Russ Runs From His Relationship Issues In “Bankrupt” Visual

He said this track is the perfect companion on a long drive, and now Russ is taking “Bankrupt” on the road in his latest visual. The thriving independent artist recently shared the slow-burning, melancholy single and on Wednesday (April 14), he delivered the cinematic music video. The tone of the clip matches the energy of the song as Russ seems to be trying to get as far away from his problems, or ex, as possible, but at every turn, he continues to reach out.

In other Russ news, the rapper-singer recently revealed his cannabis line with Wonderbrett. His CHOMP line is named after his rap-heavy EP he shared last year and is said to be a creative strain that will help musicians in the studio. That drop came on the heels of the news that he’s rescheduled his Shake The Snow Globe Tour for 2022. Check out the music video for Russ’s “Bankrupt” and let us know what you think.

Soldier Charged With Assault After Viral Video Shows Him Berating A Black Man

A viral video has angered the Army. A Black man was walking through The Summit at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina when he was reportedly attacked by a White man. In a two-minute video that surfaced online, the Black man is seen telling his aggressor that he isn’t doing anything wrong. “You’re in the wrong neighborhood,” said the White man. “Get out!”

The Black man keeps his composure as his foe yells in his face, telling him to walk away and threatening him with violence. The White man asks him where he lives and demands his address. A woman recording, allegedly the White man’s wife, is heard yelling, “Maybe we should walk you home.”

The video vexed the public who began sharing it by the thousands. It caught the attention of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and soon, the intimidating figure in the video was identified as Sgt. Jonathan Pentland. The 42-year-old was arrested and charged with assault and battery in the third degree for allegedly slapping the man’s phone out of his hand—an incident not captured on video but was told to authorities by witnesses. Pentland was later released.

Fort Jackson officials have denounced Pentland’s behavior and said in a statement that his actions are “not consistent with Army values.”  Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Milford Beagle, Jr. added that “the leaders at Fort Jackson in no way condone the behavior depicted in the video posted recently. This action deeply impacts our community–the neighbors in the Summit, the city of Columbia, Richland & Lexington counties, and our Army family.”

“I ask that our communities and leaders exercise a degree of patience, affording Sherriff Lott and law enforcement investigators to account for the full measure of events before, during, and after the incident that was recorded.” Watch the video of Pentland below.

Cardi B Calls Out “Blue Check Republicans” Who Are Silent About Police Brutality

Her relationship with many figures in the Republican party remains contentious, but Cardi B was hoping to chat with one of them about what has recently been going on in the news. As the Derek Chauvin trial has been moving forward, activists have taken to social media to highlight two cases that have taken America by storm. In Minnesota, not far from the courthouse where Chauvin faces murder charges for kneeling on George Floyd’s neck, 20-year-old Daunte Wright was shot and killed by Brooklyn Center Officer Kim Potter. Investigators claim she mistook her gun for a Taser.

Simultaneously, news about Caron Nazario, a second lieutenant in the Army, being harrassed and maced by an officer in Virginia gained steam after bodycam footage of the incident went viral. Cardi wanted to know where the “blue check Republicans” who regularly harass her about her racy image were. In a video she shared on Twitter, Cardi called out the political party.

“This past week, we have seen an American lieutenant that served this country get treated like a f*ckin’ dog by cops,” said the rapper. “Got maced, got thrown to the floor. Mind you, this man served this country—over some fcking license plates that these motherf*ckas couldn’t see, temporary license plates.”

“We have seen a young man get killed by a cop, unarmed, and the excuse was the cop that had been on duty for 20-plus years mistakes a gun for a Taser. And my thing is, where the f*ck are you Twitter blue check Republicans at? Y’all are the loudest in this motherf*ckin’ app. Y’all not saying nothin’. Y’all not complainin’. Y’all blame everything with what’s wrong in America beside the police. Y’all have been very silent. What’s going on?”

In the caption, she added, “Ya been real quit .Twitter Blue check Republicans are a f*ckin joke .I don’t ever want to see yaa ranting on celebrities, athletes until yall address what’s REALLY WRONG IN AMERICA !” Watch her clip below.

Joie Chavis Reveals Neither Bow Wow Nor Future Give Her Child Support

When you have children with Bow Wow and Future, you’re going to face critics. Joie Chavis has a daughter, Shai, with Bow and a son, Hendrix, with Future, and she’s previously spoken about receiving the “gold digger” title because of their fame. Although Chavis has repeatedly denied that her relationships with her children’s fathers had anything to do with money, it hasn’t stopped the public from pelting the dancer with insults.

Over on her YouTube channel, Chavis hosted yet another Q&A session where she took questions from her Instagram followers and answered them on camera. One person didn’t have a question but wrote, “You’re a gold digger.” Chavis quickly stated, “I feel like a lot of people say that.”

