsie, Brooklyn-based rapper’s new project is Tactical Pressure Volume One, A Movie Starrting Quelly Woo aka Mr. TP, and although Quelly Woo’s nine-track project isn’t packed with movie-like skits, it does boast a bunch of the cinematic production that the Brooklyn Drill scene is known for. The extended title of the project also adds context to Quelly Woo’s nickname Mr. TP, which he reveals to be an abbreviation for “Tactical Pressure.”

The Pop Smoke influence is clear all throughout the rising artist’s new EP, especially on the project’s closer “TNP (Tomorrow Never-Promised),” and Quelly even shouted out the late Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon artist, saying, “R.I.P THE LEGEND I KNO HE WOO WALKIN UP IN HEAVEN.”

If you’re interested, give Quelly Woo’s Tactical Pressure a listen below.

Tracklist:

1. Hot Winter
2. Bacc Out
3. Jealousy
4. Pain Into Passion

DMX Has Been Taken Off Life Support And Is ‘Breathing On His Own’ According To His Lawyer

Hip-hop fans from near and far have been on edge on Saturday following news of DMX’s drug overdose and hospitalization early in the morning. TMZ confirmed that the rapper suffered the overdose Friday night at his home. He was then taken to a White Plains, New York hospital where he was listed in “grave condition” at the facility’s critical care unit. It was also reported that he suffered a heart attack due to the overdose.

For much of the day, updates about his health were nonexistent until his lawyer, Murray Richman, spoke to New York’s Pix11 News where he delivered somewhat of a relieving update on the rapper’s condition.

“He’s in the hospital as a result of a heart attack,” Richman said during a zoom call with Pix11 News. “He has been taken off [the] life support system and he’s been breathing on his own.”

While this may be comforting news for the time being, Richman added that they are not in the clear with the rapper just yet.

“We are concerned,” he said. “It would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I’m not a worried man at this particular point.” During their broadcast, Pix11 News said that DMX’s lawyer would not confirmed whether or not the rapper’s hospitalization and heart attack was the result of a drug overdose.

Since hearing the news early Saturday morning, a number of people from the music world have sent their well wishes to the rapper in hopes of a speedy recovery.

You can hear Richman’s words in the video above.
