Lawd P Talks Life, Love & Living Through A Pandemic On “BLOOD WATER”

Brooklyn, New York has always been a prime source for discovering some of the best rappers and lyricists to come into the game — The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Lil Kim and Fabolous are just some of the usual suspects that were born in the borough and went on to become rap legends.

A new face looking rise in the realms of rap is Lawd P, and by the looks of his determination, lyrical content and knack for impressive visuals, we may have just discovered another one of BK’s brightest stars.

With “BLOOD WATER,” Lawd P’s latest single to arise from his 2020 EP Paradigm Shift 2020, his musical influences are almost immediately recognizable — the aforementioned Hov, Philly rap vet Black Thought and fellow BK lyricist Skyzoo all come to mind. The visuals make you respect his hustle even further, where he puts the setting in a church as he spills his soul to The Man Above™ about all the things we’ve all pretty much been stressing about this past year. Overall, this song proves that Brooklyn is still one of the most influential places in the world when it comes to hip-hop, and Lawd P could potentially be one of the latest to prove that as a fact. Thanks for speaking your truth for the masses to enjoy and relate to, P!

Stream “BLOOD WATER” by Lawd P below, in addition to checking out the official music video that premiered recently. Also, be sure to stream his full Paradigm Shift 2020 EP via Soullennial and let us know what you think of this rising emcee hailing from a borough of many rap kings before him:

Quotable Lyrics:

Stash house and more drugs
More deaths and less hugs
Never knew how to show love
Hoping I change for the Man above
Cops killing on our side
Imagine if we could’ve multiplied?
More debt, buying more credit
But all is left is to fight through this pandemic

Lamar Odom & Karlie Redd Spark Romance Rumors

Has Lamar Odom already jumped into a new romance? The public meltdown of his relationship with Sabrina Parr played out for the world to see as the engaged couple decided that they weren’t a right fit for each other. Odom has repeatedly suggested that Parr was using him for fame while Parr insists that her ex has a few issues that he needs to work on. Now that the pair are no longer taking digs at each other online, there are rumors that Odom has found a new lady friend and some have suggested that it’s Karlie Redd.

This has sparked further conversations regarding Odom’s inclusion on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, which isn’t an impossible suggestion considering he had reality television plans with Parr. The former couple was working on a series that showcased their love and business ventures, but that seemed to have fizzled with the split.

In video clips that have gone viral, Odom was seen getting a little close with Karlie and looked to be partying with a few of her L&HH co-stars. It would be interesting to see how Odom incorporates himself into the reality television world once again, this time outside of the Kardashian-Jenners. Years ago, Odom appeared alongside then-wife Khloé Kardashian on E!‘s Khloé & Lamar where the pair even wed on TV. Check out Lamar Odom and Karlie Redd below.

Pharrell Williams Spent His Birthday Honoring Cousin Killed By Police

It was just a little over a week ago when Virginia Beach was hit with multiple tragedies. It’s reported that three separate shootings occurred in the same area, resulting in two fatalities. One person who lost their life was Donovan Lynch, the 25-year-old cousin of Pharrell Williams who was reportedly shot and killed by police. While details regarding the incident remain scarce, Pharrell has publicly called for a transparent and thorough investigation. Yesterday (April 5), Lynch’s loved ones gathered together at Wave Church where the megaproducer spoke about how he hoped that the “tragedy” would encourage conversations about dangers in the community.

“Although Donovon’s body laid in the street for an inhuman amount of time, his spirit got up,” Pharrell reportedly said. “Tragedy after tragedy, the body of Virginia Beach keeps getting knocked down. But it is time for the spirit of Virginia Beach to get up.” Mayor Bobby Dyer was in the audience at the funeral and Pharrell reportedly questioned why Dyer waited a week before contacting Lynch’s family.

“Virginia Beach, you need to talk — talk about your issues, talk about your struggles so we can get past them,” Pharrell added. “We need to put each other on notice, not to tear each other down but to lift each other up so we can be effective. So that we can win.” Check it out below.

