Jim Jones Praises Bobby Shmurda: “He Paid His Debt To Society”

These past weeks have seen Bobby Shmurda frequenting the studio to work on his upcoming album, having previously linked with Murda Beatz, Lil Durk, Rowdy Rebel, Gucci Mane, and more. Suffice it to say, many fans are eager to see which direction the self-declared King Of New York takes on his anticipated studio album, from which a promising snippet or two has already surfaced.

As it happens, Jim Jones was putting in work in the studio when Bobby Shmurda happened to show up, purely by coincidence. Upon reuniting, the pair proceeded to break out into a gleeful bout of wrestling. Following that, a thoroughly stoned Jones took a moment to share a heartfelt video message, celebrating the rapper’s character.

In addition to his video message, Jones also elaborated on his friendship with Shmurda in a lengthy caption. “First time I seen Bobby last night his energy is impeccable,” begins the Dipset legend. “I’m in th studio high as a kite I hear sombody say I got the billy wit me I look up it’s Bobby bitch @itsbobbyshmurda we immediately break out into a wrestling match. lol love this fool as I look at this clip again I started to laugh n smile all over again.”

Ari Lennox And Queen Naija ‘Set Him Up’ In Their Vengeful New Video

Building on the storyline of their recent collaboration, “Set Him Up,” R&B revivalists Ari Lennox and Queen Naija share the vengeful video for the low-key infidelity call-out. Opening with Ari and Naija calling each other on the phone to talk up their respective new relationships, as the men in question are shot with their faces out of the frame, making the revelation that the “men” are the same man even more visually compelling. In the end, the two singers link up to sing the last third of the song on a couch, which their victim tied up and gagged behind them.

“Set Him Up” arrived on the heels of Ari Lennox’s prior duets with Lucky Daye, “Access Denied,” and Jazmine Sullivan, “On It,” showing off a wide range of topics for the D.C.-born singer to address as she prepares a follow-up for her fan-favorite 2019 debut, Shea Butter Baby. Meanwhile, Naija is a few months removed from the release of her own debut album Missunderstood, which helped legitimize the former YouTube star as a proper artist alongside guest stars like Kiana Ledé, Jacquees, and Lil Durk, who appeared on single “Lie To Me.” The two singers are part of a new wave of sultry, unapologetic R&B singers aiming to bring the genre back to the forefront of pop culture that includes Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, and more.

CJ Fields Jokes About His ‘Whoopty’ Video Sideburns For ‘Behind The Video’

Staten Island standout CJ wisely keeps the “Whoopty” content coming, breaking down his viral hit’s video for Uproxx in Behind The Video. Surprising practically no one, he admits there was no concept for the video when he shot it and recalls that the shoot was a relatively quick one, taking place on a hot summer’s day. What may be surprising is the content of his behind-the-scenes rider, which consists of mostly water and trail mix — “no Hennessy or Patron or stuff like that,” he says.

When it comes to the comments, a truly astonishing number of them focus on his muttonchop sideburns, drawing comparisons to the X-Men‘s Victor Creed (BKA Sabretooth) and photos of Civil War soldiers. CJ takes the comments in stride, though, accepting the Sabertooth comparison and contending that the sideburns are popular with the ladies. When one commenter notes that “pointing at people is rude,” CJ agrees: “I guess I’m rude,” he chuckles.

The rapper also acknowledges the popularity of drill music in the UK, makes a recommendation for Hot Cheetos dusted elote (roasted corn!), and does little to clear up the question of his ambiguous ethnicity.

Lil Nas X Drops Some New Meme-Worthy, Satan-Themed ‘Montero’ Merch

Lil Nas X’s Hell-themed video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” has gotten under the skin of some folks, and perhaps nobody is taking more delight in that than Lil Nas X himself. He has long been a master troll and now he has taken it to the next level with some new “Montero” merch: A pair of hilarious text-heavy t-shirts.

One shirt reads, “I [heart] Jesus and that one part in the ‘Montero’ music video by Lil Nas X when he gets nasty with the devil because it was a cool form of self-expression and art.” The other reads, “I WATCHED THE “Montero” VIDEO BY LIL NAS X AND ALL I GOT WITH THIS LOUSY SHIRT AND NOW I’M ALSO GAY AND LOVE SATAN.”

Meanwhile, the rapper recently expressed concern that the song would be removed from streaming services for some reason he didn’t disclose, writing on Twitter that the song “may no longer be available tomorrow and there’s nothing i can really do about it.” Lil Nas X is clearly prone to making jokes on Twitter, but his label later backed up the claim. As of now, the song appears to still be available on streaming services.

Steph Curry Reveals He Reads Tweets During Games

Steph Curry had himself an incredible game last night as he scored 42 points in just three quarters and even got 11 three-pointers. It was a game to remember and Warriors fans were certainly singing his praises. In the middle of the game at around halftime, many noticed how Curry had liked a tweet that was talking about how well he was playing.

Come to find out, it was all part of a recent conversation he had on the “Dubs Talk” podcast where he admitted to his social media use during games. As Curry described, he likes to check Twitter in the middle of a game, regardless of how well he is playing. For him, it’s simply all entertainment.

“I might have like a sick mind. It’s pure entertainment for me, to be honest,” Curry said. “[I] don’t take myself too seriously when I play well or when I don’t, ‘cuz I know it’s the same intentions in trying to be great. So, like, when I go read ’em, it’s hilarious just how you want to fall off a cliff if I’m 0-for-8 from the 3-point line, or I’m not shooting enough … or a night like 53 [points against the Denver Nuggets on Monday] in chasin’ Wilt [Chamberlain] where I can do no wrong.”

It seems as though playing with Kevin Durant certainly left an impact on Curry as we all know KD is known for spending a bit too much time in Twitter. Hopefully, the insane hot takes don’t rot his brain as they have to everyone else on NBA Twitter.

Redman Lines Up New Single “80 Barz” For Tonight

Redman has been spitting bars for decades now, having influenced no shortage of lyricists to follow his lead — including Eminem, who has often cited Reggie Noble as a formative influence. And even though the modern-day hip-hop landscape has altered significantly since Redman first exploded onto the scene, the legendary emcee has never deviated from the mission. In fact, he continues to emphasize the importance of sharp lyricism, as indicated by his upcoming single “80 Barz.”

Earlier this week, Redman confirmed that his upcoming track would be arriving this Friday, April 16th, at midnight. He also shared a brief snippet of the onslaught to come, spitting a few of the introductory lines. “Whatup ya’ll, say hello to the champ / make you duck down, learned that out my boot camp,” he raps. “I was a big deal when MJ dated Brooke Shields / now I’m equipped to go Bushwick for the Bills / that boy, I’m the red button don’t press me / and I’m a fucked up dad the way I dead beats.”

This afternoon, Redman shared an additional glimpse at the “Barz” to come, this time drawing from a more intense part of the song. “I don’t lie fool, I shit like I ate an order of Thai food,” he raps, over distorted synthesizers produced by himself and Chris Pinset. “I can give you seventeen syllable haikus / no one seeing Doc, America should think like Erykah Badu / back and forth with the blunt get Aaliyah high / my block push the weight till it’s legalized.”

Given that the average one-hundred bar output tends in to clock in anywhere between five and six minutes, expect a reasonably lengthy track from Reggie’s “80 Barz.” Check back at midnight to catch Redman’s next lyrical onslaught, and keep an eye out for Muddy Waters 2, which currently remains on the horizon. In other Redman news, he’ll be partaking in a special 4/20 Verzuz battle against his longtime friend and collaborator Method Man