“And I’m not. I’m not a gold digger,” she added. “I don’t—if that’s the case, I’d be dating everybody that tries to talk to me with money. I don’t, and I’m not a gold digger. I’ve worked since I was fifteen, like, I take care of my kids. I don’t get any child support.”

“I don’t need to ask for anything for certain things my kids because I can do everything myself. If their father wants to do things for them and then they do that on their own time if they want to [say], hey, here’s some money for this or that, or you know whatever. But I don’t really ask for anything. I’m able to do everything on my own.”

“So, just wanted to make sure that I said that.” Check out her Q&A session below.

Ready Ron Denies DMX’s Claims He Exposed Rapper To Drugs

The world still grieves the loss of DMX, but fans are celebrating the beloved rapper’s life. DMX’s story is one riddled with abuse and abandonment from his mother to those he called friends. The rapper’s longstanding struggle with addiction has been well-documented, and X himself would openly speak about his issues with the hope that his story would help someone else. In a recent interview Talib Kweli, DMX shed tears as he detailed being exposed to hard drugs when he was 14-years-old. He claims his mentor, Ready Ron, laced his blunt with crack without his knowledge, creating the habit X battled his entire life.

Ready Ron didn’t speak about the allegation immediately after X’s interview circulated last November, but he’s defending himself now. In a video recently shared on social media, Ron refuted DMX’s story.

“How was I thirty-years-old in 1985 and he was 14,” said Ron. “And him and I  are only three years apart. You gotta remember, just because somebody is world-famous doesn’t mean they’re always honest. And I’ve got nothing bad to say about him but you gotta stop lying on me.” He reportedly told The Neighborhood Talk that he’s “been receiving hate mail” due to the allegations.

“We were kids and we were getting high back then, I wasn’t the one to expose him to crack,” he added. Ron also shared that he was asked to appear on BET’s Ruff Ryders Chronicles documentary but claims his portions didn’t make it to air. After his video began to circulate, DMX’s fans have come forward to criticize Ron for his timing. Watch Ready Ron’s video and read through a few reactions below.

Eazy-E’s Daughter Ebie Wright Claims Ice Cube Has Been “Dodging” Her

It was the Rap beef heard around the world and until this day, Hip Hop fans still discuss Ice Cube’s infamous rift with N.W.A. The feud led to a series of diss tracks that have become classics, but later, Ice Cube’s anger toward his former friend and groupmate Eazy-E waned. Unfortunately, Eazy-E would die unexpectedly from complications of AIDS in 1995, rendering a verbal reconciliation impossible.

Ebie Wright was only four-years-old when her Rap star father passed away, and for years she’s been working on a documentary about Eazy-E’s life. In a chat with TooFab, Ebie claims Ice Cube has been “ducking and dodging” her, refusing to participate in the film. She boasted about how incredible the documentary was, but she had one hiccup. “The only thing I will say honestly, is probably the only person that actually matters to this story I’m telling, who hasn’t talked on it so far, I’m just being completely honest … is Ice Cube.”

“You know, it really breaks my heart that he hasn’t spoken on this yet because I grew up with his sons, and I have a really good relationship with them,” Ebie said. “[Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson] actually told me that Ice Cube was willing,” she said. “He was gonna do whatever for me, and he was down. Since then, when we tried to book him to do the interview, he’s been ducking and dodging.” Ebie knows that Cube is willing to speak about N.W.A. and Eazy-E because he’s done so with othe r publications and podcasts.

“To be honest, I don’t know why Ice Cube wouldn’t talk about my dad with me,” she said. “I don’t know because again, he’s been on many platforms large and small, you know, talking about Eazy-E. So, I really don’t know. I don’t have the answer. We’d have to ask him.” Watch her clip with TooFab below.

Mystikal Discusses Dismissed Rape Charges & Rapping For God

A weight was lifted off of Mystikal’s shoulders last December when he learned that rape charges set against him were dismissed after a grand jury failed to indict. It all stemmed from an incident that occurred back in 2016 that resulted in the rapper serving 18 months in jail before being released on a $3 million bond. Mystikal has maintained his innocence since inception, and because he had a 2003 sexual battery case where he pleaded guilty hanging over his head, the rapper has been wanting to clear his name.

The Louisiana legend sat down with The Associated Press and spoke about his sexual assault case candidly for the first time. He said his most recent run-in with the law “was like a reoccurring bad dream” and admitted that he was unsure whether things would work out in his favor.

His ordeals have caused him to reevaluate his choices, including how he approaches his music career. Mystikal told AP that he “can’t go to God” with his lewd lyrics, so it seems that he’ll be changing a few things moving forward. “When I look back and listen to the music, man — I was a nasty lil’ rapper!” he said. “A lot of my music now, I imagine myself rapping it to God and if I can rap it, I’m proud.”

“It felt like God was winking his eye at me,” Mystikal added. “That’s what strengthens my spirituality right now, things like that.” You’ll be able to hear more from Mystikal about the ups and downs of his personal and professional lives on an upcoming episode of TV One’s Unsung.