#StopAsianHate Cries Continue As Man Is Charged For Throwing Rocks At Asian Mom & Son

The #StopAsianHate initiative that has been spreading across America and other parts of the world may be a bit confusing to some people, but the many reports we’ve been seeing of violence towards our Asian brothers and sisters makes it a very pressing issue worth acknowledging. Take this heinous story we recently came across for example, which details a California man who threw rocks at an Asian mother and her single-digits-age son as they drove.

The reason? He told cops that Koreans in the area of Fullerton were “trying to control him.”

According to USA TODAY, Roger Janke decided to throw two rocks at the mom and her six-year-old son as they were actually driving. Unfortunately, he was able to crack the windshield and damage the bumper on their Tesla before the woman was able to pull over and get the attention of authorities. Even though Janke has in fact pled not guilty to his charges, which include violating civil rights, vandalism, throwing a substance at a vehicle and most importantly a hate crime, he still made it very clear of his feelings toward the Asian community when he told authorities the bit about “Koreans in the area trying to control him” or whatever.

Long story short, everyone deserves to be respected out here. Given what we’re already been pushing to change in America with the #BlackLivesMatter movement, it’s only right that we show the Asian community that same respect.

Let us know your thoughts on this story, and feel free to suggest ways we can further show support for anyone in the Asian community who has personally felt the force of why a #StopAsianHate initiative needs to even exist in the first place. As always we’d love to hear from y’all, so sound off down in the comments:

Boosie & Webbie Reunited In Houston During Easter Weekend

Boosie Badazz and Webbie teamed up to deliver some of the hardest music in the South. Despite their near-flawless track record together, the two ended up going their separate ways. While there isn’t any confirmation that Boosie Badazz and Webbie have any new music together, they did spend their Easter weekend together. Boosie and Webbie were spotted at Space Houston’s in Texas where they were turning up on stage together.

The two reunited after Boosie Badazz was shot last year in Texas. Boosie revealed that Webbie actually came to visit him in the hospital while he was recovering. That was the first public sign that they were mending their relationship, though it was unexpected after the two traded barbs on Instagram.

In 2017, Boosie Badazz did an interview with Vlad TV where he explained that he and Boosie ended up going different ways simply because they were on different pages. Unfortunately, things took a left turn when Webbie called out Boosie and suggested the BooPac rapper deliberately ignored him after his prison release. Shortly after, Boosie Badzz responded by claiming Webbie was responsible for his own downfall.

The link-up over the weekend was the first time that the two have been together publicly since their falling out. However, Boosie revealed that Webbie did come to visit him after he was shot.

Montana Yao Suggests Malik Beasley’s Parents Made Racist Remarks

After a four-month romance, Larsa Pippen and Malik Beasley have decided to drop the drama and move on. The 46-year-old wife of Scottie Pippen recently sparked a romance with the 24-year-old married Minnesota Timberwolves star and to say that it was controversial is an understatement. Pippen was called a homewrecker, an allegation she adamantly denies, while Beasley stood accused of cheating on his wife, Montana Yao.

While Beasley remained relatively silent about his relationship with Pippen, Yao has continuously come forward to share her side of the story. She previously claimed that she learned that her husband was seeing Pippen on the internet like everyone else and now that their relationship has reportedly ended, Yao is calling out Beasley and his supporters for allegedly attempting to paint her in a negative light. She reposted an article that stated their son Makai is Beasley’s son after the basketball star requested a paternity test.

“Makai and I have been put thru HELL and the utmost embarrassment purposely and for no reason, for so long and for too long,” Yao wrote on her Instagram Story. “Him, his parents, and his team have tried so hard to make me out to be the ‘bad guy’ and everything I am not in the media just to defame me and my reputation and to cover and project his own bad behavior onto me. I will continue to remain the woman I am and let the truth reveal itself.”

She later addressed “Asian hate” and mentioned that her “sons other grandparents” have allegedly made racist remarks about Makai. “‘Ramen noodle’ ‘Buddha’ ‘Ching chang Chong’ I tried to play along and embrace it while we were together like it didn’t hurt or effect me but it did and it’s straight up wrong.” She added, “I wanted to us to be a family. I loved my ex and I love my son and wanted a family unit because I grew up with one.”

Kanye West Documentary Sold To Netflix For $30M: Report

Kanye West’s career is well-deserving of a documentary, and fortunately, it seems that we’ll be getting an official one later this year. Per Billboard, the hip-hop and fashion extraordinaire will be at the center of a documentary that’s been in the works for over 20 years.  Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah of Coodie & Chike fame sold the documentary to Netflix for $30M. The creative duo was behind the visuals for “Through The Wire” and the third version of the “Jesus Walks” video.

The yet-to-be-titled effort is set to debut later this year on the streaming platform. Simmons explained that he’s been riding with Kanye since the early years of his career in the 90s. He explained that he’s accumulated tons of never-before-seen archival footage and content from the 21 years they worked together. It’ll cover milestone moments in his life and career including his early days trying to get into the game, the death of his mother, and his 2020 presidential campaign.

A source close to the situation revealed that Kanye West pretty much offered his blessing to Coodie and Chike’s multi-part project by simply allowing them to film him for the past two decades.

If you’re wondering, the documentary from Kanye West’s former bodyguard Steve Stanulis is apparently “still in discussions with multiple platforms,” his reps said.

King Von Got The Ultimate Tribute At A 6-Year-Old’s B’Day Party

Ever since the death of Chicago rapper King Von last November, many have been paying their respects to the slain emcee in their own ways — tribute postsunique fashion choices and even tattoos by way of ex-girl Asian Doll are just some of the ways we’ve seen him honored. However, we’ve yet to see a whole King Von-themed birthday party.

Well, that’s until a dedicated 6-year-old fan decided to change all that.

6-Year-Old "King Von" Themed Birthday PartyImage: Prince Williams/Wireimage

The toddler in question resides in Pittsburgh, and based off pics from the party it looks like they had a ball while paying their respects to someone who was expected to do a lot for the Chi-Town rap scene. The birthday girl imitated everything from Von’s signature O Block chain to his highly-recognizable braids. The rest of her ‘fit was extra dripped-out as well, which included an all-white combination of hair beads, a super clean G-SHOCK watch, GUCCI bandana à la Soulja Boy and a classic King Von concert tee that was fitting from all aspects. We’re sure Von would’ve approved — just look at how him, 21 Savage, G Herbo and Metro Boomin went all out for 21’s ’70s-themed “Players Ball” Birthday Party last October (seen above)!

Now listen….before you go calling CPS on her parents for letting their child honor a “gangsta rapper” at her party, take a minute to think about who you were listening to at six! Sure, you can act like Kidz Bop was the only thing in your rotation, but we all know that DMX (praying for you still, king!) or another musician with heavy “Parental Advisory” vibes didn’t help soundtrack your childhood. In short, let shorty rock!

Check out this 6-year-old’s stylish tribute to King Von for her birthday party below, and let us know down below in the comment section if her parents should get a pat on the back or a slap on the head for this party idea. We say the former, but sound off with your thoughts:

Ralo Could Benefit From Biden Administration’s Clemency Program

The rap game has been calling for Ralo’s release in more ways than one. Last week, it was reported that artists like Drake and Meek Mill signed off on a letter to President Biden asking to grant clemency for Ralo. “On behalf of Terrell Davis and his family, we strongly urge you to grant clemency for Mr. Davis, who is serving federal time for nonviolent marijuana offense,” the letter reads.

According to TMZ, it seems like the plea for Ralo’s freedom could come into fruition under the Biden administration’s clemency program that’s in the works. Activist Weldon Angelos joined TMZ Live today where he explained that the White House reached out to him regarding this program that would benefit non-violent cannabis offenses.

In the case of Ralo, who was charged on conspiracy charges after police said they discovered 444 lbs. of cannabis on his private jet, Weldon said the rapper was arrested “for violating the same federal statute many entrepreneurs and corporations violate every day in 36 states across the country, who are not subject to federal prosecution.”

Weldon explained that if Biden pulls through on this, he hopes that it would be on a larger scale of what happened during the previous administration. “If this clemency program is launched, this would apply to people like Ralo,” Weldon explained before mentioning some of Trump’s efforts.
